Good Morning!

I had to work from home late last night, but work finally slowed down and I was able to check in here.  Thanks to GVSU for posting some new things - it was good to hear how everyone is doing. :-)

How was everyone's commute this morning?  I think mine was actually worse than yesterday's drive.

Re: Good Morning!

  • My commute was awesome. The freeway was plowed and salted. Last night's drive home sucked balls though. It took almost two hours to get from GR to Muskegon.
  • Morning!  Commute was just fine this morning.  Attempting to drive out the mall after work was really bad though.  I actually got half way there and turned around because roads were scary icy.  I did end up getting to the mall (Woodland), but it was an hour later on a different road, and it was much better.

Fun mall/clothing story:  I went to The Limited to buy a new top for a Christmas party.  I planned on wearing this new top with a pair of pants I bought from The Limited back in January (they still had the tags on them and everything).  Well, I get home with my top and want to try them on with the pants....they're too fricken big!  Ugh.  So now I have to drive all the way out to Woodland (the mall that is much farther than Rivertown for me) again to exchange these pants for smaller size.  I need to do this ASAP because I will need to get the pants hemmed before next Saturday.  Yay for smaller pants, but boo for having to drive out to Woodland again.  I was hoping that I wouldn't have to drive out there again for a long time.

  • I had a really weird day yesterday. Work didn't go very well. I encountered some major frustrations with the new role and attitudes of people whose cooperation I'll need to be successful. Then I got the good news from two places. L is in England all week for work, so we have been communicating sporadically over email. As learned last year, I never do well when separated from him by time zones. I tried calling my mom and she didn't answer. Next thing I know. All of the bad stuff from work and all of my fears about school just wouldn't go away and I started bawling. Things are better this morning, though.

I hope you treated yourself to a glass of vino. :-)  Sorry you had a rough night, when things build like that it's bound to come out.  I hope you had a good, cathartic cry and glad you're feeling better today.

Congrats on the smaller pants.  I have the same feelings about Ann Taylor LOFT - I love that store but hate going all the way out to Grandville. :-P

  • PS - DP, Congrats on the acceptance letter!

Maybe I should try for pants at ATL.  I've never shopped there.  *runs to check website*

  • Wop, definitely check out AT Loft.  You mentioned that you need to get your pants hemmed.  I like Loft because they have a petite section so that I don't have to get mine hemmed!

Diana, sorry to hear you had a rough day yesterday.  Sounds like a lot of ups and downs emotionally which can be exhausting.  I can relate to the job aspect though.  In order to get my job done, I need to rely on a lot of other people (namely attorneys) to do their part, and quite often what I need from them is very low on their list of priorities.  It's crazy frustrating.

My commute this morning was fine.  Yesterday it was frustrating.  I don't have far to go, and I can take all city streets, but people were moving so slow, it was nuts.

  • OH!  Guess what!  DH and I are going to see Kid Rock next month.  I'm excited.  I've heard he puts on a really good show.

    Fun!

  • I totally meant to have a beer, but got so busy crying that I forgot :S I feel way better today. I gave myself permission to call in sick today if I didn't feel up to it. But as usual, problems seem smaller in the morning. Kasa I have decided that one factor for my job satisfaction is not having to rely on getting info from others to keep busy. I HATE it.

Ooo, I love LOFT. :-)  Although, their pants don't usually fit me right - I love their tops and dresses.

Sweet!  I don't have any of his albums but I bet he would put on a fun show.

  • Do people still say "albums" or did I just sound old?

Neither do I actually.  I should probably buy one.

I probably would have said, "I don't have any of his CDs/music...".  However, I think the correct terminology in the music business is still "album".  So, rather than sounding old, I think you sound like a music guru.  Wink

By the cds. I have all of them. I can make copies if you want. His last one Rock N Roll Jesus was a good one too. And I know he just had a new one come out.

Yeah, I'll get his new one.  Thanks for the offer though!

  • Does anyone want to trade inlaws?  We keep our husbands but swap inlaws.  Mine give really good Christmas gifts!  And they come with a poodle!  Anyone?... anyone?... Bueller?

Mine are freaking driving me crazy.  Super Angry

Oh no!  One of my BFF's has a crazy MIL.  She means well and she's a good person, just very overbearing.  I feel very fortunate with my in-laws, so I think I'll keep 'em.

  • Juli, maybe your BFF and I should start a support group.

  • Kasa you can try mine for a while. FIL isn't talking to us right now because he is pissed at DH. MIL&SFIL barely talk at all but that is normal. DH b-day was Tuesday. He got the usually Facebook birthday messages and they only live in Wyoming not even 15 miles away.
  • Does anyone else have this with Facebook. People from HS wanting to be your friend even though they wouldn't give you the time of day when in HS?

I'm friends with 5 people from HS on Facebook. 3 of which I went to school with for 13 years. now all of the sudden I've been requested by a ton of people who were in my HS class and we were not in the same clique. Not even close.

    Sad  Sorry, that sucks.

Yeah... I usually reject their friend requests.

Tee hee.  It's funny, because her H's brother is getting married, so she has been commiserating with the fiance.  They often vent to each other. :-)

My SIL's husband and I used to vent to one another, but now they're working on a divorce and he moved to Wyoming.  Sad

Seriously, he is such a laid back person and he taught me to basically just laugh off all the craziness.  But with him gone, and the increase in craziness over the past six month due to the effects of the separation, I'm having a hard time laughing these days.

I was going to say no until I got to the poodle part. Stick out tongue

  • I dont have to deal with inlaws. FIL died over 15 years ago and MIL is in Germany and M doesn't talk to her at all.
