Re: Good Morning!

  • Hehe!  Thanks, Julie!  Smile

Chymes, I thought the poodle might sweeten the deal for you.

  • Kasa, I will gladly trade you.  But then you will see how good you've got it and want to trade back immediately.

I think it would be the other way around, my friend!  Devil

  • I just read this article about baby names.  I definitely think our generation tends toward "unique but not weird."

I also came across this name at my work the other week: "Viktoriya" (Although I think that might be an Eastern European/Russian spelling?)

I think the trend of spelling a name differently to make the parents feel like it is more unique and special needs to go away.  But that might be because I really like spelling things correctly.

  • I think I have a tea addiction.  I currently have 8 different boxes of tea in my desk.

I read that same article this morning.

I agree about name spelling.  I am all about normal, properly spelled names.   None of this "Emihlie" (Emily) type stuff.

If you want to be entertained you should spend some time on the Baby Names Bump board.  There are some strange names out there.

  • I don't know if I'm being overly competitive or if I have big britches about cooking, but I'm stressing about my dessert dish for our contest next Friday.  I'm thinking about making this mousse (minus the custard and pralines)

    http://dinnercoop.cs.cmu.edu/dinnercoop/Recipes/karen/ChocolateMascarpone.html

And putting them in these cups:

If I don't win I might be really disappointed.

Honestly, I really dislike this trend toward odd names.  We have good friends who recently had a baby and while she was pregnant she told me that they selected a name that was "unusual but not weird."  Personally, I think the baby's name is mega-weird, so I guess "weird" is pretty subjective.

My (hypothetical) babies will be unique in the fact that they have traditional names.  Ha!

I get competitive about cooking too.  I think I inherited that from my mom who goes to all measures to win her office's baked goods auction each year by getting the most money for her entry.

I think these recipes look great though!  Very unique.

I know what you mean!  We have prety traditional names picked out for our (non-existant) children.  Hopefully no one will ever ask them how to pronounce or spell their name.

Mmmm, those sound delicious.  Whenever we have work potlucks I just worry that what I make won't turn out - it doesn't have to the best but I don't want it to suck balls either.

I think going with anything chocolate is always a safe bet.  If you've never made that combo before, maybe go with something tried and true?

Same here.  Unless I figure out a crazy new way to spell Andrew.

    AnneDru

    Andru

    Ayndrew

    Androo

Of course we'd have to change our names so we'd match.  And then I'd have to change my SN to MrsJewleeD.

Well I've made the mousse before and it's heaven.  The chocolate dessert cups would be interesting.  There may be a place out in Grandville I can buy them though, so I'll see if they have them before I attempt it myself.

That article was posted on MM.  I posted that I was curious what people IRL think about T's name when they hear it.  Someone posted that she judge's me for a lot of other things, so the name is irrelevant.  And now I'm very curious as to what she judge's me for (minus the obvious H issues that I've posted about in the past.)

  • Hello!   It took forever for the reply box to open and then the girls woke up from their nap. So I have since forgotten all the responses I had.

    sorry for bad days

    Yay for smaller pants

    Boo to bad ILs

    good luck with cooking/baking

    and I forgot what else.

For real!  Especially the bolded.  In the ER on Monday night, when the nurse (or whoever) called for T, she said "Tayshawn?  Tayshawn?"

    Huh?  Really?  Not even close.

I hope we didn't set him up for a life of annoyance.

We did name him after an incredibly famous writer.  He is the second most quoted writer in the dictionary.  I know I shouldn't be surprised that more people haven't heard of him though - my bad!

I don't regret it and I wouldn't change it.  But I still hope people don't mispronounce it his entire life.

Well that's a pretty sideways comment.  Unless she was kidding?

You should pry respond: "Neat-o.  I judge you for your sideways comments."

We played out in the snow this morning. Mia took her mittens off and I told her not too. Needless to say play time ended real soon after this picture was taken because of tears from little one name Mia because of cold and sore hands.

  • I wish my church would freakin call me back already. They sent out an email late last night saying they had an urgent need to help a family with two young kids. I replied back saying I had some items I could donate and was willing to shop for other items. They never emailed me back and I called about two hours ago. If I'm going to do shopping I want to do it now, so I'm not on the road at 5 pm and I don't want to buy stuff they already have donated.

Welllllllllllll, the first and last letter ARE the same.  lol.  I wasn't looking for an apology, but she offered one anyway.  We just thought it was funny and quite strange and it made us wonder if other people will do the same thing in the future.

  • Wow, I go to lunch and help Grandma figure out U-verse and look at what I miss. ;)

    Cute pic.

Tayshawn? hhmm FAIL!  I have a fairly unique name. Most people look at it and don't get it right. I also can count on 1 hand how many other people I've meet with the same name. I used to want a "normal" name but now I love it.

In the past people have added "r"s in my name the second "d" becomes a "t" for some. My favorite has been Dead-dra. usually it is Die-dre. Um thanks for trying. it is pronouced Deedrah which is spelled Deidre. Like Deidre Hall from Days of our Lives, which is where my parents got the name.

My niece's middle is for my DH. Her name is Krista Rian (ryan).

  • I'm bored.
