Update. Running & painful toe

So I had the appt for this AM to have my toe checked. Yesterday, I felt the appt was necessary because my toe had literally not gotten any better or shown signs of improvement at all in a week, so I was concerned.  Decided a week of no change was good enough to at least ask them and have them look at it.

Well, my body decided it's a car. You know how when it makes weird noises until you take it to the mechanic and then there's nothing wrong with it?  Yeah...

This morning I woke up and NO pain. Nothing. Um... Ok... I cancelled my appt first thing.

Silly body. Silly toe.

I guess it just waited til I made the appt to make me look silly. Next time, I'll call immediately after an injury and make an appt - just to stop it from hurting. haha! :)

ETA - I'm also going to the running store today to have them check out my shoes and see if I need to go up a size. Prob going to get some new socks too (just in case). Hopefully I don't go too crazy in there getting running gear. "Gear" is as expensive as it is addicting. :)

Re: Update. Running & painful toe

  • Well, hopefully new shoes and new socks will fix the problem for good.

Waking up and not having pain is one of the reasons I put off going to the doctor.. I fear it wont hurt as much as soon as I go in and they will think I'm weird. Not super logical I know.

  • That always happens to me.  In fact, this morning my cat was a car ;)  (finally made a vet appt after a week of him sneezing, including green nasal discharge, and this morning when his appt was - nothing.  He's fine.  Maybe a little cold.  ha!).  Anywho, so glad the pain is gone and I hope new shoes and socks keep it away.  FWIW, I was fitted for running shoes and they were GREAT for several months, and then I noticed they seemed a little tight, and went back and the same people who fitted me the first time were like, "yeah, wow...you need another 1/2 size larger"...I really do think my feet changed with running.  Or something.  Had to have...  So anyway, new shoes really might be your answer, even if you got great shoes that worked really well last time.  GL!!

  • I read your post about your toe problem. Weird, but I think it's the shoes too since your toe nails are short and there wasn't pain anywhere else. Wonder if you need completely different type of shoes. I started off in stability shoes when I first started running and developed a case of ITBS, then I changed over to neutral shoes and way better and no ITBS.
