Ours was 100% busy and only about 50% fun. Miles was sent home early on Friday because of this crazy stomach bug making its way around his DC (fortunately, he's been fine), so I had to leave early on Friday afternoon.
Saturday, we went to a Hanukkah party at my mom's house and had a ton of fun giving and receiving gifts and eating latkes. Miles had a great time because there were a total of 8 kids running around there. 100% fun.
Sunday, I was SUPPOSED to have an awesome play date with Mucho and Lindsay, but had to cancel because we had to go to a funeral instead. The funeral itself was close by, but then we had to pay a shiva call about 2 hrs away on LI. We didn't get home until 9 pm (past Miles' bedtime, so he spent the last 1/2 hr of the ride screaming his head off). Then I got a call from my sister who told me my 19 month old niece fell backwards down their stairway. She's fine, but talk about scary! 0% fun.
Re: How was your weekend?
Ethan had a cold that made him way grumpier than even the croup has ever accomplished before. I spent the weekend covered in snot, holding a sick baby that refused to be put down.
100% not fun.
I did order a nose frida though. That's what I have been reduced to.
Ups and downs. Sorry about your cancellation of MC time.
Mine was OK. On Saturday I woke up at 5:30 am and couldn't fall back to sleep. Then we had infant/child CPR class and went out for beignets. Later I took a nap while my husband raked leaves. At night we caught up on Boardwalk Empire and watched more Modern Family season 1.
Yesterday we took Jenny to an animal rescue fundraiser where she had her picture taken with Santa. Then we had friends over to watch football, and I finally pulled the trigger and got my Secret Santa gifts.
I went shopping after work on Friday, and managed to only spend $6 on myself, which was a great success. I also officially finished Christmas shopping!
Saturday, Brett had to fill in for someone at work, so I worked on staining our new porch swing, and then worked on some sewing projects while I watched Mad Men. Yesterday, we went clothes shopping for Brett (which he hates. He should just let me buy his clothes and we would both be happier) and then vegged out until his office Christmas party last night. It was nice to see the people I do like, but it made me really glad that my office doesn't have a party other than a potluck lunch.

not bad!
my mother in law has been visiting, so much of the weekend was going out shopping, going out to eat, visiting santa claus, etc. (tonight i will have to share the pic of Alison's introduction to Santa. LOL)
we had a bunch of snow on saturday so that ramped up some of the christmas spirit, but it also foiled some of our plans to go see the christmas parade (it was pretty wet and cold by then) or put up lights. had a big crock of chili, went to church, hung out.

I wish somebody would pay me in latkes.
My weekend was pretty lazy. I hardly moved off the couch on Saturday. I watched the Lovely Bones. It's a beautiful movie, visually.
Yesterday, Mr. Spiderman finally made spaghetti sauce after me nagging him to do it for months while I spent way way way too much money buying Christimas gifts.

Sorry to hear about all of the sick kiddos here!
My weekend was pretty sweet. It was celebratory weekend (my birthday was yesterday).
Saturday, we went Christmas shopping and got most of it done by noon. Went home for Andy's nap and I sat and watched holiday shows on HGTV. We then went out and got cupcakes, champaign, and dinner from one of my favorite places. After Andy went to bed, we watched Almost Famous.
Yesterday, we went to our friends' house to "watch" the final nail in the coffin of the Bronco's season. Since it was my b-day, it was a great excuse for my friends and I to drink way too much champaign. I feel surprisingly decent today.
Friday night we cleaned and watched Battlestar Galactica.
Saturday we got our Christmas tree, which is like 9.5 feet tall and super full. Lorne keeps making fun of me, but I've always wanted a really big tree and (despite having a den with a 20 foot ceiling) my mom always insisted on putting the tree in a room that limited our trees to being about 6 feet. So we have tall ceilings and I was all, "But look, the tallest group of Douglas firs are only $4 more than the 6 foot group." I love it so much. Anyway. Then Lorne made guacamole and I made some glazed nuts and we had some friends over to watch the Apple Cup, which was fun, and now the Huskies are coming here for a bowl game! Woo. Then we packed up the car for the craft show Sunday.
Sunday I had my craft show. It was so weird, there were SO many people there for the first two hours (at a few points there were at least 15 people crowded around my 6 ft. booth), then it was pretty empty for the last four. I still did pretty well, and almost everyone that stopped by my booth after the initial rush bought something. It was so strange though. I got to know a couple of the vendors around me though, and they were pretty funny so that was nice, and I think one of them is going to do a custom jewelry piece for my MIL for Christmas in exchange for a bag. Then last night we put lights on the tree, watched more Battlestar, and I processed credit cards. WOO!
Happy Birthday Vinny!!
Our weekend was pretty relaxed. We did some Christmas shopping, ran the usual errands, and went to church. Saturday night we took our moms to dinner at on of my favorite places that we don't go to enough because it is a bit of a drive. Sunday was weird because the Pats are on Monday Night Football but we watched some games anyway.
good: I took Lila to get a haircut Saturday and her too-short bangs are adorable. Also took her to a friend's house for the evening for a Christmas decorating party and she LOVES the decorations. She was so well behaved and fun.
Bad. Fought with husband all weekend because he's a wanker and found out today i'll prob. be unemployed by Christmas. Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
Oh no, Sam! Why?
Noisy, what are you up to in BSG? Are you still enjoying it?
Mine was great. Saturday I did some much needed new clothes shopping and had lunch with my mom. While I was at lunch, I got a call from a friend telling me she had an extra ticket to a stage verison of A Christmas Story, front row! So I did that Saturday afternoon and it was pretty awesome. Husbands met up with us afterward for dinner & drinks.
Yesterday we put on 6 layers of clothes and stumbled through the snow in search of our tree. Loaded it on top of the Beetle, and slipped and slid through the snow all the way home. Not fun. Then I drank hot cocoa and wrapped presents.
Oh man Sam. I'm so sorry.
The recession has hit us really hard and it's become impossible to stay afloat.
I just watched the episode where Gaius hanged himself and we were teased for like, 3 seconds that he was actually a Cylon, and I just about peed my pants. "LORNE ARE YOU SEEING THIS? LORNE! WAKE UP LOOK AT THIS!" and by the time Lorne was awake I saw that they had fooled me. I'm really enjoying it. I have such a hard time when characters I like do reprehensible things, but I think that's probably the mark of a good show - everyone is nuanced and they act like actual people; no one here is 100% good or 100% bad.

yeah, I went back and forth a few times on some of the characters. I think what made the show great was that everyone was flawed in their own way.
Sam, I'm really sorry.
Oh Sam, I'm so sorry. Can I kick someone in the face for you?
Winger, I'm almost done!!! It'll be coming your way tomorrow.

I'm sorry Sam.
Saturday night we had dinner with our friends, and their daughter asked Ian to be the ring bearer at her wedding in May. He's going to look cute in his little tux. A little girl my friend's daughter used to nanny is going to be the flower girl. She is 9 and has cystic fibrosis and is so excited. She and her parents were also at dinner, and she was so great with Ian. I want to hire her as a mother's helper.
Yesterday Ian was exhausted from being out late. He fell asleep in his chair at 11:30AM, and pretty much slept until almost 4:00.
Mine was pretty well terrible.
Sean is not taking to the Ferberization at all well. It's very draining. We've decided to give up on it for naps for now because it wasn't working, he was just screaming for the proscribed 30 min and then falling asleep on the boob the next time he nursed.
Nighttimes have been a mixed bag with 45 min - 2 hours of screaming, but he is sleeping longer stretches, at least 6 hours in a go, so I do feel like we're getting somewhere.
But I feel like the worst mother in the world, especially now that he's lost his voice from crying so much and sounds pathetic and raspy as he babbles to himself. He's still his happy cheery self so I guess his spirit hasn't been broken yet.
The hair grows in thick where the horn used to be.
You are not a bad mother PDXria! It is really hard, but you all will be happier once he is sleeping longer periods.
Good luck! It will all smooth out soon!
You could be right, I'm sure readiness varies kid to kid. Ferber and Weissbluth seem to think that 4 months is old enough, and at our 6 month appointment my pedi recommended we start ASAP before he starts having separation anxiety. But kids can be so different, who knows.
