So I was doing more lurking on the GP board. Some girl was 9 when she got her first period! That's like super-young, right? I didn't get mine until 8th grade. How old is that?
Re: holy crap...
I can't imagine trying to deal with that in 5th grade!! It was enough of a pain in the ass to have to deal with it in 8th!!
LOL you two always make me laugh!
I was like 11-12, 6th grade. My mom got hers at 10 yrs old!
Its not so super young anymore, girls are getting it younger and younger. One of my old coworkers her daughter just got hers a couple months ago and she is 10 too, its crazy.
I was 11 when I got my period. I didn't know what it was and thought that I was bleeding out of my bum. Fun times all around.
The youngest person I know to get pregnant was one of my best friends from elementary school. We stopped hanging out in junior high because she started hanging out with a rougher crowd, and she got pregnant at 14. She kept the baby too. I had her on FB for a while but had to delete her because every post was like "Going to go smoke some weed with ___" Insert name of random dude she was dating at the time. Or in her info "My favourite think to do is wake up, and have a toke for breakfast" Awesome mom, huh? Her kid is 13 or 14 now and it is crazy...I'm just starting to think about having kids, and now her daughter is pretty much the same age as she was when she had her. She could be a grandma soon.
One of my really good friends was born when her mom was 13 (mom was 12 when she got pregnant). I didn't learn this until I was in university, and I'd known this friend since we were kids. It's crazy, because this friend totally has her shiz together, and always has. She's always been a really good girl, did awesome in school, has her PhD in some crazy science, has had tons of her research published in super impossible journals...you would NEVER know that she'd been raised by an insanely young mother. Just goes to show that it can be done right.
I used to know a boy who was 13 when he KU his 12 year old girlfriend, she had the baby when she was 13....
I got my period when I was 12, at the end of my 7th grade year. My sister didn't get hers till she was 13 or 14.
I got mine at 13 too
I was just reading an article on foxnews saying that kids are trying to get pregnant at a young age now so that they can try to be on 16 and pregnant or teen mom and to become celebrities. My jaw hit the floor while reading the article it is too crazy for young children to think this.
This is exactly why I don't agree with tv shows like this. They're making these young girls think that having a baby so young is glamorous and easy. I'm 21 and no where near ready to be a mom, anyone that young isn't ready either.
Exactly. I'm not saying that packing the girl off to "visit relatives out of state" like they used to is the best way to go, but getting KU way too young was certainly not something anyone used to strive for.
I was just-turned 13 when I got mine. I am now 27 and still do not feel nearly mature and together enough to have a kid, even though rationally I know that I am.
That makes alot of sense, I'd never thought of that before. I have a sister who's getting ready to turn 10, maybe my Mom shouldn't wait till she's 11 to have the period talk with her like she did with me.
OK, so I was a super early bloomer. At the end of 4th grade (age 9) my teacher told me I needed to get a bra. So that summer, my mom bought me some and I started wearing one every day with the beginning of 5th grade (age 10). I started my period November of my 5th grade year, age 10. I was mortified, embarassed, always a heavy bleeder, and miserably sick with cramps EVERY month, even to this day. It sucked a$$ big time, and still does. I was 5'6", 120 lbs, with a C-cup bra, a tiny waist, and hips in 6th grade. It was not a fun time for me. I was made fun of A LOT. The other thing that happened was that older high school boys (driving age) would hit on me, and that was scary.
Another case for organic foods and meat / milk that is produced sans BGH and other hormones. Yuck.
I was 12 when I got mine - as was my mother when she got hers. I remember being in like the 6th grade and mortified...nobody ever told me what to expect. It came on a wknd thankfully but when it was Monday and time to head to school I PACKED my jeans pockets full of pads since I didn't know how many I'd need. I probably had a stash in my backpack, too. hahaha. I kind of hope this baby is a boy since I won't have to sit him down around 11 or so and tell him to get ready for a lifetime of bleeding every month and how to deal with that.
I got my period when I was 11 or 12, the day we left for our Destin, FL vacation. Yup, my second day of having a period and I had to use a tampon. eek!
I agree about all of the hormone stuff. I only buy organic, free range meat. You see 14 year old girls with mustaches and DD boobs, it's ridiculous!
What?
I love having blonde leg hair!!!
I haven't shaved my legs since Thanksgiving and you can't tell at all. They don't even feel prickly.
Totally went to my younger cousins middle school play and the teenage girls there had boobs as big as mine (D) and I swear some of them had mustaches....I blame the hormones!
