Totally random randoms

I don't think my shoes match my outfit very well today, and that makes me kind of sad.

(Now, you go.)

  • I'm not sure what I want to drink while decorating our Christmas tree tonight.  Beer, wine, or eggnog.

Eggnog!  I cannot decorate properly without eggnog.  It is the only time I will drink it.

  • WOP - you better go with wine or beer as your time may be running out.  Stick out tongue

Mine:  My wardrobe is making me feel so...gumpy?  Is that a word?  I need new clothes!  We find out about H's bonus next Friday.  I'm hoping it is higher that what we are thinking so I can take a big chunk of it and get myself a ton of new clothes.

And on that thought, any clothing store suggestions?  90% of my clothes are from Old Navy, so that is OUT.  I want nice, quality clothing!

  • My livingroom is not empty anymore!

It has a couch, 3 chairs, a fireplace/media center, a tv, a Christmas tree and a rug!  It almost feels like a home now.

I just need to get the bookcases to put in the cubby hole, repaint (oops) and find artwork and then the livingroom will be complete.  Whew.  So exciting.

Bookcases are going to be a little tricky since they are huge and from Ikea.  I don't think they will fit in the back of my SUV.  But I'm looking forward to my second trip to Ikea.  :)

  • Kasa I have the same thing going on with my shoes today, too.

Within the past year, I've discovered that I really like Ann Taylor Loft's clothes.

Besides that, I've been buying clothes from Express, New York & Co, and Banana Republic (sales rack or outlet store).

I've run into problems lately where I want nicer, better quality clothes, but I don't want to pay the prices that typically often come with that.  Even the sales prices are often more than my cheap ass wants to pay.  Outlet stores can be helpful though.

  • Molly, re: your wardrobe. First, take stock of what you have. Get rid of pieces that don't fit, are in poor condition, and that you just don't like or want to wear. Once you have done that, think about what you're missing. Do you need more neutrals, more sweaters, more patterned items, more belts, more pants, etc.? Then you can shop with purpose. I found that when I went shopping without knowing what I was missing, I bought more of the same kinds of things, which didn't help the wardrobe woes. For staple pieces like pants, jackets, and skirts I love Banana Republic. Most of my clothes come from there. I also like Kohl's, particularly the Vera Wang and Elle collections. For accessories and more trendy impact pieces, I like places like Forever 21 and Wet Seal.

Haha!  This has always been my problem.  But I'm officially tired of crap clothes, so I'm movin' on up.  I will definitely have to hit up the outlets!  Good call.

  • I have to clean the kitchen and empty the trash  blah. I hate doing it. I wanna be in bed instead of work today - it's friggin cold

The pathetically sad part is that I need everything.  Everything fits poorly, is in bad condition, or is just cheap.  I have one belt that is too big.  No nice sweaters.  1 (only) pair of jeans that I like but don't fit great (they rest of my jeans don't fit or the bottoms are fringed), and lot of other clothes that are worn out or old or don't fit.  No dress pants.  A bunch of cheap skirts.   It's ridiculous.  I could be on What Not To Wear show and would not care if they threw out everything in my closet!   Oh, I need new shoes too.

I hate it too.  Lucky for me, it's H's job to take out the trash.  And he is cleaning the kitchen (not much to clean - just a few dishes to handwash) this afternoon.  Party!!!

  • I think I am treating myself to a Schuler's visit later today.   It have 7 books I want to get though, and I need to narrow it down to one.

I love Schuler's.  And I love their used book section.

  • So, we "have" to go to this Christmas party tonight that my husband's cousin and his wife throw every year, and I'm not looking forward to it at all.  We've gone a couple of times in the past, and the guests are all part of the hosts' close group of friends... and then us.  The people there are all pleasant enough, but their lives revolve around their kids, their church, and their farms... and I don't feel like I have much to add to those subjects.  Tongue Tied  Also, they play this weird white elephant gift exchange game that's kind of annoying.

But we feel like we have to go because it's family.  And we do like the cousin and his wife.

I went to the outlet stores last weekend and found some cute things :)

Which outlet mall did you go to?

We went to Howell a couple of months ago, but I was kind of disappointed in the selection and prices there.  I've had good luck there in the past though, so maybe it was just an off day for me.

You're a much nicer person than I am! I would totally say 'screw it' and stay home.  I'm always really annoyed when I'm in a close group of people who I have nothing in common with and all they talk about is stuff only they would know.   For example I went to a childs birthday party a month or so ago and all of the adults were doctors and pharmacists with small children.  I'm not a doctor or pharmacist (hell, I didn't even go to college- flameaway) and I don't have any children.  It was hard to interact with everyone because I didn't have any input on their topics of conversation.  In situations like that I probably wouldn't go to their party, but invite just them over for dinner because I enjoyed their company, just not their group of friends.

  • Good afternoon. I'm enjoying a "relaxing" day off work. Ok, not really.  As soon as Brian left for work with the girls to bring them to daycare, I rushed around trying to clean up as much as I can. Then I had a hair cut, ran errands, picked up the girls from daycare around 12:30. After I put them down for a nap, I've been running around trying to pick up the house more and get things together for tonight. We have Brian's wrok party tonight, so we are bringing the girls to my parents. I'm trying to get everything packed up and ready so we can leave as soon as Brian gets home from work.

I figured I needed a Nest break though.

This is so me. I even go into the stores saying I can spend more than I usually do. Are you going to be around during the Holidays? Two years ago I went shopping on New years while the girls were napping and got a new back-to-work wardrobe.  I need to do that again - esp in pants. We should go shopping together for moral support. Big Smile

I will be selling two brand new Ann Taylor dress slacks - black, are they brown, and a light brown with a light pin stripe. Let me if you are interested them.

  • I had to have my iPod Touch replaced today under warranty. Bad battery I believe. Went to Apple store went thru dealing with the "genius" staff and got my new one and just finished restoring my data.

Went and viewed office space with DH and one of his clients about what to do with the space now. It a full floor of a building downtown GR near the Arena and the police station. Brain storming an idea os leasing the "offices" in it to freelancers who need a professional office with built in tech support. Something like that. Still storming out some ideas. It's a nice floor and has a lot of potential without having to do a lot to it.

  • Today's groupon is for Oasis Hot tubs. Hot tub would feel so good right now.

  • My 11 year old son wrote a letter to santa, because he still believes.

In the letter he wrote that he's been bad during the year, but didn't get a girl prego, and didn't facebook someone to death, so he wants to know if he can still be on the nice list.

I'm so not sure what to think of that.

Mostly humor with a bit of concern ( didn't get a girl prego?) I think he is eligible for the nice list and did admit he's been bad. ;)

I'm slightly concerned - debating on showing it to my counselor during my next session for her thoughts on it.

I wonder if he did it just to get a rise out of me.
