Wintery Wednesday Randoms
Good morning! I'm up early so I can get on the roads for work...ugh. It's sooo cold out there! 18?, to be exact. I'm wishing I had a remote starter on my car, but I'm not putting that much money in a 12 year old car.
Happy Hump Day!

Re: Wintery Wednesday Randoms
Molly's getting a new dishwasher.
H's bonus isn't as high as I was hoping for, but it is higher than H was expecting.
I am very thankful for it regardless.
Anyone have any brand recommendations? I think our appliances are Frigidaire and Whirlpool.
This has been a rough week for whatever reason - I can't wait for it to be done!
Toby might have to have surgery again and I think that's really got me down. :-( After the first surgery in September, he was supposed to be back to normal by Christmas. And here we are and he might be going back under the knife, which makes the last 4 months of not allowing him to have any fun a big ol' waste.
This makes me sad :-( Poor Toby
Woot! I have no recommendations, we've never bought one as ours came with the house. I don't even know what kind it is, I just know it's black. Which makes my knowledge of appliances similar to my knowledge of cars.
JuliD, I'm sorry to hear about Toby. Poor guy. That must be so, so frustrating for you all. They think another surgery will fix him though?
Molly, congrats on getting a new dishwasher! I know exactly as much about dishwashers as Juli does. Mine is white.
Ever surgery should fix him, if he would just quit un-doing the surgery. He gets a month or so into recovery, starts putting weight on it and looking good, and then manages to injure it again. This is with us limiting him to nothing - we've had to take away all of his toys and he isn't allowed to play with Gordie or even to be out in the yard at the same time with his brother. I just want him better so he can do all the fun thing he used to do.
A couple of weeks ago, my husband got me a lucky bambo plant for my office. It was a gift for my Nanowrimo "win".
Unfortunately, I think it's dying.
The leaves and stems are starting to turn yellow. According to my internet search, this indicates that it's gotten too much fertilizer. I haven't given it fertilizer though.
I'm terrible with plants. I keep glaring at it and ordering it to live. Hopefully that helps.
Awww... that must be so hard!
Hmmm, is it over-watered? I have no idea, I'm also notoriously bad with plants. Which is why the only plant we currently have is our Xmas tree.
You have one more plant in your house than we do.
I just did more reading on this subject and apparently this type of plant is very sensitive to the chemicals in tap water, so you're supposed to water it with distilled water. I've been using tap water. I think I'll buy a jug of distilled water to keep in my office and see if that helps.
I think I remember something about this at a seminar on bamboo. They said that you can leave out a cup or bucket of water and let the chlorine evaporate out too. I think distilled water is a heck of a lot easier though.
x's 2.
I hate my job when we are short staffed. And I hate it in the winter. Both of which happen to apply to today.
That makes me so sad. I hope he is able to fully recover this time around!
I hate that I don't seem to have enough to do right now. I don't mind just sitting here, but I need to at least *look* busy in case my boss walks by, that's the challening part! I mean, I could sit here and nest all day, but that wouldn't fly with the boss lady.
I read that online too. I intended to leave a cup of water out before I left work yesterday, but alas, I forgot. So I think I'll just buy distilled water for my finicky little plant.
Meeko had to have pancarpal arthrodesis on her front left leg 5 years ago. She jumped out of the bed of a (parked) truck and landed funny on the driveway. She tore her achilles tendon (or the doggy equivalent) and a piece of bone in her ankle came off with it. She was in a cast for 6 months and we had a REALLY hard time keeping her still and calm. We ended up crating her a lot of the time, as the cats got her all riled up. We brought her crate in the living room, made it cushy and comfy, and sat next to it when she was in it. She hated it at first, but we had to do something.
I hope if Toby has to have this surgery again it is his last. I know how awful it is to go through all that with your pup
You know you might be ready for kids when you are giddy wrapping a large present for a child.
We bought our friend's little girl a new sled for Christmas. I wanted to wrap it in a big box and Nick found the perfect one at work and brought it home. I wrapped the sled in the box last night and it's awesomly huge. I can't wait to see her face when she sees it
I'm glad you're Meeko got better!
And thanks for the well wishes all. Someday we'll have a healthy pup again.
Ha. I have the opposite problem. We are soooo busy.
Awww fun!!! How old is she?
My mom got T a sled for Christmas. I am ridiculously excited to start using it with him. I bought him a pair of snowpants and boots in anticipation.
She's 2 and a little (big) bundle of energy!
Morning Ladies.
1.) I seriously can not take the fact that Toby may have to have surgery again. That is very upsetting. Every time I see his pic all I want to do is hug him for the longest time.
2.) It looking like we (DH) will be moving into a real live office with in the next few weeks. Biz has been stead and starting to grow a little bit more every week.
3. Meijer's has 50% off Olive Oil this week and they have a store coupon for $2.00 off the same olive oil. A 2 liter bottle just cost me $6.94 when normally it would have been $17.00
Woot! Glad to hear that business is going well.
Good to know. I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow. Thanks!
Tonight a friend of mine and I are going to do Toys for Tots. Its been too cold so stupid windshield fluid is frozen. What is the kind that you can get for -10?
Deeder - for M for xmas, I got him an olive olive and mix set. It comes with the olive oil and the different stuff you can put into it to make the mix for diping bread - ymmmm!
I ordered steaks last night so we can have that xmas eve. Some people think it's weird but we actually do our xmas the night before. M is from Europe and that's what they do. This is the 3rd year of doing so and it's pretty fun.
