Ditto EAB -- ressypea for the Poinsettia, please. It combines three of my favorite things, so I can't imagine how it could be anything but amazing.
I am exhausted. We tried to introduce a bottle for the first time tonight, and she would have none of it. Oh, so much screaming until I just gave up and nursed her. We were planning on going to my office's Christmas party on Thursday, and now I'm despairing of being able to leave her that long.
Oh Rose, that sucks. Did you leave the room and have Joe do it? Maybe try another type of nipple? Also, I remember seeing the ladies at daycare hold the baby close and sort of sneak the bottle in right next to their boob. Apparently I was a baby that felt very strongly that milk should only come out of a boob, and my mom couldn't do anything about it until I could take a sippy. Hopefully she'll come around, keep trying. You guys need a night out.
And here's a recipe that looks about right:

Of course, I'm up so bloody early because Mucho wanted a 5:30 am snack, now she is back to sleep but I can't stop coughing and thus can't fall back to sleep myself. Boo. I could have used that last 45 min.

Sorry, I can't help myself, I have to ask... have you considered doing something less intense then Ferber first? Ferber just makes me break out in a cold sweat.

Sorry about all the not sleeping babies. Miles went through a 5 am waking period, but somehow got over it (at least for the time being), and is now back to a 7-7:30 wake up call. I found it to be the worst thing because I REALLY value that last 45 mins/hour of sleep.
Somehow he just worked his way out of it, but the doctor told us that when he cries at 5 am, just let him keep on crying until an appropriate wake up time.
I doubt Kristin has considered anything else. She's a biotch of a mother who enjoys punishing herself. the only other thing she's considered is leaving owen in a snowbank to teach him a lesson.
Meegs, this is way over the line in telling someone how to parent their child.
I feel like I stumbled onto the bump without noticing.
Isn't somebody supposed to be passing the popcorn?

Sorry... this came across wrong (re-reading it, it does sound a bit judgey). I was honestly asking out of curiosity if she had tried something else first. I know she talked about sleep training before, but couldn't remember if she did something else first. Ferber is not my cup of tea, but if that's what your child needs to sleep better, then I can't say anything about it. I should have broken up the two statements better.

I didn't take offense. Yes, I've considered other options. But Dr Sears makes me stabby and the No Cry Sleep lady was condescending, so I couldn't get through the book. And as someone who needed her mommy at night way longer than I should have, I want my kids to have a good relationship with sleeping independently.
I think not every method is one size fits all and Ferber worked for Maggie, it was what she needed to teach herself to settle. Yes it's hard to hear them cry but I feel I'm doing my child a disservice by not helping them learn the skill of putting themselves to sleep at a certain age. But it may not work for O, and we won't force it if he needs something else.
In general, I find people who aren't in favor of Ferber haven't read the entire book.
