Evening randoms?

I love Heith. I've been both loving and hating being by myself this week. But he makes it hard not to miss him when his texts in the last 24 hours have included "I saw a dolphin!!!", "There's a Sephora by the hotel, want me to get you something?!",  and "TACO BELL!". Just a gem.

I really want to see this movie after coming across this YouTube video. I'm not usually into the cowboy types, but geez louis, he is effing sexy. It's the voice/eyes combo.

I really like the song too. It is also rather sexy.

If you are what you eat, then right now I am delicious Christmas fudge, and lots of it.

Re: Evening randoms?

  • Christmas with no sweets is rough, yo. I've had one cooker in the past 12 weeks.
    image
  • I'm home alone and trying to not eat all of the Christmas cookies a friend brought over before Zane gets home.

I'm trying to figure out how many copies of Santa pictures I need to order to avoid family griping.

    image
  • When I heard them say it was Dec 15th today on the radio I freaked.the..out. 10 days until Christmas????  So much too do still. I haven't put the tree up yet either. I am questioning if I should even bother since I will then spend 99.954% of my time keeping B away from it.

Jens - I missed the post about where he is?

  • I am going shopping tomorrow night for everything I need to make food for the family coming on Christmas Eve. So far my menu is:

    Bacon Parmesan Crisps

    Mini Almond Cream Cheese Danishes

    Sausage Balls

    Cranberry Feta Pinwheels

    Hummus and veggies

    White Chocolate Candy Cane cookies

    Toffee bars

    That should be sufficient, right?

  • Tonight we're just drinking straight champagne. Who's staging the intervention?

Maggie told us tonight she wanted a t-rex and presents in her stocking. After I bought a ton of princess stuff today. Ugh.  Yes, I caved and bought her Disney princess stuff. She loves Belle.

Belle is unquestionably the least offensive princess. She has good taste.

What happened to Tinkerbell?  Or is that the same thing as Belle?

  • Oh, she loves Tinkerbell too. I forgot, I got her Tinkerbell jammies for her stocking. Belle is from Beauty and the Beast.

  • it dawned on me that next week is christmas while i was driving into work today. Wowee!

tonight i got alison to go to sleep before nine, in her crib, which is quite a feat considering her recent rash of hellaciously terrible sleeping. she's been refusing to sleep anywhere but in her swing in our bedroom, or in my lap with my teat trapped in her maw, for what seems like forever.

today we had our holiday lunch/secret santa exchange. we pigged out on catered Qdoba, and then i discovered that the person who had my name was absent today. boo!

the Mythbusters we're watching features Seth Rogen, and his stoner huhuhuhuh laugh is so distracting! i imagine he smells like doritos and bong water.

  • B is getting a T-Rex in his stocking and one under the tree. He better like dinosaurs (and robots).
  • I'm going to Buddha's house for Christmas.

J&J, he's on a coaching trip with his basketball team, IN HAWAII. That's what happens when you get a bunch of kids with rich parents on a sports team. I could have gone but decided not to when I started my new job in September because I didn't want to be the newb taking a week off three months into my job.

  • Hawaii is for losers. SK is where it is at!!!

Katie - Yeah Alison!!!! Lets hope tonight is not a blip in the radar.

  • My sister sent Ian the Fisher Price nativity set for Christmas.  I love it.  Ian played with it all night, and seems to like the three wise men the most.  He kept taking the angel off the top of the manger and replacing it with the baby Jesus.

  • Kay, Maggie has the FP nativity too. It's so cute and she loves it even more this year than last. She knows everyone's names and tonight we couldn't find baby Jesus so she grabbed a giant stuffed snowman to fill in as the baby in her tableau. We're also teaching her Away in a Manger to sing to Jesus.

  • Kay - is that the Little People stuff? B has the ark and seriously does not stop playing with the animals that came with it.
  • SK IS where it's at. Who needs sunny beaches and dolphins when you can have snow and wind and some more snow and also more wind?

Although after hearing about the storm you guys got there, I'm not feeling so much like we're the redheaded stepchild province anymore in terms of weather. At least for the moment. It was supposed to hit us yesterday, but it just blew snow for a while last night and then it was beautiful today, which created a slushy mess. But I'll take that over people getting trapped in cars for 24 hours.

  • I don't know who that guy is in that video - but he hot. I almost wanted to be Blair for a second there...

It's taken me nearly 2 days to address half my Christmas cards. I haven't started shopping yet. My tree is up with lights but no ornaments. So far not so good, yo...

I'm going to the doctor's tomorrow. I'm having some very painful pains when I pee and poop. It makes me want the claw my way off the seat and up the wall. I said to myself today while laboring midstream, "Self, this sh!t ain't right." I'm a huge advocate of home remedies and googling one's way through WebMD before hopping on the bad foot and heading into the doctor's office... But, I can't find anything that really matches the pain online. I'm going to feel like such a loser when they tell me it's gas and I need to just fart it out.

I just got my SS gift!!

  • It is the Little People one.  He has the wheelies ramp and boat as well, and I bought him the farm for Christmas.  I think one of my sisters in law is getting him the ark.
  • this whole standing up in the crib business is crazy frustrating. it was bad enough when she started sitting up and being able to thus avoid falling asleep. now she can peek over the railing and be all nananananana t t t t (i think those are kiss sounds) and it's hard not to be drawn into her little games. then i make like a tree and get outta there and she acts like i threw all her favorite toys into the fireplace.

it is no longer just a matter of putting her in there, it's convincing her to lie down and fricken relax.

    image
  • Katie, we're there too. We have to go in and lay Owen down at least once every bed/naptime. I don't care what anyone says, 6-12 months is hard if not harder than newborn. They just are DOING SO MUCH OMG right now.

Hezz, I hope your netherregions are okay. That sounds awful. I was on the stool softener way longer with O than M. But didn't have pee pains. :-(

    image Ready to rumble.
  • B goes all stiff bodied when I try to lay him down when he wants to have a party in his crib. That kid is strong man...I have a hard time getting him to lay down. So sometimes I just drape his blanket over him, stuff his soother in his mouth, tell him I love him and walk out. He falls over and goes to sleep right away.
  • It's blistering cold out. Misery. But I'm now inside with chicken noodle soup so I'm good.

I'm ridiculously excited for Christmas decor this year. Ex-H was very set in his ways and how his mom does things and very traditional so that's what we'd mostly do. I won out with colored lights and the fun ornaments my mom and I collected when we'd try to do the holidays when I was in college, but otherwise, he was pretty stubborn.

So at Target I got two sets of bright, glittery ornaments in pink and lime green and orange and teal and I got a giant glittery teal bow for the top of the tree because I "let" him have the ugly-ass star he picked out and I can hardly contain my glee.

What I did NOT find at Target, however, were tree lights. WTF. They had all kinds of "special" lights like the ones with the big round ball covers and ones with stars and big outdoor ones but not one single box of just regular lights for the tree.

Last week or so on ML, someone said she keeps track of Christmas cards and if she doesn't get a reciprocal card for a few years, she drops them off her list, even family. I didn't do cards last year because it was a shiitty time and I didn't plan to this year because ... I dunno. But now I'm all worried I'm going to get the cut. I love getting cards and hang them up and everything! Maybe I should get a box and just send reciprocal cards and be that lame-o.

Hezz, I hope your down theres are a-okay. Does the peeing feel UTI-y or something else?

Buddha, please send me a box of mini almond cheese danishes and some feta cranberry pinwheels and, hell, just all of that.

I am a lot like a lot of your children in that I would be pleased as punch if Santa brought me a t-rex or a robot.

  • I'm sorry your unmentionables are being such asssholes (heh..) Hezz. I think when it comes to those parts, it's better to just go to the doc. I hope it's something for which the cure is relaxation and cookies. And watching the video of that hot guy over and over. I've been doing that for the last half hour and pooping and peeing feels great for me!

Hearing about all of the cool Christmas stuff that kids get to play with makes me excited to have kids. I want a Fisher Price baby Jesus.

Buddha, do you have a recipe/link for the candy cane cookies? ?Those sound excellent.?

  • Okay. I love you all. I do. And you make very cute babies and I want to play t-rex and robot with them.

BUT HOW IN THE MOTHERFUCKINGFUCK DID THIS POST TURN INTO YET ANOTHER BABY SLEEP HABIT POST??????

It's actually really hard to describe... the poop part is easy - it feels like ripping gas pain. But the more I go, the worse it feels. It feels like it's pulling out my lower intestines towards the end. The pee has almost the same feeling. I feel fine, feel like I have to pee, I start peeing, and when I'm nearing the end it feels like this tremendous pulling on my bowels/rectum (holy hell, I said rectum), and then I want to die.

It's not a burning pain like a UTI. It's a very weird pressure/tugging/gaseous/ripping pain. And when I'm empty, wiped, and up walking around it hurts for a good 5-10 minutes until my bladder starts to fill again.

Hope y'all had yer dinner already!

  • Heeeeeeeey, I guess I'm done with my soup ...

KIDDING. That sounds horrible. :( I hope they can fix it quick for you.

I almost said "lickety split" but then I thought of ML's R&R's lickety split and Ick!.

  • Sounds like something is torn to me. Or like your muscles are in very poor shape. Are you doing your Kiegels regular?

yeah, not so much. I could be the "This is your pelvic floor on drugs" poster child.

"I can walk like a penguin!"
