Hasn't started snowing here yet, but Grocery Store Armageddon is underway in anticipation. Glad we have enough food for the next few days and can avoid the crazy. I hope this is done by Monday, because we have reservations at Momofuku Ko Tuesday night.
Anyway, we're planning a lazy day on the couch with movies and lots of different popcorn recipes made in my fancy new popcorn maker.
What did Santa bring you and what will you be doing during the blizzard?

Re: Blizzard Watch 2010
The snow has started here! So now I feel better about leaving CT last night instead of today.
Today will be a day of sloth, fiddling with my Kindle, and probably making farm animal-shaped pancakes soon.
My haul:
KINDLE!!!!
Stuffed Stitches and a little Stitch race car. I'm a child.
VS underwears and bra
Purple argyle iPhone case
Nice knives
Some plates for my plate wall
Target GCHusbands should be like Kleenex: Soft, strong, and disposable.
You were definitely smart to head home last night. My BIL and SIL were supposed to catch a Bolt bus back to DC today, but we put them on the train last night. Sucks, but it was the right call since the snow has already started in VA.
Nice haul!

I had to join the clusterfukk at the grocery store this morning since I really did need to do my food shopping. It's already snowing here, and I'm looking forward to a day inside without having to travel anywhere. We're having bacon and eggs and Bloody Marys as soon as Fran gets back from the hardware store, then watching football by the fire for the afternoon.
Once naptime arrives I'm going to have to get rid of some old toys to make room for the new haul
Yeah, my aunt, her husband, and my uncle were supposed to head to cape cod last night to my grandparents' and then my uncle was flying back to St Louis but my grandmother called in the middle of dinner and forbade them to go, lol. And then I think he moved his flight up to try to get out before he got stranded here.

No blizzard for us, obviously, but we headed out early this morning to score some half price Christmas decorations. It was surprisingly crazy compared to last year. I hope everybody stays safe and warm!
I made out really well.
Brett got me four prints from a photographer I love and had them framed. They're so beautiful! I also got money to spend on new media storage for the living room, and a new storage cabinet thingie that I've been wanting for a while for in there! I'm so excited to get rid of some of our cheap ass college furniture.
I also got a new purse, Casablanca on DVD (since I've never seen it Brett said he had to get it for me), a really nice cardigan, and other assorted stuff.
The nerve!

I was in Boston for Christmas but my flight back, scheduled for 5:30 tonight was cancelled. Delta rebooked me on a 7:30 am shuttle this morning to La Guardia.
Took two de icings to leave Logan but not a flake here when we got in at 9:30. The blizzard here started about half an hour ago.
I would rather have stayed but I try to limit visits to 3 days. That's why my SIL loves me
Yeah, I had to brave the supermarket this morning at 8:30. It was horrific. I still don't understand why people insist on making food purchases with the assumption that they'll be snowbound for 4 weeks.
Now we're in for the day. Bring on the snow!
My H went to the grocery store - thank goodness I dodged that bullet. I would have kicked someone in the face. He said a women was in the self-checkout (minimum of 15 items) with a whole cart full of stuff. Jerkface.
Anyway, he also just picked up a case of beer, and popped open some bubbly for mimosas! Love it.
The snow just started. The Eagles/Vikings game should be interesting in this crap...I wonder if anyone will even go to the game.
ETA: Looks like the Eagles game will be postponed. My H is irrationally pissed.
We headed back early from CT, too. Just got home and it's already snowing pretty heavily.
Some of the stuff I got:
--camera flash
--Cuisinart Griddler
--a CakeSpy library mug which is AWESOME
--Target and Amazon GCs
--electric wine opener
--cookbooks

Its snowing here now and I've heard we're either going to get nothing, or we'll be trapped in our houses for weeks and forced to eat the cats. It all depends on what channel youre watching, I guess. We are fully stocked for food at least so on the off chance it does get nasty we'll be all set.
I bought myself a nook, (am I the only non-kindle person??) a digital camera and a couple nice purses and claimed they were from Santa. My H got me a 1987 VW Quantum Wagon. It kind of made the sweater vest I got him look like crap.
I have to head out to the store now : I normally shop on Sundays anyway, hopefully all the crazies will be gone by now. I just hope I get an extra day off out of this. Staying inside otherwise, MIL and her husband were supposed to come over for dinner, but I doubt that's happening now. Oh darn.
Santa was good to me. I got a new puffy warm coat, another Rebecca Minkoff bag that I happened to find at Nordstrom Rack last weekend
a watch, some jammies, and a couple other little things.

It's snowing here. My H always goes to the grocery store on Sunday morning and he said it was a zoo. I am glad that I don't have anywhere to be for a few days and that this storm won't make my school year any longer. I will probably spend the blizzard watching movies, baking and perhaps even getting some cleaning/organizing done. Oh, and drinking...definitely some drinking.
My H got me a Blu-ray, a video game, and a CD. But there was 1 more package hidden that makes him the most awesome husband ever. He printed a picture of the Welcome to Alaska sign to tell me that we're going on a 2 week cruise/land tour in July.
SQUEEEEE!!!! I am so excited because we talked about doing this trip as a last hurrah before trying for babies and then he started piling on the reasons we couldn't go. But he's a sneaky, lying liar because he had already booked it.
Is it too late to add to the 2011 predictions? If not, I'd like to predict I will get knocked up after tossing my birth control overboard.
In other news, my mom's future husband got me the gift of gluttony by treating us to a fancy and amazing steak dinner.
My mom gave me the gift of a gambling addiction by giving me money while we were in Atlantic City.
My brother is unemployed so I wasn't expecting a gift from him. Instead he came out to me in the parking lot of the casino. Not the biggest surprise but still not what I was expecting when my mom asked him to walk me to my car.
It's 75 and sunny here. I'm soaking it up to bring home with me. We did go through a nasty whiteout near Shasta, CA on the way down, though, not to mention the driving rain through southern CA.
The hair grows in thick where the horn used to be.
I am very jealous of all your snow. We aren't going to get hit by the storm at all.
I got my traditional caramel apple dipped in chocolate and a chocolate covered treat (this year rice krispie square - last year a fudge brownie). I also got Super Mario Bros for the Wii, a tea infuser, stock pot and cash monies.
Now I am watching Pirates of the Caribbean and drinking some wine.

Have you had any thundersnow? They said we might get some and I remember last year it freaked me the eff out because I had never heard of such a thing before.

It is fun to say. My H kept repeating it like he was announcing a monster truck show.
I want some snow!
We just got home from Amarillo today, so we're being lazy bums, doing laundry and watching Lord of the Rings and waiting for our chinese take-out to arrive. And I'm snuggling with Dr. Caesar who's been stuck to me like glue since I walked in the door. Poor little lion head, he gets so lonely when we have to leave him here for several days like that.
I was a totally spoiled brat and got most of my presents early this year (my Keurig, Kindle and cover), but I also got a book light for my Kindle, a nice little bag to carry my laptop and papers and files and junk to and fro work, some cozy socks and eucalyptus spearmint scented stress-relief aromatherapy goodies. And we're headed to Waco tomorrow for our Christmas with my in-laws so I'll get more goodies then, probably some gift cards and cash monies and whatnot. Like I said, me = spoiled this year.
I also wanted to pass along my congratulations to Tummy and her H on the birth of James! All the best to you guys!
Yo! No snow here. Phew.
Our Christmas was lovely, very busy and full of food and family. I'm tired. I got clothes, gift cards, a cast iron soup pot, the Martha Stewart Homekeepers book and a laundry sorter.a pair of pearl earrings (from Mike, we laughed that he's trying to make me into a 50s housefrau-but I asked for these things), a steam mop. Practical Christmas 2010.
Maggie and Owen were entirely overwhelmed by very generous relations. Maggie loves best her dollhouse and Mickey Mouse choo choo express train. Owen's taken a shine to his new push/ride on toy.

We had our snow on Christmas Eve. It was very cold and blustery, but today is even colder. One awesome present was going out to shovel on Christmas Eve and finding the our neighbor had already snowblowed us. When it comes to snow maintenance, my husband is about the laziest ever, and I think that my neighbors have observed me in all of my frustrated glory. I took them a plate of goodies.
I also got 2 cookbooks that I have been wanting, a couple of blu-rays, a TCU Rose Bowl Shirt, and a necklace.

No snow here tonight but we got our fair share a couple weekends ago when we had 20"+ dumped on us. They are saying we'll get 12-20 more inches on New Years Eve! Eep!
We attempted to go to Iowa on Friday but it was still really slick/snowy from Thursday night so we stayed here Christmas Eve and somehow found a last minute reservation at Ruth's Chris. YUM. Then we made the mistake of going to Black Swan. *shudder*
When we finally got to Iowa there was majah family dramaz. Grandpa-in-law (GIL) basically told my SIL that she was a mistake! (!!!!!!!!!) MIL yelled at GIL and it was all kinds of awky. :-/
My loot was great this year: A Nook w/light cover, 3 warm sweaters, a half dozen scarves, some yummy lotion, gift cards to Target, Gap, Barnes&Noble, and a couple of really pretty necklaces. All-in-all it was a good haul. Oh and my SIL taught me how to crochet so everyone is getting scarves next year. :-)
We made up for the couple of weird awkward days but coming home tonight and having a fire, lots of wine, looooots of fudge, doggy snuggles, and the Sound of Music. *bliss* :-)
My Christimas Eve started out with a phone call from Mr. Spiderman's mom informing him that his grandma had died. She was the last grandma he had left, so he was pretty sad and guilt ridden over not having visited in who knows how long. We checked out flights to Iowa to see if we could make the funeral, but the prices were hovering around $1000 per person.
After a bit of time to recover from the bad news, we opened gifts. I scored a red Wii, Super Mario, and Mario Kart. This is the first game system I have owned since the original Nintendo and wow, am I out of practice. I am turrible. I've only messed with Super Mario so far, but there has been a lot of cursing and "Carry yourself, you lazy bastard Toad!" emanating from my mouth. I also got the Pioneer Woman's cookbook.
My parents got me Earth the book and a Kindle cover that I won't use because it's just a pocket. Those kinds of covers just seem so pointless to me. I need to protect my Kindle from myself when I'm reading it, not just when I have it sitting untouched.
After faking him out with box after box with nothing in it but new boxer shorts, Mr. Spiderman finally got to the driving game. He was happy about it, but you could tell he was a little bummed at his lack of haul. And then I pulled out the big box I had hidden with his new steering wheel. The sounds of joy have not stopped since. I swear, if I have to keep hearing about how awesome the new steering wheel is and what a true to life racing experience it provides one more time, I'm going to smash it to pieces.
We haz no snow, but there's a chance for it on Wednesday.
