This might be long, and I've got to run, but I wanted to give an update on today's events.
We met Molly (birthmom) and her mother, sister and sister's wife at 10am in a mall food court. We had a great conversation for about an hour. They were really nice, and she had good teeth. She said that the babies in her family go really well with a nice Pinot Noir.
They actually seemed excited for us which was awesome. Molly said she was afraid that we'd worry about her changing her mind and assured us that she won't. Doesn't mean she can't, but it was good to hear.
Then at 1pm, we met Colin and his mother, his mother's wife, and his sister. We showed them pictures of the nursery and his mom started to cry because they brought us a present (I'll post pictures tomorrow) which was a pink winnie the pooh hoodie towel, and our nursery theme is pooh, which apparently convinced her that we were meant to parent this baby.
Both families gave me the impression that they would like to have some involvement in the baby's life post-adoption. They didn't say so (I'm sure they were told not to at this meeting) but that's the vibe we got. We really liked them, and will probably make sure they get to see the baby fairly often if they'd like to once the agency gives us the green light, and we've had enough time to get to know them better through letters.
Both families are sending us pictures of themselves, and Molly will be sending us ultrasound pictures.
It was a tremendously emotional day, but in an extremely positive way. And I discovered that Tuna Melts are not illegal everywhere, just in Boston.

I have something in my eye. I swear...
That is really awesome! It sounds like a great match. Congratulations!
Awww, I'm glad that everything went so well! Good teeth are definitely a plus!
I don't know if this was mentioned earlier, but how involved will you guys be with the rest of the pregnancy? Are you alerted when she goes into labor? Do you come to the hospital then? Or do all the adoption proceedings happen afterwards? Everyone I know who has adopted has done it internationally, so I'm curious as to how this works.
Sorry if I'm asking questions you already addressed before.
Yaaaayyy!!! I'm glad it went well. The gift part gave me chills.
Are the parents really young?
Oh man this made me all goosebumpy. Especially the part where the birthmom is named Molly. sniff sniff
No seriously, this is all so touching and exciting - I'm so happy for you guys and it seems like you've been matched with a family that is such a perfect fit for you. What a great day!!!!

I think as a tribute to Molly and Colin, you should name the baby Colly. Or Mollin.
I love that they wanted to reassure you guys that she isn't going to change her mind on you. And that they brought you a gift! And that the gift was Pooh! Usually it's only the baby that gives people the gift of Poo(h). But most importantly, yay for nice teeth!
I am so freakin excited for you. I may or may not have spent most of the day looking at baby gifts on Etsy for you.
I hope you don't get poisoned and die from eating your warm tuna melt. Everyone knows they have to keep it cold.

dude. DUDE. this is WONDERFUL!!!
when does this baby get born? is it a boy or a girl yet? on a scale of 1 (unlikely) to 10 (certain) what are the chances that this will go through?
My SIL has an open adoption with my niece's birthparents...it works for them- it seems complicated, but my SIL is happy with it. they see her birth mom a lot.
I am hoping that this is the one for you guys!
Gosh, with all the gay family members, are you worried the baby might turn out to be a lesbian?
Kidding! That sounds like it couldn't have gone much better. I am so so so happy for you.

Thanks Everybody. And especially Christin, since she's the only one who really cried apparently. I wish the rest of you weren't such a bunch of liars.
It's been a long day. We just got back from dinner with our parents, giving them a blow by blow. So I'm not aswering any of the questions tonight. Not because I won't answer, but because I'm pooped, and I need wine and reruns of 24 and bed. So tomorrow, I'll throw out an ask me anything post to fill in on all things adoption.
Thanks again everybody. The Fentonvibes (why have we not been calling them Fentovibes all along? Or just Fents? In honor of the queen of vibing herself?) So thanks for all the fents, and for the lucky tuna!!
