Your wedding band (poll)

Re: Your wedding band (poll)

  • I answered while sleeping, etc but something weird is going on for me.

The last couple days I've been getting a rash around my wrist/hands that is itchy and makes me swell.  I literally have indents on my finger from my rings.  I think maybe it's dry skin/chapped skin from the weather change but I'm not sure.  Anyway, I've only been wearing my wedding band at night now, and for a very limited amount of time.  As soon as I leave work I pop the e-ring off and give my finger some relief.  I can't bring myself to take both off!

It's very weird to just see the band though.  I love it because I love my band so much, but I also miss the rock Wink  Here's to hoping my hands heal soon!

  • I take mine off when I shower, sleep, handle raw meat, and sometimes when I'm just lounging around the house.  It's always on when I leave the house.

  • I didn't vote... My wedding band and e-ring are separate. I take my e-ring off all the time and wear it on a necklace for work (I am a baker). My wedding band surprisingly does not get that dirty at work because I wear gloves a LOT when I handle the really messy stuff. I just hate washing my hands so much and gloves make it easier.

The only time I take my wedding band off is when I clean it once a month or when I go surfing (which surprisingly I haven't done since October. what is wrong with me!) My friend goes treasure hunting with a metal detector in the water all the time and tells me about all these rings he finds. Even though my band is pretty tight, i'd be heartbroken to lose it!

  • Like others have said, I tend to take mine off when I shower, put on lotion, cook something messy, or am hard core cleaning.

However, I also just take mine off for the heck of it sometimes.  Like today, I had it on all day long while I was out doing stuff but just got home and didn't feel like wearing it so it's in my jewelry box.  If I am out and about I always wear it, but I'd say about 50% of the time while I am home, I don't wear it.  Sometimes it's nice to give the ol' finger a break/chance to get air lol.  I retain water easily which makes my fingers swell once in a while, so it's nice to just have nothing wrappeed around my finger.

I voted for seldom... I tend to not wear it when I am at home mainly because I have scratched L with it. Its always on when we leave the house but at home I find myself taking it off to wash my hands, cook, shower, clean so its just easier to take it off so I remember where I put it. It kinda makes Mike a little crazy but I think he understands.

Does this make me a bad wife?

This. No worries this doesnt make you a bad wife. :) I wear it when i leave the house but when i'm home i'm actually home i'm usually cleaning, baking or sewing and its much easier not to wear it. Plus I did the same with me e-ring so DH is used to me not having it on at home.

  • sleeping, showering, washing hands

sleeping: we have a iron bed, my first week of being engaged i had to take it in for prongs to be tightened because i hit the headboard in my sleep and knocked a prong loose :(

showering: just dont, i'd get shower gel/conditioner in it :(

    washing hands not so much.....honestly

  • I can't wear my e-ring at all right now...stupid renal insufficiency causes my extremities to swell.  I also can't wear socks at the moment.  Great fun in Midwestern winters, lemme tell ya, but I'm used to it.  My wedding band is slightly bigger, so even though it's putting a little dent in my finger, I keep it on unless I'm pouring candles or working with something else messy.  It stays on for showering and sleeping, though.
  • I chose "never"... but i do take it off when I am making something messy... either crafting with paint or making dough. Other than that, it stays on.

I took all three rings (I have 2 bands) off on Christmas Eve when I made sweet potato biscuits, and forgot to put them back on. I realized it about 1/2 way to my aunt's house on Christmas day... my finger felt SO naked all day!!
