Hello and Good Morning

This is like my thing now, isn't it?  I have nothing particular to bring to the board so I just come in and say good morning.

Fent and I watched six episodes of How I Met Your Mother last night and spoke to a drunk Groomz, which was pretty cute.

I'm just here for about 2 hours, so if anything interesting is going to be said today, I prefer it be within that window.

Re: Hello and Good Morning

  • Hullo. I'm trying to find the energy to shower and go to Michaels and maybe Ikea. Thank god I'm not a lady of leisure, I'd never get anything done. I'm lazy as shiit.

  • Yo yo yo. My goal for today is to get out of my Kermit the Frog pj's that I've been in for two days. And probably go to Target and Macy's. Maybe Home Depot if we're feeling crazy. I also think I might take Maggie for her first haircut, but we'll see. My ankle is killing me, I think it's tendonitis and I can hardly bear weight on it so perhaps none of this will happen.

  • I'm actually at work today for the first time in two weeks. I am overwhelmed by my to-do list.
    image
  • i'm here looking for kid-friendly activities for New years Eve.   Sharon and Bram are playing nearby, i assume Lois is either dead or in rehab.

  • So, Christin, my post from yesterday is probably on page 27 now. I'm going to Vegas for a few days next month, since you have such close ties to that wonderful city :p do you have any recs for shows or fun stuff? I've only been once before for a couple of days, so we didn't do much.

  • I actually showered before I took Ian to daycare this morning.  I was hoping to go out for breakfast, but F really wants to take two more loads of junk to the dump, so he said he'd take me out to lunch instead.  I know, it's all very interesting.
  • I also woke up with some serious sinus issues this morning. I just blew my nose so hard that snot got in my eyelashes. I'm just that boring that this is all I have to offer.

    image
  • I finally have nothing particular to do today and it's wonderful. I should do some schoolwork but that's probably not going to happen.

How is Fenton? I haven't seen her around this week but I guess she could've gotten lost among all the Kindle Kwestions.

I'm pretty sure it's pronounced your mom's a moron and if you didn't have your name legally changed by the age of 22, so are you. Unless you're from another continent. -Groomz
  • Fun cmc!  Where are you staying?  Shows in Vegas are pretty pricey.  Are you willing to get spendy?  D never is, so mostly we've always gone to shows that demon sis had free tickets to, like the shows at her hotel, or show's she's been in, etc.  You should go see the lions at the MGM.  Free and I could sit around and look at lions while you booze it up.  If I were going to spend money on a show, I'd go to any of the Circque shows.  They're pretty much all awesome.  I saw one a couple years back but I forget which one.  I also really enjoyed the aquarium at Mandalay Bay.  That's a really gorgeous hotel.  And everyone loves the free water show at the Bellagio.  Actually, there's a really nice bar at the Bellagio that demon sis always made us go to.  Pricey, but it looks out over the water show and its got a fun, fancy feel.

Since I know you enjoy the shopping and the fashion, I will say that the nice hotels on the strip have some amazing shopping.  The Venetian has great stores, and cool atmosphere.  Lots of statute people.

Anyway, are you more interested in high-end fun or super kitsch?  For super kitsch I'd take a taxi to the old strip on Fremont street.  The Fremont street "show in the sky" is kind of fun, and the area has lots of street performers and the cheesy "old Vegas" feel.

    Dang girl...that takes some talent!

I remember once when my allergies were bad I blew my nose, completely missed the tissue, and got it ALL over my hands.

Ahhhh how I love snot talk in the morning...

It's raining here.  It's making the massive piles of gray gross snow even grosser.  Yippee!

  • Fenton is a shell of her former self.  She doesn't even bathe anymore.  It's sad.

  • I'm rocking out to Florence and the Machine and trying my hardest to make it to lunch today.  There are even less people here today than there have been all week.

I just spent my Christmas monies.  I couldn't wait anymore.  I really hope my grandma actually gives me the $50 I'm expecting on Saturday because I already spent it.

  • I can't remember where we're staying, but I think it's one of the new high rises. We did see the lions and the water show at the Bellagio, actually. All we pretty much had time to do was wander a few of the big hotels/casinos. I wanted to get to Fremont street. So far on my list I have Fremont St, see a show, and the neon graveyard. We didn't get to the Venetian, so I'll have to get there. I don't know how much shopping T will tolerate though :) Several people have recommended seeing "O", but the tickets for that were super pricey. But I don't know if I want to risk waiting to get tickets to something at the half price booth the day of, ya know? Eeep, I'm so excited!

  • I have to put in a full day's work today and am dreading it.  I just want to go home and play Wii and nap and stuff.

  • And cmc - I strongly recommend you go to a late breakfast at Hash House a Go Go.  You may not want to eat for the rest of the day after that.  I wasn't going to recommend it because it's pretty far from the strip and not practical without a rental car, but apparently they now have a second location at the M Resort, which is about 10 miles south of Mandalay Bay.  So, still a cab ride from the main drag, but not to far, and totally worth it.  Pancakes the size of your head.  No.  Bigger.  The size of MY head.  It's insane and amazing and I love it.

And looking at the website, they apparently also have a location at the Imperial Palace, right on the main drag.  Not my favorite hotel at all, but convenient.

  • I would LOVE to see "O", but again, we're cheap.  If you're not going to spring for an amazing show, still see something.  Even if it's cheesy.  I've gone to some Impersonator shows.  Actually, demon sis used to be in Legends in Concert in Branson as a background dancer.  Cheesy, but still good entertainment.  Since you're not first timers I would just say wander the nice hotels, Ceasars, Venetian, Bellagio, see a show, go to Fremont St., and eat at Hash House.  There.  I planned your trip.  You're welcome. : )

Excellent, thank you. Meet me there and I will pay you in pancakes the size of your head for your services.

  • Seriously.  Sage fried chicken and bacon waffles with a Bloody Mary?  Yes please!

  • I saw the Hash House on a Travel Channel show.  It's on my list if I ever get to Vegas or San Diego.

I'm excited to spend mine. I tried on Sunday but I only had a short time and couldn't find anything I liked. Boo.

  • I'm sorry you're stuck working Cali.  That blows.  At least you have my texts from last night to entertain you.  Just read them over and over.  But don't text me.  My phone is in the other room and I don't want to get up.

cmc - Sorry.  Vegas is on my "not so long as that biitch is within 100 miles of the city limits" list right now.  But I do suggest you go to Planet Hollywood and walk by the Pleasure Pit making snide comments about the slutty dealers.

  • I really want pancakes now.
    image
  • We have a Hash House here too. Sooooo yummy.

We're going to the Holiday Bowl parade this morning and the Holiday Bowl tonight. One of my adulterous friends will be there and we told him we were uncomfortable with how everything went down and didn't really want to hang out with him at the game or.parade. Now if we run in to him it will be super awky.

    image

  • Eek.  That would be super awkward Noisy.  Do you know if he's sitting anywhere near you?
    image
  • If you order a pancake the size of your head, it'll be harder for them to hide it from you in the microwave.

I'm not sure. I'm hoping that since we got our tickets from the stadium website and he got his through the alumni association he'll be elsewhere. The email exchange between us explaining why we were going to not see him was pretty awky too.

  • Good morning. I'm playing with my SS gifts from Hezz and trying to get the motivation to make myself something to eat.

All of this Vegas info is awesome, we are hopefully going there sometime in Feb or March, and neither of us have ever been. Is the outlet shopping as crazy awesome as I hear? What are the best/worst hotels to stay in? There are some great deals on expedia. Makes me want to book it now now now.

  • Ouch, Noisy. :( Awkward. I hope you manage to avoid him. Maybe you should all wear ski masks and carry guns, just in case. That oughta do it.

I'm having toast and popcorn for lunch. I'm a child.

  • I'm going to be super exciting today too and go to Petsmart, a local specialty store called Trader Joe's, and Kroger.

I'm debating whether or not I want to go to a vigil for one of my students who died yesterday.  She died trying to put out a fire in her house that was accidentally started by her dad sleeping with a hair dryer pointed at his feet in bed.  It set the mattress on fire.  They tried to put it out and couldn't and then they couldn't get out in time. I just don't get the dad's thought process there and it's making me really mad. She was a great girl and it's going to be really weird on Monday not having her in class.  I should probably go to the vigil.
