Woah - McCain volunteer mutilated

Re: Woah - McCain volunteer mutilated

  • If anything were carved in my face, I'd definitely get medical treatment.  This is bizarre.
  • imageBlackMamba*:

Richard said the woman refused medical treatment after the assault, which happened outside the view of the bank's surveillance cameras.

    WTF is this about?

I don't know.  Even if the cuts weren't that bad, I'd be concerned about infection, but I guess some people are stubborn.

  • The medical treatment thing is strange indeed.

And I really don't think I would call this poltical. This is a criminal who robbed someone.

  • From that Pittsburgh Gazette story:

Police say the 20-year-old woman, who is from Texas, reported that the attack occurred around 9 p.m. after she withdrew $60 from an ATM at Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street.

She said a man armed with a knife demanded her money. She gave it to him and began walking toward her car, which has McCain stickers.

Although the robber had moved away from her, he became agitated when he saw her car, punched her in the back of the head, pushed her to the ground and carved a B into her face, she reported.

"This is what she's telling police," police spokeswoman Diane Richard said. "We can't substantiate it at this time."

Okay, now that's weird.  I wonder why they phrased it like that.

Ditto this.  Even if it is political, which I'm still not convinced of since they haven't caught the guy to admit/prove that it was politically motivated, it is overshadowed by the fact that there was a criminal act ongoing.  This is a criminal, not a crazed fan.

  • I'm surprised there aren't any other abrasions on her face and that her eyes aren't blood shot from the black eye.   The scratched in perfect B, combined with her refusal of medical treatment makes me very suspicious.  And if it is in fact a lie, there should be a special place in hell for someone who makes this shit up and says a black man did it.

  • Wow.  not to mention, that unless the picture was flipped, the B is backwards.

    This is f'd up.

  • It was pointed out on the E08 board that the attacker could have been standing over her head and the B would be the right way for him.  Or the picture could be printed the wrong way.  Or she carved it into herself well looking in the mirror.  3 bizarre possibilities.
  • All very good points.

This is terrifying, either way it pans out.

  • On the news they said the woman only refused to go to the?hospital?that night. She wanted to go today instead. I would never do that but it's not as bizarre as refusing to go altogether.?

    From the Pittsburgh Tribune:

"He continued to kick and punch her repeatedly and said he would teach her a lesson for supporting John McCain,"

Well call me skeptical bastard, but... I'm skeptical.  Whether a mugger said anything shouldn't add to or detract from the crime, and he should be prosecuted to the full extent possible.  But... I have a hard time buying this story.
