MASH, well, kinda

Re: MASH, well, kinda

  • I'm super late to the game but I'll throw in my 2 cents! Smile

What kind of dwelling do you reside in?: A 1926 Craftsman-style bungalow with all the original wood trim and details in a fairly quiet/good neighborhood in Providence, R.I. I also own the lot next door so I actually have a decent and very wooded yard, which is rare in the city.

Do you rent, own, live with family, etc.?: I bought it in 2001 when I lived alone and never considered I'd be married 10 years later!

How many rooms/what are they?: Five plus bathroom. LR and DR are sort of one space (in typical bungalow fashion) separated by a large archway, two BR (one is now my office) and kitchen. It has a full unfinished basement and an enclosed front porch.

Is your current place too big/too small/just right?: Too small, but we'll make do by getting rid of the DR table, moving LR to former DR and turning office into a walk-in dressing room for now. Office will move to former LR and become more like a library/den. Also I need to purge a lot of clothing and other "stuff."

What's the parking situation?: I have a garage that I use for storage, as it was built in 1930 and not designed to accommodate today's cars. The driveway is big enough to accommodate three cars but I have a travel camper taking up one spot. I also have a curb cut for my extra lot, so we hope to take down the fence and some large bushes and make another spot there so we're not playing car shuffle now that he's living there. (Overnight street parking is illegal in the city.)

5 year plan?: I'd love to say we'll move but I doubt it. I love having such a low mortgage payment (bought a few years before the big housing boom around here). I'll be happy if we can make the small modifications that will make it more accommodating for Bryan and all his stuff!

10 year plan?: Who knows? Hard to think that long ahead. If we stay there, it will be close to being paid off by then.
