Crockpot help

Can I fill the crock with food and store it in the fridge overnight then place it in the heating element the next morning? I googled and have seen many different answers. I am worried that the crock may crack or some people said you could get sick since it's not airtight. Has anoyone done this?

Re: Crockpot help

  • I do this all the time.  I don't have time to prepare in the am so I do it before bed.

  • You can always use plastic wrap in the crock if you're concerned about the lid not being air tight. Just remember to take it off before cooking ;)

  • i've done this, i usually put press & seal or saran wrap then the cover. i take it out of the fridge right when i get up and then turn the crock pot on right as i'm leaving so that the insert isn't as cold. that may be unnecessary but i do it anyway.

  • Thank you! I figured it would be ok but when I googled it those crazy people had me second guessing. Thanks again Ladies!

This. I did read somewhere that you are supposed to let it sit for a few minutes when you take it out of the fridge before you turn it on. Something about shocking it.

  • I ditto Cheeky on what I do !
