I got a call from my mom urging me to check into the flu shot a little more. Obviously I'm going to discuss this further with my pedi, but I would like to know if you or your child have/are gotten/getting the flu shot and why/why not. TIA!
My mom said that the news has reported multiple hospitalizations from the flu in children this year.
Re: Flu shot
I always get the flu shot, and so does H. He can't afford to not work because he's sick (time is money for attorneys, after all) and I hate missing work. Our students seem to be champions at carrying various viruses so I figure I don't want to take my chances.
I have never had the flu, ever. I've never had strep, either. I am currently knocking on wood. I really don't get sick much anymore. Teaching builds that immune system, it would seem.
I have not once, in my entire life, had the flu shot. And, I've never, ever had the flu, either. As far as I'm concerned, I don't plan on getting one, either.
Which, is perfectly fine by me... I hate shots.

I think you have to do what you think is best for your family. M has gotten the flu shot this year and the past. DH and I have both gotten the shot this year. With the past year that we had (I went to the ER twice since I had been really sick) we thought it would be best to protect ourselves. We are also around people all day so germs and viruses are spread around alot.
I think just like any other vaccination you just need to do your research and figure out what is best for your family.
