  • no, I will defend the battery powered aspirator to the death.  did you guys plug up the other nostril?  I used it just this morning and mined gold from both sides!

  • Someone needs to sell me totally on either the nosefrida or the battery-powered one. Evie has been clogged up since Thanksgiving.

  • Ian did not like to be swaddled.  True story.
  • The battery powered one plays music. Like any savage beast, Dimi will lay totally still for music.

I used washcloths for extra boob cloths, but burp rags might be handier. Just don't waste your time with burp rags smaller than a kitchen towel -- you will need the coverage.

Dimi liked the Swaddle Mes (that's the one with the bear, right?) just fine.

"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
  • This is a great post.

Heym I bought the replacement parts for a pump I'm using for 25 bucks on amazon. That way if I decide breastfeeding isn't for me I'm only out 25 bucks.

  • A friend is letting me borrow a pump so I just need to buy attachments (hose, etc.). Definitely planning on getting swaddle blankets. I was looking for some recs though so definitely got that.

Cali, we haven't done anything for the dogs yet. I am planning on getting that book Fitty recommended - And Baby Makes Four, I think? Any other dog owners have recs for getting dogs adjusted?

We are planning on having the baby in the crib from night one. The baby's room will be about 5 steps away from our bed. I know co-sharing a room is great in the beginning, especially if you're breastfeeding, but I think having the baby sleep in another room will work best for us. If I'm wrong, my MIL has a bassinet she wants us to use, and pending on its safety (I have to check it out) we can always use that in the beginning in our room.

Can I use one of those nasal things on my own boogs? Because these bloody, crusty, abundant things taking up residence in my nose are driving me INSANE.

  • I don't know nothin bout feedin no babies, but my SIL swears by the cheapo Ikea washcloths. They're like $3.99 for 10 and she uses them as burp cloths, washcloths (obviously), etc.

  • I actually just got a couple of packages of old school cloth diapers to use as burp cloths.  Super cheap.

That's mostly what we used as well. They're much thicker and work better than the cutesy burp cloths.
