s/o ear piercing

Now I'm curious how many of us have pierced ears and how old we were when they were pierced? So, get clicky on the poll and for those who click yes, tell us how old you were.

  • I think I was 4ish for the first holes, 9 for the second ones and 13 for the third. I remember getting all of them and it hurt every time!

  • Wasn't allowed until 12 and then we could choose if we wanted to.

  • 10 y.o. for the 1st holes.  14 y.o. for the 2nd.  And probably close to 16 for the 3rd.  2nd and 3rd are more or less closed up now.

  • I believe I was like 4... months. Embarrassed I'm pretty sure my parents took me to a stall at the Pulga when I was an infant and got my ears pierced there. There are pictures. Hella Mexican!

  • I decided I wanted them pierced when I was 8. I was soooo excited about getting to wear earrings (but hadn't ever really actually thought about HOW it was done). When we got to the store, I was SO scared. My mom actually got her ears pierced while we were there to "show me" it wasn't that scary. When I finally worked up the courage, I was totally traumatized by the experience. I can still remember that "cha-chunk" sound the stupid gun made. EW!! I remember standing at the register after it was done, and feeling this buzzing and ringing in my ears like I was going to faint. Then we walked out of the store and I projectile vomited all over the middle of the mall floor, then stood crying as my mom and a couple strangers tried to clean up around me with paper towels.

I took the earrings out right away and they closed up.

I decided I wanted to get them pierced for my wedding (2 years ago), so I did. It was slightly less traumatic, but still not something I'd ever like to repeat again. I've only recently gotten comfortable with taking earrings off and putting them on. I guess it's just a thing with holes in the body that aren't supposed to be there. I'm getting shivers just thinking about it. Bleck! At least I can wear earrings now though...

  • I was 5 or 6 and I remember being afraid of the pain, but wanting it soooooo bad. My mom told me if I didn't cry we could go for ice cream...I remember being surprised it didn't really hurt and I felt all grown up.

  • 7 for the basic ear piercings...

The extra ones...started when I was 16 and continued until I was 19 then I took 7 of them our when I was 21 and the rest of the "odd" ones out when I was 25.  I just use the 2 bottom holes but I still have about 10 usable holes...used to have 13 but 3 fully closed up.  I am sure I have a picture somewhere of my swiss cheese ears....if you wanna see it I will look for it.

  • I wasn't allowed to until I was 13 - so that was my birthday present that year. I did the second ones when I was 14, and that was my parents' limit.  When I was 18 I did the third one, but it's now closed up.

Me, too. I remember it felt like I had my ears stapled. Indifferent My grandma just about had a fit that I was allowed to at all because she thought it was like getting a tattoo (which I did in my 20's and then she really had a fit). She thought pierced ears on anyone looked tacky so she wore clip-ons which I think look tacky. Stick out tongue

  • I was 6 I had to take a break after the first one and got a happy meal. I got mine done at the Stanford mall.

For some reason I find this really endearing.

  • I was in 3rd grade and it was before my birthday (because I got to change my earrings early for some v'day earrings my mom got me... that I actually still have) so I was 8. My mom SWEARS I was offered when I was in kindergarten but I turned her down. I don't remember that AT ALL.

  • I had my ears pierced when I was about 4 (I had a cousin who got them done so I wanted to as well). But the women who did it really messed up and I let them close because it was painful to take them in and out (even weeks after it was done). So I got them re-pierced again when I was 10.
  • I answered yes, but they've long closed up. I got them done first when I was 10, I think.
  • I think I was 10 and then 16 for the second piercing. The second one got infected so I just had them close up after a year or so.

  • 7 or 8, for the first. Then at 18 I did the cartlidge in my left ear. Then at like 21, I got them pierced for the second time on a random trip to the mall.

  • I was 4. We were at my grandma's house and I told my Mom I wanted pierced ears. She told me that if I called my Dad all by myself and he said okay that we would go do it that day. I pulled a chair up to the phone table, asked Mom the number, dialed Daddy at work and said Mommy says I can get my ear's pierced if you say its okay, Please Daddy. So he said okay.

We went to a drug store in town later that day and I got my ears pierced. I was so proud because I didn't cry!

I got my second holes around 14 and my cartilage done when I was 20.

  • The first time I was 13 but I took the earings out too early and they closed up.  I was 22 the second time and have not had a problem.

  • 13 was the magical age. we were able to get them done as soon as we got confirmed (a church thing). i had to wait a wee bit longer b/c i got confirmed in the middle of the lacrosse season and if i had them done before the season ended i'd have to either 1- take them out for games or 2- put tape on my ears during a game so the studs wouldn't fall out. neither sounded appealing so the day AFTER the season ended, i had mine done.
