We e-filed our taxes this weekend, and our state
return got rejected. Why, you may ask? Because the MA Dept. of Revenue
didn't recognize my married name as belonging to my social security
number. Even though the state of MA is the one who issued our marriage
certificate, even though my name was legally changed on everything three
+ months ago, and even though they've been taking money all along from
someone whose social security number they don't appear to recognize. No dice.
So
now I have to mail everything in, along with all kinds of documentation
so they get their heads out of their a**es and we get our refund. (Or their computer's head out of its arse, at least.) It's not a huge deal in
the long run, I know, but it's so. effing. annoying. Plus, my husband
apparently threw out the health care documentation (which is a
requirement in MA), so, hopefully, they will accept a copy of his health
insurance card in its place. And I may have given him a look and had a "THIS IS WHY WE CANT HAVE NICE THINGS!" moment with him, because who DOES that?
Rant over.
