  • We usually go to the Wild game but they are not playing this year. So, we are just going to grill at home and enjoy each others company. We don't do cards or gifts and if we go out we go the day before V-day to celebrate my birthday instead. I love my husband just as much any other day as I do today.

  • I got H a card, but I have no idea if he got me anything.  Our BDays are both in mid-March, so we'd rather celebrate then.

H took the day off so we are doing oil changes and shopping for a new dishwasher!

  • We went out to dinner last night at Psycho Suzi's which was our first time at the new location.  It was so fun!!!

We had thought of doing gifts, but then we found a great deal on a new vacuum, which we are in desperate need of, so that was our gift to each other.  Boring, but totally fun!  We spent an hour vacuuming together yesterday.  You know you're old when you are excited about a vacuum for Valentines day :)

  • DH and I usually just do dinner and cards. This year we'd planned on going skating and then dinner at Red Lobster for their 2 for $30 deal, but the warm weather and madhouse at Red Lobster thoroughly spoiled this plan.

We ended up at Brasa on Grand Ave and then walked down to Cafe Latte for dessert. We had an amazing night!

  • We went to Doolittles on Saturday and I think that's the extent of what we'll do.  I've been feeling really crummy this weekend so that's hampered our plans a bit.
  • Since it was our first V-day we did a little more than I would expect to do in the future.  It also coincided with our first dating anniversary so...

He took me to the Ivy spa to get couples massages yesterday and then took me to dinner at the Capital Grille (my fav restaurant.)  I also just got flowers delivered to me at work.  I bought him a gift and a handmade card with memories from our first year together.  Cheesy?  Yes.  Cute anyway?  I hope so.

  • Just cards for us.  Every once in a blue moon I get hungry for hotdogs and the good ones were on sale at Cub last week so I picked up a pack.  Now that it is nicer out, I think we're going to throw them on the grill and then watch the Bachelor.  lol - so romantic huh?  Geeked
  • Chinese take-out, a movie, flowers and cards.

    Nothing to special.

For the first few years we'd go to the Sofitel but decided not to do that - there's too many birthdays around Valentine's Day so it gets too spendy.

i actually think this is really cute. : )

  • We don't usually make a big deal out of VDay, and this year is even less than normal.

Since Andy broke his leg 2 weeks ago and was in the hospital for surgery, he hasn't been very mobile (it's all he can to to get to & from work at this point) he hasn't had the opportunity to get out and do any shopping. I haven't had time to go do shopping for gifts either, so we're just skipping gift exchanges this year.

  • Both Mollie and I have been sick the past week so we didn't leave the house.  I asked DH on Saturday morning if he got a card yet.  I could tell by his face that was his plan when he went to town.

I suggested that he stop at the bakery instead and get us some yummy donuts instead of exchanging cards.  So much better!!

  • We go to the same Chinese restaurant every year.  It's quiet and not too busy and we love it.

We usually don't do cards or gifts but this year I bought DH a card and a small gift.

  • We went out to dinner on Saturday.  Nothing too much today....although, I may plan on not bringing one stitch of school stuff home so I can actually pay attention to Big D.....

My mom and dad still send me flowers though.  Softies.

  • We usually just go to a nice dinner somewhere. However we recently bought a new couch and t.v, and our fridge crapped out Friday so we unexpectedly had to buy a new one, so it's a nice dinner at home tonight. I'm going to make DH a card today, but we aren't doing any gifts, and once I think about it we have actually never exchanged gifts!

  • Just cards for us!  I'll probably whip something up for dinner for us to have after Carly goes to bed.

Actually....I might steal that hot dog idea!  Randy loves Chicago dogs, so I think I might go during my lunch and buy stuff for that!  Thanks for the idea! Stick out tongue

  • The last few days has felt like an extended valentine's day! :) Joe was off from his evening job on Friday night for a V-day Surf-n-Turf cooking class we took at Whole Foods. Saturday he was off from his evening job and we threw my belated birthday cocktail party. Sunday we did home stuff, played with the dog in the yard, had lunch with a friend... and Joe is off tonight and tomorrow from his evening job, so it's 5 days in a row that we are spending a ton of time together. Love it! Tonight we are just having some leftover beef tenderloin (from the party on saturday) and relaxing at home. I have a card for him, and a pair of smartwool socks and some aveda cologne for him. No idea if he got me anything.. he asked a few days ago if we were doing presents, I told him I had something for him, and he said ok good - but I don't think he's been out to buy anything..

  • We are never do much big. Normally just a nice dinner at home. DH is on call this week and I am pretty sure he will get called out so no plans.

We are going on a date this weekend, but not really for Valentines day.

  • I gave him his own giant Reese's peanut butter hearts, a card, and I made a Funfetti cake. He gave me chocolate, a Caribou card for when I return to work, and a card. Nothing incredibly special, but at least we have the day off together.

  • We go to Victoria House in Victoria. We've gone there ever since on Vday since we started dating. I really look forward to it. It's usually packed, but it's so good. He proposed there 3 yrs ago, so it's always fun to go back and reminisce.

I think we'll exchange cards but that's about it.

  • I got him a card and i-tunes gift cards and he took me to Ruths Chris last night since he works tonight. I cook every other year and we go out every other year. So tonight it's me and Khufu hanging out at home. He'll get Merrick's Love Potion No. 9 for dinner.

  • I got DH a card. We had agreed not to get each other anything.

In my car this morning was a card and money. I guess that is technically not getting me anything. LOL
  • Well tonight, we both work. So we did our date day on Saturday.

Science Museum, walk downtown St. Paul, went to Big Bowl and had some Thai food (my first time there), went and saw True Grit and then lattes at Starbucks that night.

    We got each other cards.

  • We're going to White Castle! We've talked about doing it the last few years, but something always came up. I'm pretty excited.

Hey - no problem!  Nice to know I'm not the only one who occasionally thinks that they sound good!

  • We usually don't do anything special other than go out to dinner.  We're skipping that this year and H is making buffalo chicken tonight.  We're going to Vegas in just over 2 weeks so we'll have a nice dinner out there instead.

  • DH is not into Valentines day and believes that it is a waste of money, but I still like to surprise him anyway.  I just got him a small box of chocolates and put it in his briefcase this morning along with a handmade card.  I also put a few chocolate dove hearts in his coat pocket.  He found everything and texted me a pic. I know he won't get me anything and that is ok :)  I am going to make fettuccine alfredo tonight for dinner and a heart shaped pan of caramel brownies.
  • I have been really trying to sell my husband on the idea that we shouldn't celebrate v-day anymore now that our wedding anniversary is a week prior. We got our puppy and are going to financial peace university for our anniversary gifts.

In the past we have gone to a store, looked at the cards and picked one out that we would get for the other. Then we read each others card and put them back. Perhaps I will see if he wants to do this tonight after we get home from running to my mom's to drop off a table she wanted me to pick up for her. We'll also be stopping by my sister's so they can all see our puppy. So romantic I know! LOL

  • DH does not celebrate holidays, so we don't do Vday.  I am celebrating it with my little nugget though.  She is styling in her Vday outfit and I got her a pillow pet:)

  • We normally give each other a little gift.  This weekend, however, I booked us a night at the Westin, went to the movies, and out to dinner.  He ended buying me a massage.  It was a win-win for both of us.

He just walked in the door with a Twix Bar and flowers.  Yeah me!

  • We never really exchange gifts or cards.  We usually don't do much for v-day.  Since we're still new-ish around here, we were going to check out the Como Park Conservatory and then see the last movie we haven't seen at the Science Museum...  but DH has a chance at a job and he has to do some unpaid training on my weekend days. It's a bit of a bummer but it's sooooo worth the opportunity for him.  I'm thinking about getting one of those papa johns heart pizzas for when he gets home, but we've been doing so well saving cash by not eating out. Maybe I'll think of something cheap to make tonight...
