Today's my first day of unemployment, it's weird to not have a place to go to.

That would be weird.  And I can't believe your boss fired you in that manner. :-(

Baby Mod - Cadence in espresso from Walmart.com.  Here is all my info:

Mine is a Baby Mod - Parklane from Walmart.com.  Love it.  :)

Yet another thing we have in common ;)

We have this crib, too! I love it - and we got a lot of compliments on it.

I love the bedding - the colors are great.

    Very cute bedding Wop!

We just completed our registry this weekend.  I am still in major sticker shock.

And it doesn't get any cheaper after the baby arrives.  I always ponder how "poor people" do it.

The cost of kids is one of the reasons we don't have them at this point.

Did you have anything at the office that you have to go back for. Was this a shock. I can't imagine getting the new like that.

I'm a little mad over the way that it happened.  Thing is, he wasn't my boss, he used to be my boss, but at this firm, I worked in a seperate department.

He was out of town - I guess that's why it was over the phone.  He's cleaning out my desk for me, and is supposed to bring me my stuff tonight.  He actually lives on my street and has a key to my house - I might just tell him to leave my stuff there, and not be home.

I really dont' want to deal with it today.

Long story short - i had next to no training on my job.  My manager was tough and unapproachable when i would seek training.

I turned in the annual financials for review, and I was told by my partner that I did a horrible job on it.

On friday i was told I could either take a demotion, or switch to the tax department, part time until april 15.  I choose tax, as I used to work for the tax partner, and I hoped it would turn into full-time.

On sunday the tax partner called me and said that the partner said I burned my bridge by not taking the demotion, so I was done.

I'm confused over some of the details, but I was extrememly unhappy so in the end it's ok.

Nick and I went to Buy Buy Baby over the weekend just for fun, it was a cool store, but holy sticker shock on cribs!  Please tell me I'm not the only one that thinks $600 for a crib is crazy.  The cheapest one they had was $300 (and it seemed a lot sturdier than some of the expensive ones).

We got our crib from Amazon.com - with free super saver shipping :)  All in total it was less than $250 and has served us just fine.  All my friends with expensive cribs were so mad they spent so much when the baby started gnawing on the rails haha.

I think an overpriced crib was one of the biggest financial mistakes I made.  I justified it because it's a crib that switches to a full sized bed.

    Still a waste.

I'd so go cheaper next time.

I didn't think being fired over the phone could get worse, but it did. So they gave you two options, but only one was the "correct" option? That is TOTALLY $hitty of them.

    Sure!

We converted it to a toddler bed 3 weeks ago, and the little side rail is both cute and functional as well.  It's held up fairly well, if you ignore the teeth marks all over the front rail, but a guard could have easily prevented that.  Plus it comes with a rolling drawer for storage underneath which was nice.

And I'll go ahead and say that I have slept IN it with DS, both as a crib and a toddler bed, so I would say it's sturdy.  (DS has always been a horrible sleeper, desperate times call for desperate measures lol!)

Mine was $700 for a solid oak crib, and the conversion parts to turn it into a full size bed.  This did NOT count the mattress.

Yeah - I was never totally comfortable there.  I was there 4 months, and out of approx 40 people, i'm the 11th to leave, and third to be fired.

I'm irritated that they made someone who wasn't my boss tell me.  Not sure why they wanted it done on Sunday.  He lives 4 doors down from me, he could have came and told me later in the day.

for $150 at Target plus a free changing table.  It will work for baby H.  We went for an outdoor theme since we do not know what we are having.

I spent 3 hours in the ER early this morning due to my BP.  I have to do a 24 hour test so I hope I am not developing pre-e.

I feel like a bad kitty momma because I can't have my cats jump on me...they keep on trying to sit on my belly :(

  • Stopping in for a quick hello...

laura, that totally sucks. what a horrible situation all the way around. I'm sure something better will come along.

Kellie - I can't believe you are 38 weeks already. I hope you are not developing pre-e. Sending you good thoughts.

Wop - check out Baby Bargins. See if you can get it from the library. I would put a request in now, because it might take a few weeks to get. They have some good advice on what to buy or not buy and companies.  We got a convertible set and Allison chewed it a bit, but that will be the footboard of the queen bed, which isn't necessary. Luckily there are no marks on the headboard.

My biggest advice is to do your reserach on your stroller!!!! Don't be afraid to spend money there otherwise you may end up with more than one stroller.  Rather than go with a travel system find a stroller that has an adaptor bar so you can put the infant seat on it or stalk craigslist for the stroller frame that you can snap the car seat in.

Freeburger - your post cracked me up. I could have written it, esp about climbing in the crib.

ok....back to work...my last day working at home.

Yeah, we'll be taking another set of parents with us when we register so they can guide us and tell us what is, and is not necessary and where to splurge and where to save.  I'm already stalking CL for stuff.  Haha.  I've already got a barely used breast pump for $100 (that retails for $300) from a Dr. friend.  I'm all about gently used stuff!
