Sirata Beach Resort

A good friend of mine is trying to plan a destination wedding, sight unseen...

Do you ladies have any insight on the Sirata?  Pros, Cons, etc

Any specific vendors you would like to recommend would be appreciated too!

Since I got marriend quite a bit south of St. Pete Beach, my vendors would be too far away, but I know most of you got married in the Tampa/St. Pete area.

I told her she needs to get on the knot!

Thanks!

Re: Sirata Beach Resort

  • I love the sirata, but I've never been to an event there....and got married up north. Sorry. I'm useless.

  • I wanted to do my wedding at the Sirata but they wouldn't do 4pm. She def needs to get on the Knot, but it is not as active as it used to be.  GL

  • We didn't have our wedding at the Sirata, but most of our guests stayed there and we got ready there.  Its nice but a little outdated.  The rooms are typical beachy feel.  I would call it probably 3 star.  They were helpful but it was still decently pricey.  Our room block ranged from 119-289 depending on the type of room.  They charged me $2 per room to have welcome bags too.  Overall everyone liked it though.  BTW - we got married at the St. Pete Beach Rec Center, its about a mile away and directly on the intercoastal.  Its a nice spot but you have to bring everything in... catering, some tables and chairs (if they have over 120 guests), etc.  I loved our venue though and it worked out great for us.

  • We were married at the Sirata (four and a half years ago) and loved it.  They have the perfect location on the beach to get married...your wedding aisle is lined with palm trees.   But what we liked most about it was that there was many locations on the resort to have your wedding/cocktail hour/reception to choose from.  We loved the upstairs room...which can hold about 140 people (if I remember correctly)....it has a great view of the beach & sunset from the top floor of the hotel.

They do have minimums though...food & beverage.    By the time you add in tax & service fees, for wedding of about 100 people you are looking at 10K (which does include 5 hours of full open bar and plentiful appetizers).  We thought the food was pretty damn good. :)  And I will say that they bent over backwards to accommodate anything myself or my family wanted.

Their rooms are nice...some have been recently remodeled from what I understand.  Some are better than others.  If she is looking for a laid back wedding location on the beach...with a great beachy feel....where your guests can stay at the hotel and don't have to worry about car rental or travel....it's a great place.  Don't expect the Don Cesar...and enjoy!
