Monday Monday

I think baby is already inadvertently conditioning me for no sleep.  I just can't get comfortable at night!

The crib bedding I ordered is on it's way!  I'm so excited.

I treated myself to a full cup of regular caffeinated Jamacian Blue Mountain coffee this morning.

Re: Monday Monday

  • I laid the floor in the dining room and living room all by myself this weekend.  My dad showed me how to use the table saw and let me have at it.

Then he went home and I realized I needed to use the circular saw to make a cut, and decided to try it myself.  I watched him use it before, but I never used it myself.  It was scary at first, but I was successful.

I'm going to finish it tonight.  I have less than 3 rows to go!

  • Wow!  Great job!

Haha yeah, you aren't going to sleep well from now until the baby is about 2...heheh.  Wink

What bedding did you decide on?

Haha.  I know, but I was hoping I could get some good sleep for at least another few months!

I ended up with this set:

I've had my eye on it for like....a year, but wouldn't buy it because it was more than I was willing to spend.  Well last week Amazon had it on sale so I bought it!  I seriously freaked out when I saw the sale price, I was so excited that it was in a price range I was willing to pay.  It was still $20 over my original budget, but I LOVE it so it's worth it.

    That is really cute!

  • I am not happy with this day.  Mostly just because it's Monday and I'm still pissed about losing an hour yesterday.

Molly, I'm super impressed with your carpentry skills!  Awesome job!

Wop, I love that bedding set!

  • The bathroom remodel in the rental is finished.  It feels SO good to have a room completely DONE.  Wee.

Hopefully we are finished with the house in 2 weeks.  Smile

I'll be kinda sad that I won't have any projects lined up, but I did overhear my dad and brother talking about going to look at a house to flip or fix up and rent.  I think I might have to join in the fun and help out.

  • Desmond-

The floor looks great! So impressed that you did it all yourself.  I need to overcome my fear and need to try some DIY home projects.

    Have you ever laid tile?

Yup, twice.  The kitchen at my old house and just last weekend (or was it the weekend before?) in the bathroom in the new rental.

  • Wop:  That bedding is adorable - almost makes me want to have another baby!

Molly: I'm super impressed with your skills!!!  You go girl!!

Me:  I did a few odd jobs around the house this weekend -- I was proud of myself for installing a clothes line by myself (I had to borrow tools from the neighbor though).  I also removed the doors from the laundry room.

My aunt brought me 30 lbs of green beans from her garden.  That was a lot to clean, trim, blanch, and freeze - I'm still not done with it.

  • I'm filling out a March Madness bracket for fun.  I don't know anything about the teams, and I'm not in a pool.  I just think it would be fun to see how close my random picks will be.

  • I am still not used to the time change either. To make it worse, Mike wouldn't stop snoring last night even when I jabbed him. Tonight going to look at bridesmaid dresses with bff. I hate dresses LOL

Wop - I love that bedding.

Kasa - hope your day gets better

    Des&MOL - god job

Laura - good luck with the beans

Woot, go you!  The tool thing makes me thankful that my dad doesn't live too far away.  He has so many and I have none.  Haha.

And wow that is a lot of green beans!  I wish I had an interest in canning...I would love to stock up on veggies!

Canning veggies scares me -- the rules are complicated, and you can get really sick if you don't get it done properly.  I have a freezer, so i blanch and freeze things.

I can fruits, which is better because it's high acid.  It's kind of fun to do!

  • Busy day ladies,

Have to stop by State Farm and pick up the check for my car that was totaled. :(

Then have to have the car towed back to my place so we can get what we want out/off of it and get our other car up and running and order the parts we still may need.

I also have to stop at the library today as well and pull together paperwork for a meeting on Thursday.

  • Laura,  wow, that's a lot of green beans!  Your aunt must have a huge garden.

Wop, I need to start researching my ballot.  Typically, I just totally guess.  But last year, I spent some time researching and my efforts were rewarded by winning my family's pool.  Unfortunately, my family isn't doing a pool this year.  I'm in a pool at work, but that's huge and nearly impossible to win.  Ah, well.  I shall try.

On a scale of 1-10, how difficult was it?

We would love to replace the stupid sticky tile floor in our bathroom, but are a little intimidated by the project. I feel we have the ability to do it and actually work well together during projects or working through problems.  But I fear getting done halfway and realizing we screwed up. And I don't think there is a 90 degree angle in the 95 year old bathroom.

  • Did you know that there is an ice cream maker attachment for KitchenAid stand mixers?  I kind of want it.

Hmm overall, I'd say a 3 (with 10 being the most difficult).  The hardest part by far is cutting the tiles.  (I think that is just because I am intimidated by saws!  Hehe.)

Just make sure the floor is really flat and sturdy, and make sure you seal the grout really well and you'll be fine.

And for the last line, that really sucks.  Trust me, I know.  :)  You should see the walls I was working with in the rental.  Not straight at all!  Crazy.  The first two rows were the hardest when putting down the laminate.  Thankfully the bathroom was square enough.

  • Hmmm - I think we are going to go for it.  Probably not until summer. I know it will take me forever to pick something out and i am sure we will end up painting the walls a different color as well.

  • WTG on the DIY D&M. . . . OMG TTYL FYI.  I just wanted to see what other abbreviations I could throw in there.

I got to babysit my nephew on my side on Saturday and meet my 2 new nephews on Andy's side yesterday.  Jackson is now 15 months old and more adorable than ever.  He helps feed the dog and he loves to bring you something, smile, run away giggling to grab something else and repeats the process.  We would throw the things he would give us back on the ground and he'd go giggling off to retrieve it.  I guess we were kind of playing fetch with him, but he seemed to enjoy it. :-)

Put it in boiling water for just a minute - the color turns bright green, and then put in super cold water to stop it from cooking further.

Not sure why, but you're supposed to do that to most veggies before freezing.

  • I got a lot done in the girls bedroom this weekend. I got the majority of all the boxes out. I have a dresser now for them - a friend of mine is moving and had go get rid of it. It looks really nice in there. I have moving boxes for her still in there. I need to get the girls stuff out of the closet and the few boxes and put them away in the drawers. Then I can use the closet space and that area to put the boxes of stuff that I need to go through in there. I am proud of myself :)

  • Deeder do you have a car that runs now? Do you have car rental? I hope that you had a good experience with the claims dept and that you got a fair value paid to you on the car.

Saw it, kind of want it too. I'm just not such if I would really use it enough to pay for it. I have the veggie attachment but only because I got it half off.

  • I really need a nap.

Right now Ry's Car (the G20) isn't running. We were waiting for a gear stack for the transmission. Now that my car is totaled we will pull the whole engine out and put that into the G20 and get the G20 back on the road. I didn't have car rental added on my policy so we are having to use my parents Mustang right now, which is a V8 and is the best on gas milage for how much we drive.

I've never had any problems with State Farm. Love them! We worked out the details for what the car was worth and got a good price after everything. I was able to pay off the loan and still get $ with keeping the car.
