Let's talk about what we can't wait to do this summer.
Me:
Buy Gymboree bubbles and introduce them to Abe (I hadn't thought of this yet!)
Go to Popham Beach. A lot.
Go to Damariscotta Beach. A lot.
Pick berries in our back yard.
Watch the flowers and garden grow.
Go for walks in the BOB.
Have picnics. A lot.
Put Abe in a floaty at camp.
Take Abe to Boothbay Harbor for my birthday.
Re: Summer
Can't wait...
>For DH to redo the patio now that he has this grand plan of how to do it
>Spend the 4th of July in Bah Habah (it's our tradition), but this time with friends and the motorcycles
>Hike a ton of big mountains with Digby. My goal is to get the six peaks I need to hike in VT done this summer with my cousin-in-law and her baby and then I might shoot for the four I have left in Maine.
>Taking a TON of photos (those of you who know my summer job will say "DUH" to that).
Oh, and being officially done with 5 years of teaching. Woot!
Don't forget: introduce Abe to swings at the playground.
I love this post...I keep thinking about warm weather, too. I've been eyeing up my Gymboree bubbles and wanting a day to be outside running around in the grass and blowing bubbles. (Looks like maybe this Friday we'll get a teaser?)
Great Post!!
Can't wait to..
go up to camp...
eat dinner on the deck every night....
go to the playground....
buy a swingset for Peter & the daycare kids....
spend a relaxing Sunday at my Mom's on the lake...
our family vacation in August...
enjoy summer!!!
I love this post! I cannot WAIT for warmer weather - so tired of being cold!
So, M and I are totally ridiculous (and by ridiculous I mean awesome) and have a list of things we want to do this year, and lots of them are summery. Some of these are from that list and some are just mine.
- Put up my hammock in the side yard
- Hike Mt. Katahdin
- Go to Weld/Lake Webb/Tumbledown (we both grew up camping up there across the lake from each other and never knew it, haha, like I said ... we are ridiculous!)
- Have a lobster bake - I have never eaten a lobster before!!
- Go to the beach as often as possible
- Go to Acadia
- Go out to M's parents' camp
- have an awesome 4th of july weekend
YES YES YES! We don't have a deck but we have a picnic table and a nice back yard!
I'm sorry. WHAT?!?!
I'm going to be as big as a house... so:
- sit in the lake all weekend
- eat frozen yogurt every night
- watch my cankles swell
Brianne- when is your Birthday??? I know a certain to-be Momma and Daddy that will be in BBH for the majority of the summer and would love to play!
Other than the obvious big one (ahem, give birth to our first child around July 17th!), I am over the moon that we'll both be in Maine for July & August and not working for probably the only time in our lives!
-Travel Downeast to visit family & research our roots
-Get the babe out on the water
-4th of July community lobster bake
-My first post-birth glass of wine on the porch in the rocking chair
-LOTS of family time
-Grilling out
-Being a bridesmaid in my friend's beautiful wedding
-Nature trail walks with DH and the babe
-Spending every waking hour staring at my beautiful new child and being in awe that we "made that".

I was thinking the same thing! Though I hate lobster so I get the "You are from Maine and you hate lobster???" thing all the time.
I know! It's crazy! Every summer that I worked in Freeport people would ask where to go for a lobster and I was always referring them to my co-workers because I had never eaten one.
My parents are pretty religious, and their church has certain dietary guidelines that prohibit shellfish and pork and probably some other meats. They eat chicken, beef and some fish though.
I personally am not religious at all but the habits are so ingrained! A couple years ago I tried bacon, ummm what a delicious discovery! And this summer it's time to eat a lobster.
I'm drooling just thinking about summer....
LOTS and LOTS of time at camp! So excited to get Nolan in the water this summer!
BBQ's - we also have a picnic table in the backyard
Pushing in Nolan in the swing
Many walks on the river when the tide goes out
Hopefully watching our new house go up!
Running with the jogging stroller and taking off more of this darn baby weight!
Maybe Nolan will be walking by then?? Watch out world!
Lots of family time - lucky to both be teachers and have the summers off as a family
Trips to my mom's in RI and taking Nolan to the beach
Finding as many uses as I can for the blackberries that grow alongside our road
Summer-time drinks
Glad I'm not the only one. I usually get " You're from a family of lobstermen and you don't like lobster!?!" lol!!!
We are hoping to do stuff this summer that we may not get to as much next summer(we are going on the fact that by next summer I'd either be KU or have one already
)
My top two are:
Lots of hikes/adventures with Copper.
Hopefully a bunch of day trips on the motorcycle/potentially go to Laconia, but it always rains.
But I am really just excited to hang out at our house because the village we live in has so much going on in the summer(though that also means it's crowded so it's a give and take)
Eating dinner on the deck is definitely something I can't wait for as well.
As well as just sitting out on the deck having a beer looking at the lake(across the street)...that may be my favorite thing to do.
This a great post, I just can't wait for summer!!!
YES! There is a DQ a few miles from my Dad's house, and I will definitely be partaking in frozen treats a lot! Hello Crunch Cone!

Lots of picnics, walks and hikes with MH.
Eat sun-kissed strawberries and blueberries.
Go to Boston to see all my Boston friends' new babies (every single friend is having a baby from last December through June)!!!
Go to NH to see my sister's new house!
Hopefully make a quick trip to Boothbay Harbor to stay in my aunt's new house and drink wine on her gazebo while looking out over the water (Mollie - you better bring that baby by!).
Go kayaking.
Maybe remodel my kitchen.
I can't wait for
spending days at Kettle Cove and Crescent Beach
my birthday
cookouts and family parties
wake boarding at the cove with my brothers
visiting DH's army buddies in New York
camping on Richmond Island
strawberry picking at Maxwell's
heading down to CT to spend time with my big brother and his family
Mystic Aquarium
reading in the hammock with the girls
volley ball and badminton
Ohhh this is so exciting!!!
Bring on summer -it's my favorite time of year.
-Celebrating my boys 1st birthday with close family and friends.
-Lots of BBQ's
-Going camping with friends and bringing the boys with us.
-Going to Bayview Beach
-Long walks with the boys.
-Hopefully seeing them take their first steps.
-Vacation from work!
I'm excited for Spring and Summer!
Taking Marcus and Henry for walks and to the playground after work.
Gardening! Maybe this will be the year I finally get through my perennial garden. I'd also like to transplant some things to the backyard.
Enjoying our fenced in backyard; reading, hammocking, knowing that Marcus and the dog are safely enclosed.
Swimming at our swimming hole and going to Reid State Park
Spending a week with my extended family on Long Lake
Taking Marcus out for ice cream
I am so ready for summer! Driving home from work in sunlight has been pretty exciting too!
I can't wait to:
- plant my first garden and start composting & eat it all
- go strawberry & blueberry picking and get enough to freeze for winter smoothies
- go camping with the family & spend time at DH's family camp/kayaking
- celebrate my bff's son's 1st birthday at the lake
- spending a few days in Cape Cod (not sure when but we have hotel points to use)
You provide the gazebo and wine, I'll provide the baby!
Definitely be sure to keep me posted when you're in town, it'd be great to get together again!

I forgot to make my list when I commented!
- RIDE A ROLLERCOASTER! Somehow I missed doing this in Summer '09, was knocked up in Summer '10, so I haven't been on a roller coaster in almost 3 years. I want to ride!!

- Take the kids for the first camping trip
- Lots of walks and playground visits with my babies
- Sprinkler park with Owen

MM -I love rollercoasters and haven't been on one since I moved up here
Can't wait to go back home and ride a bunch!
I am so excited for this Summer! Last summer was too hot for Caroline to do anything and DH was building. Summer before that we were moving and under construction and I got pregnant so it's been a while since Summer fun!
- start working on landscaping for the house and build back deck
- eat lots of meals on that back deck!
- can't wait for grilling!
- taking Caroline swimming, putting up her swing, going to the beach, driving up to Harris Farm and looking at the cows while we get some milk for her.
- Camp and Sebago.
- End of Summer I'm going back home to SC with Caroline, haven't been back in 6 years!
- Weddings, I get to dance with my little girl
and so does DH! We talked about this at the last wedding 2 yrs ago and that's when we knew we were ready!
- Having my DH back! He'll be busy somewhat, but we can finally do family things, including the pups. Walks on the beach, trails etc.
-Ice Cream at Big Daddy's!!! Caroline loves it hehe
- oh so many things. I just can't wait to have Caroline outside. She's at such a great age to start exploring
I can't wait to...
Push Ridley on her swing
Break out the frozen drink machine
Spend days on my sister's boat on Sebago Lake
Eat dinner on the deck
Bake blueberry pies with the blueberries from our bush
Spend another week in beautiful Port Clyde
Head to NJ to see one of my best friends tie the knot
Go for walks after dinner
Teach Ridley to pedal her trike
Swim in my sister's pool with Ridley and Trouble
Play soccer with Trouble
Excellent! You know I'll keep you posted. If your mom is still on Juniper Point this summer, we'll pretty much be down the road from each other. My aunt's house will be a couple of houses past the intersection of 27 & Lakeside Drive.
My family did this most years. Good memories. :-)
Oh, and if you want, I can put you and the kids on my Boston summer '11 baby tour.
