I hope everyone go the there places safely this AM. Anybody caught in the accident here in town on the HWY? Looked like a nice little mess.
I'm up super early b/c my mind decided that my body is wrong and doesn't need more sleep 4 hours today. It may also have something to do with the 3 fun size skittle packs I had before going to bed last night too. oopppss
Re: Hump Day Randoms
Yikes. I'm glad I don't have to do any highway driving day to day.
MIL Story:
My MIL told my husband that she doesn't believe that smoking causes cancer or other health problems. "People all over the world smoke. If smoking killed you, then people all over the world would be dead."
I honestly didn't know that there were people in America who haven't gotten the message that smoking is dangerous to your health.
Kasa: MIL - Um yeah, what?? Really, I mean really. How does one respond to that?
I too am sadden to hear about Elizabeth Taylor. 79 years old. What a life she had though.
Wow. Just wow.
Andy's Dad smokes (among other unhealthy habits) and it bothers me. I want our future babies to know their granddaddy and I have no idea if that will happen with his current lifestyle. I don't feel it's my place to put pressure on him to quit smoking, but I've tried to nudge Andy to talk to him about it. I know quitting isn't easy but it would be nice if he made an attempt or at least tried to cut back.
GVSU - I hope your H gets there safely. Slow and steady and I'm sure he'll be just fine.
Also, I don't know anything about Elizabeth Taylor. Except she married a lot of men and did perfume commercials and was rich.
Is she into conspiracy theories?
Ugh - I hate when things like this come up with my In-laws. I generally just listen and don't respond. Once Henry gets older and can understand, we are going to have to approach it differently.
Another story of ignoring the facts and safety recommendations.
A six year old boy was ejected from a car and killed in an accident near White Hall area. He wasn't buckled in. He should have been in a booster seat. His one month old brother was ejected from the car too and has head injuries. My guess the car seat wasn't properly restrained.
A 7 week old baby was placed in the crib on his tummy with a soft pillow and died this weekend in Byron Center.
Me too.
No, not necessarily. She generally just believes in what is convenient for her and her lifestyle. She really lives in her own little world. It's maddening.
She has a terribly unhealthy lifestyle. Smoking, zero exercise, the worst eating habits ever. And then when she has health problems (diabetes, kidney stones, etc.) she refuses to connect the dots and wails about how "unlucky" she is that she gets sick. My husband and I have both tried repeatedly to talk to her about this and get to to make connection and perhaps make some lifestyle changes, but to no avail.
That sounds delicious.
I hadn't heard about the car seat story. So sad.
Mike read me the story about the baby suffocating and it made me cry. It is gut wrenching to me. Oh the guilt the parents must feel. What an utterly heart breaking story all around.
Thank goodness today is Wednesday - this week has been dragging.
So for today I brought some stuff for snack in the afternoon and stuff for lunch. I already ate my chips and cheese this morning. Oh well. LOL
Wow, those are terrible stories! How heartbreaking.
On a side note, I just adjusted the straps to the higher setting on our Graco infant carrier carseat, and I've been a little nervous ever since. I triple checked them, but you know the worry that goes with being a mom. . .
Please don't ever stop sharing stories about this woman.
I had cake cravings in my second trimester too. It was weird b/c I was never a cake person either. I also craved Dr. Pepper - something I'd never been a regular consumer of as well. They both kind of stuck after the pregnancy too. Doh!
Okay. I was afraid that you all were tiring of them, so I haven't posted much lately.
Weird, what is it with Dr. Pepper? One of my friends said that the only real craving that she had while pregnant was for Dr. Pepper. She couldn't ever get enough Dr. Pepper.
No, not tired. I'd say they are pretty entertaining. Or interesting? I'm trying to think of a polite way to say it. hehe.
Do you have kids of your own? I have two step daughters and this just gut wrenches me.
I never felt like I couldn't get enough of it, but I enjoyed drinking them more than just on the rare occassion. That's funny that it happened to someone else too though about that craving!
I'm not a big cake person but I wanted cupcakes all the time with Allison. Our chef had boxes of cake mix or frosting in the dry pantry and it had pictures of really pretty cupcakes on it. I wanted pretty cupcakes every time I walked back to the kitchen.
Weird. I craved pop and cake during pregnancy too, and both were something I NEVER consumed while not pregnant. Ha!
KerCo, if you are like me, they will fade away. I liked sweets and pop for a while after I had T, but now don't care for them at all.
Horrible.
T has a cough, runny nose, and as of this morning a fever. Ugh. This winter can suck it. I am so over having a sick child.
And I know this is horrible, but I gave him a little bit of ibuprofen and took him to daycare around 10:00. He was running around the house playing and having fun and was happy, so I figured he would be ok. Even though I feel horrible about it. I hate missing work but I hate bringing him to daycare when he is sick.
It's days like today I wish I was a SAHM.
