Re: Friday Randoms

  • Thank God!

We bought a patio set at Meijer yesterday - so excited to be able to eat on our deck this year :)

  • I'm taking my friend's 4 year old daughter to the butterflies are blooming tomorrow - it should be fun! She LOVES bugs and is so excited to get to go away with "aunt windywindy." It's the first time I've taken her somewhere on my own so here's hoping I don't mess up! I know nothing about kids, so I'll probably be one of those super protective people LOL. I freak out when OTHER people let their kids run around in parking lots, for example. And what about food allergies? Can I let her walk around with a snack or does she have to sit down?

Have fun! We're going on Tuesday. I always make DS hold still when he has a snack, first for safety, but also for easy clean up. Kids drop things. I'd rather see where all the Goldfish crackers are and pick them up when he's done than have him strew them around a public place and get crunched everywhere. I've never planned our snacks around other peoples' food allergies unless I know for sure that he was going to be around someone allergic.

Big Smile Relax, you will do fine. Plus you are Aunt windywindy, so you let her get away with a bit more.  Although, you will want to appear in the begining that you are in charge and she needs to follow the same rules at home.

    Some tips

Go early if possible and dress in layers. It gets HOT in there.

Ask her if mom if they go there a lot to playoutdoors. You may want to explain to her that since it is so cold outside, you won't be going outside. Or bring warm clothes and tell her will go out for 20 minutes or however long. There are some activities one of the buildings in the children's garden.

Explain the rules to her before you go in - keep them few and simple.  She must stay by you at all times, listen to you, and mind her manners. Normally I tell the girls to use their indoor voices.  If she doesn't listen then she will have to sit down until she is ready to listen.

Give her notice in advance when you are about to end on activity so she is prepared.

For snack time, bring her downstairs. There are tables and chairs down there and she can look at the turtle tank.

    Have fun!

  • You should've heard the debate we had going on here at the office re: having a router in your house and wireless, etc. **smacks bosses head **

  • Wendy, you're both going to have a great time!

I had the pleasure of viewing the Friday youtube video this week.  It looks like a tampon commercial to me.

  • Why is this morning moving so slowly?!  Good gravy.

  • Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! Great tips.
  • I'm on hold with Sprint to see if I can get out of my contract due to poor service for the last 3 1/2 months. Anybody else have sprint and been having issues. The have several towers down in the SW MI area. They already offered me a $35 credit.

I don't have Sprint by I saw a story about this problem on the local news recently.

  • Yeah, I've been having issues since Dec. Not sure how this will turn out. 1 department offered $35, the next says they can only offer $25. I'm back on hold for a manager. I really would like to be let out of my contract and switch and start to use DH's 3GS iPhone since we just upgraded to the 4 and the 3GS is only about 7 months old.
  • Wendy, when I took the kids we put a flower clip in Willa's hair.  She was absolutely certain that it would draw the butterflies to her.  It was pretty funny to watch her do her Snow White impression in the conservatory.  If you have access to real or fake flowers, you might do the same.  They're the same age.

You can't do real flower due to USDA regulations.  However bright color clothing might help, along with scented, so maybe some scented lotion. Also, standing still helps, hence why no butterfly will ever land on my children.

My sister and my friend were both able to get out of their contracts with no penalty because of the issues they have been having since December.

    Good luck!

Well they wouldn't let me out b/c the issue is suppose to be fixed today. They did credit me $50 (a month free for me). I think I'm still going to cancel tomorrow. with the $50 credit I'll only end up paying $20 to get out of the contract instead of $70. They did say if the issues doesn't get fix and I still have problems then I could get out of the contract, but I'm not sure I want to wait and see? Thoughts?

  • I had no idea how many kids Mike Tyson had. 6 kids plus 1 stepdaughter.

I would definitely call tomorrow and see if you can get out of your contract.  Why keep business with a bad company with bad service?

Makes sense.  One of the volunteers there was telling me about when she brought her grandaughter and they used a real flower.  Those wacky volunteers... ;)

Gasp!!! That is one rebel of a volunteer. I guess techinally you could bring one in, you just couldn't take it out. Although you would have to smuggle it in and probably get yelled at.  Ha ha!
