Okay since I am bored, I thought I'd try to make an interesting thread....I'll try to think of 10 things you might not know about me.
1. DH was my first and only boyfriend except for a 2 week period when I dated another guy while we were broken up (G came crawling back after a month though!).
2. I have scoliosis. It's very slight, but you can tell if you look closely at my hips. I always look crooked in pictures.
3. I'm always paranoid about bad things happening to my family. I'll worry all day long about things. Like if my little (27 yr old) brother is out and I know he might drink...I'll worry that he will drive home. Things like that. I can't stand that about myself.
4. I used to hate saying my hubby's name. I just feel like I say it so ugly. I can't roll my R's and when his family says it, it sounds so pretty! Needless to say, he'd like to have a Guillermo Jr someday and I say, "HELL NO!"
5. I was always shy. People would sometimes think I was snobby, but I was just quiet.
6. I've decided that I no longer like white wine.Exception: Great White from Newport Vineyards.
7. I suck at directions. I never have any clue where I am. Maps confuse me and don't ask me which direction (NSEW) things are. My brain just doesn't work that way.
8. The smell of Tuna Fish turns my stomach. I can't ever eat it. My job growing up was to feed the cats their canned food so I could never understand why humans would want to eat fish out of a can like cats do ![]()
9. My baby sleeps in my bed.
10. I brush my teeth twice every morning. Once right when I wake up and again before I leave the house (or if I'm not leaving, after I get dressed).
Okay, now it's your turn!!! Go..........
Re: 10 things you might not know about me
1. I changed my major in college 3 times...leading to an extra Sr. year
2. My first language was Portuguese not English. I went into K only speaking Portuguese. Mr. Roger's taught me everything I know.
3. Of my 3 majors in college, not ONE of them had anything to do with computers/graphic design
4. I've been laid off twice since I've graduated college. First time for about 6 months, and then next time for almost 2 years!! (FML)
5. I have a giant extended family (like 32 first cousins!)
6. I paint my nails twice a week. Sunday night and Wednesday night. It's my relax time.
7. I never cooked or baked until I got married. I was actually VERY nervous i couldn't do either, now it's my favorite thing to do when i'm bored.
8. I will not touch raw chicken. it's grosses me out. Paul laughs at me but i use a fork to do everything i need to do. Beef or pork, no problem...chicken VOMIT.
9. I really hate red wine. Unless it's super fruity, then i lurve it.
10. I'm obsessed with gadgets. We have something to do whatever it is you're looking to do at my place. My cousin laughs and tells me all the time i should write reviews cause i know about all the new products and have tried them before she even knows about most of them.
I'll come out of lurkerville and play...
1. I have jumped out of an airplane
2. My husband proposed to me in Rome in front of the Trevi Fountain
3. I have a mouth like a trucker...it's ugly
4. I hate cooking. I feel like there are so many other things I could be doing that I won't cook something if it takes longer than 30 minutes
5. I have 17 first cousins
6. I like watching TV shows about serial killers and raunchy firefighters
7. Before I moved to RI from MA I wouldn't drive through Providence because I was scared of the "S" curves.
8. I am adopted. I was raised by my bio mom and step dad and my step dad adopted me 15 years ago.
9. When I was little I would dance around my mothers kitchen in my socks and pretend I was a figure skater.
10. I thought up 7 more thing tonight than I thought I would be able to!
ok! here goes!
1. I always knew that I would marry DH one day. Like, when I was 16 years old. And then when we broke up through college, I still always knew that I would marry him
2. DH is 2 years younger than me. Most people think that it's the other way around. When we were younger (18 & 16) and went out for dinner, a waitress offered him the beers on tap and told me what they served for soda. nice...
3. I really do want another baby, but I'm deathly scared after my pregnancy with JJ
4. I would love to get back into the food & beverage scene (weddings & banquets)
5. When I get really frustrated in life, I talk to my mom (my mom's picture). Out loud. Anyone walking by my house may think I'm talking to myself, but it's the only way to get my frustrations out. Ok, now you think I'm crazy.
6. I have to wash, blow dry and style my hair EVERY DAY! It sucks! After one day it gets too oily and gross to restyle for another day. And it's too short to pull back.
7. I love octopus!
8. Portuguese was my first language.
9. I shared a bed with my sister for 5 years.
10. My grandparents are from the same village that DH's grandparents are from. So many people teased us that we may be related that I consulted as many relatives as possible to make sure it wasn't true. We're still called "Kissing Cousins"
1. My name rhymed with my address when I was growing up. One of my cousins still teases me about it.
2. I had 2 imaginary friends growing up - Little Melissa and Little Rebekah. The same cousin as above still teases me about it.
3. My dad and his brothers, all my cousins on that side of the family and I have the same chin. We call it "The Family Chin" and when I was pregnant with Benjamin I said that I hoped he had the chin. After he was born, while he was getting cleaned up and I was getting fixed up, DH was checking him out and he came back over to tell me that he had the chin. My response, "YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS"
4. I have 3 really close male friends that I chat with on gchat all day every day while at work.
5. I am addicted to Twitter.
6. I won my fantasy baseball league 2 seasons in a row, and am the only female in the league.
7. I am terrified of anything regarding satan, satan worship, being possessed, exorcism, etc. Absolutely, 100% terrified. Like, to the point that if I am purchasing something, and it comes out to triple 6, I will add a pack of gum or something so I don't pay that amount.
8. My favorite book is Rebecca. I had to read it as summer reading when I was entering the 7th grade. It took me almost 2 months to read the first few chapters, and about 2 days to read the rest of the book. It all turns around when they get to Manderley.
9. I was a cheerleader in high school.
10. I haven't baked for real (meaning from scratch) in months, and I really, really miss it.
Hmmmm...lets see if I can think of 10 things.
1. I have no idea what I want to do when I grow up( yup almost 30 and still no clue). Some days I want to go back to school but have no idea what to go back for.
2. I met DH when I was 16. We both worked at Walmart and didn't talk for 6 years before we started dating.
3. When I was younger, I wanted a bunch of kids. Then when I got pregnant, I thought I may be one and done. Now that I'm a mom, I definitely want a few more.
4. Like Sacey, I too was also very shy. Didn't come out of my shell till college.
5. My DH introduced me to sushi and I actually like it.
6. I have a German Shepherd. She is a big sweetie but I really want a smaller dog.
7. I work for my mom. Fortunately, she was able to give me a great schedule so that I can sty home with my little guy and work nights while he is home with DH.
8. We had to redo all the floors in our house due to the flood. We were going to refinish the hardwoods anyway but now we have brand new ones.
9. I have a serious Teen Mom addiction. The show drives me crazy with everything that happens but i can't stop watching it.
10. I have a serious fear of bugs, especially spiders. Thank goodness DH doesn't mind them. I could never live alone.
Oh gosh! I'll play...I hope I can come up with 10 things...
1. I met my husband on a night I was going to my friends house to see another guy I liked. The rest is history!
2. My sister and I have a 9 year age difference.
3. I have the same adoption situation as the pp. My mom remarried when I was 6 and my dad adopted me when I was 7.
4. While I do know my biological father I have never considered him my dad.
5. My girls are the 5th generation to live in our house.
6. My husband is the only man I have ever slept with.
7. I would love to have another baby but do not really want to be pregnant again. (I do not think we will actually have another baby.)
8. I can't decide how I feel about that.
9. I have still not returned to work from my seasonal winter lay-off...and I desperately do not want to.
10. I have an incredibly irrational fear of throwing up.
fun! and maybe i'll use some of these as my first blog post.
1. ditto sarah x 100 on the smell of tuna. just thinking about canned tuna makes me gag a little
2. i've never really considered a getting a tattoo but i had my eyebrow pierced for a few years during/after college
3. my maternal grandmother's mother was an actress in silent films
4. i don't like a lot of my mom's cooking. it's part of why i learned to cook.
5. i was the first person in my family to graduate from college. i am very proud that one of my cousins will join the club in may.
6. i would love to live abroad again
7. i have been eating "cleaner" over the past few years but i will always love me some cheez-its and oreos every once in awhile. organic versions just don't cut it!
8. i fuckinglove having a washer & dryer IN our apartment. after a decade of laundromats, that still feels like a huge luxury.
9. until i have a boss/work environment that is good, i will continue to be terrified of having another k-town/tf situation.
10. i may have a slight addiction to sephora.com
1. I did gymnastics for 12 years, starting at the age of 2. The owners bartered with my mom (she did some drawings for them, and we got my first lessons at OSSG). A small fortune later, I quit before going into high school. My HS didn't have a team, and I thought I'd give other sports a try. Part of me wishes I had kept up with the gymnastics, and possibly competed as an independent, or kept competing for my gym.
2. I sing. No, I mean, I sing all the time! Little mundane things throughout my day (like trying to get Shannon to do something after asking her for the umpteenth time) get sung. If I'm reading something and I need to remember it later, I sing it in my head. I've used melodies for years to memorize lists or teach an illusive concept to others (FYI: The Preamble of the Constitution fits nicely into the "Song That Never Ends.")
3. Speaking of singing... I can sing with my mouth closed. I'm not a ventriloquist though. My stupid human trick is different. I puff up my cheeks and SHOUT it... Sounds kind of like I have a little kid stuck in my mouth who is singing the song. The voice that comes out sounds nothing like my own. One of the clearest songs that I can sing this way is "How Much Is That Doggy In The Window?"
4. My father passed away when I was one month shy of 11, on Mother's Day in 1991. We have a memorial mass scheduled for May 14th this year, the day after my dad's anniversary. My mother feels awful about it, since it is Kyle's birthday. But, we've had the 20th anniversary mass scheduled for a few years now, so that's where we'll be on that day. Bitter sweet.
5. I went to grad school in DC. My first semester there, I was assaulted outside the Metro near the campus. It was during the Beltway Sniper Attacks, so I was hyper-vigilant, and knew that the two guys who were passing me as I walked were going to attack me. One was the attacker, the other a lookout. I started screaming, and the guy who grabbed my neck told me to be quiet or he would kill me. I figured that if he were going to kill me, he'd do it regardless, so I switched from screaming "Help!" to screaming "Fire!" and a kid came up out of the Metro and my assailants took off. I was able to give a good physical description of both men, and the detective believed they caught my attackers a few days later, but I was never brought in to ID them.
6. I was given the nickname "George" when I was in grade school. The nickname resurfaced years later when I was a camp counselor/lifeguard. I always kind of liked that NN, since it was my dad's first name (although the people who called me that didn't know). Nobody calls me that now, and that is just fine with me!
7. I once broke up a physical fight between two girls by running down a hill to try and stop them. It had rained, and I slipped on the wet grass... all the way down and landed on the ground between the two girls at their feet. I grabbed their ankles and looked up at them sternly telling them to knock it off. They both started laughing and forgot about their fight right there. I was covered in mud and grass stains on my whole backside (heels all the way up and through my hair), and ended up missing lunch because I went to take a shower.
8. My hair was down to my knees when I was a kid. Yes, I had over a 3-ft braid!
9. DH thought I was blonde when he first met me. My hair just gets blonde highlights in the sun, though, and I had been lifeguarding outdoors all summer!
10. The year I got married, I lived in 4 different states: MD (while finishing up my 2nd year of grad school), RI (2 weeks before wedding, lived back at home w/ mom), MA (summer), and VA (for last year of grad school). Those are the only 4 states I've ever lived in. And, VA was an optional one, since DH just wanted to be able to say he'd lived in Virginia ... and besides, we were newlyweds, and Virginia is for lovers!
Well hell, I don't know if I can come up with 10 things I haven't already told you peeps. So some of these may be "repeats".
1) I lived in Germany from '94-'97. My ex husband was active duty army and he was assigned there when we were dating. We either had to break up, or get married so I could go with him. Good thing we decided on the marrying thing...I was pregnant with Ty and didn't know it.
2) That being said, Ty was born in Germany!
3) I have an irrational fear of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original). I seriously hyperventilate and cry if I see it on TV.
4) I also have an irrational fear of chick peas. They frighten me. I can't look at them, I can't touch them, and I definitely cannot eat them. BUT, I love hummus. I never said I was normal!
5) Dan and I met in an AOL chatroom. We were making fun of the same person.
6) I have a pretty decent singing voice. In high school I starred in musicals, I was the VP of the chorus, was in every choir we had. I also auditioned for and was accepted to state district choir, and was awarded the National School Choral Award by my school. I'm a high soprano.
7) I've been going to Prudence Island (you know, that little island all of you know about but most have never been to) my whole life. It's my most favorite place on earth. Dan and I got married there. It's my slice of heaven.
8) One of my very good high school friends was shot and killed by her own mother the year after I graduated. She was only a junior. It was a major event in my life and literally changed me.
9) In a previous life I was on the Titanic and died. I KNOW IT!
10) I can walk on the knuckles of my toes. Curl your toes under, and walk on the knuckle...go on, I dare ya. And apparently it's genetic cuz Ty and Mel can do it too!
I'm new, so I'll play. Okay, fine, I need a break from homework.
1. I've been a college student since I was 17. I'll be 30 in two weeks. I don't have a degree, but I do have more than enough credits for one. I simply lack direction in life. It's one of the things I'm most embarrassed about.
2. I am obsessed with horror flicks and believe that the lessons you learn in horror flicks can and should be directly applied to your life. For instance, do not hide in closets. If someone is after you, and you're running, they can still catch up to you, even if they're walking. When a killer is on the loose, only virginity can save you.
3. I crave friendships and personal interaction, but I'm incredibly self-conscious and it usually results in me not pursuing those things. Probably also why I primarily lurk on message boards. I'm such a pansy.
4. I fancy myself a chef, but have only learned to cook in the past five years. Prior to that, I lived on fast food and boxed dinners. Stark contrast to my "cook from scratch" lifestyle now.
5. I prefer fall and winter to summer and spring.
6. I can find merit in most music that is sung by someone who was not previously employed by the Disney Channel.
7. Neither of my daughters look like me, even though they both are biologically. Not a bit like me. Which, is fortunate. They're cute
8. I spent $1083 last quarter at CVS and am counting down the days until Friday when the Extra Care Bucks reward thingies print out of the register because I totally think I deserve a big fat one.
9. I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety while still in elementary school and lost a lot of my life to being overmedicated by overzealous doctors and parents, so I'm like a 12 year old in a lot of ways.
10. I have pretty warped side interests like ghosts, haunted houses, the occult, things like that. I've been into the "dark side" since I was very very young.
This may be hard
1. I take my lipstick everywhere I go and I always have on that and eyeliner.
2. I also am not a fan of wine
3. I don't drink coffee
4. My nickname from high school is Gitch "Ginny B!tch"
5. I went to 3 collages
6. I am ambidextrous
7. I despise when people spell my name wrong and I will correct them.
8. I am not a good sleeper
9. I am not a morning person
10. I worry about EVERYTHING
Ok now THIS is a fun post! I have really enjoyed reading all the responses :-) Some I knew and some I didn't. Pamcakes I love that you and Dan met in a chat room making fun of the same person! I lol'd on that one!
1. I didn't start really getting into nutrition until I got asked to teach a sports nutrition class. Couple that with getting pg with Christian and my thirst for all things nutrition exploded!
2. I also fear spiders. I told Brent it was in our prenup that he has to kill them all.
3. I love my job. I actually love what I do for a living. I teach wellness in a middle school. I get to teach what I am passionate about and be with kids all day. Oh and did I mention holidays and summers off?
4. When I go home to visit with my HS friends (RI), it takes about 1 minute for my RI accent to resurface!
5. This past summer taught me that I am exactly like my mom. We keep busy to avoid facing difficult situations. I realized that one of the reasons why I am running the Boston marathon is because it keeps me busy and focused on something positive. The second I run alone and think of my dad & what we went through I break down. I avoid...just like my mom.
6. I believe in love at first sight. That's how I felt when I met Brent. I knew he was the one and I was in trouble when he asked to join me for lunch at our first job post college back in 1999.
7. My daughter is the spitting-image of me. So much that my dad actually cried when she was born b/c it was like seeing me be born again. I treasure that memory.
8. I really would love to have a 3rd baby and secretly am jealous of pg women now. But we can't afford it and really I don't want to get fat again. I know terrible.....but I've worked SO hard to lose all the weight that there is no way I want to start over.
9. I've been trying to get my side business, Riddle Wellness Solutions, off the ground for a few years now. Basically I just don't have time to really devote to it so I end up doing most of it for free here and there.
10. My sex drive is in the toilet. I have a hard time switching out of mommy mode. I asked my doc. she said I need to do it more! ha ha it does work but it's hard to get started.
I'll play:
1. we live in a condo that I fear will NEVER sell
2. I wish I could be a SAHM
3. I have hearing issues
4. I have had many surgeries
5. I get up every morning at 4am
6. I wish I was more fashionable
7. I have dark circles and I don't know how to get rid of them(or cover them up)
8. I still cry once a week dropping Allie off at daycare or MIL
9. I cannot wait for Allie to be one year so I can be done with pumping....I now HATE pumping
10. I am a control/organizing/cleaning freak and I hate it!! I just cannot help it! LOL
I will try for 10 !
1 - I have flown a 4 passenger Cessna airplane and taken off and landed it with very minimal help several times. If I did not have my daughter I truly believe I would have went to pilot school, still have the text book.
2 ? I call DH my one night stand that never left, we slept together the first night we met (never did that before) and we have been together ever since going on 17 yrs.
3 ? my biggest regret in life is having my tubes tied- I really wish I thought about it A LOT MORE-I am secretly jealous of pregnant women (tough right now 3 of my SILs or due May, June & July.
4 ? I am 110% tom boy love 4 wheeling, fast cars, shooting guns etc? I have been shooting guns since I could walk and I am a better shot them my DH
5- I hate wine, I cannot stand the taste or smell, I have tried but can?t do it.
6- I hate beans?they creep me out and I will NEVER eat them. I try and gag. Green Bean I can do..that is all !
7. I own the house that my grandfather, my dad, myself and my daughter were raised in. Back in the day it was the only houses on the street and we are an even number house on the odd numbered sided of the street?.drives delivery people nuts !!
8- I am mildly claustrophobic ? If DH holds me to tight for a hug I freak out and feel like I cannot breath ( he laughs) , too many people on an elevator I have to get off.
9-I hate shoes and socks, I love to be barefoot - I think it is a Prudence Island thing J
10- I played 1st base on a softball team for 10 yrs, made All Stars 5 yrs of them and the last year that I played my mother made me go to NH with her instead of stay home with my Dad and play (still bitter I guess haha)
HMMM nothing too special but I got 10 !!
I don't know if I can come up with 10 things... let's see.
1. Met Jerred at a Barenaked Ladies concert 12 years ago this summer. We started dating about a month later and just knew we would be together for a long time.
2. I wish one of my kids had brown hair. The German dominance from Jerred's side of the family isn't fair!
3. When I'm sitting or lying down and tired, I cross my toes.
4. I am ready to be done with breastfeeding. I thought I wanted to continue nursing her into her second year but I'm done. I feel guilty about that sometimes but I'm not happy - I need to be me now. And I need to be able to take some #$%^&*( real cold medicine when I'm sick and not panic about it. And better allergy medicine!
5. I'm sick of feeling so negative. All I do is moan and groan. But every time I try to "change my outlook," life b!tch slaps me with something else. I can't find the puppies and rainbows in everything, and not everything has a fvcking silver lining. I wish it were ok to just say "my life fvcking sucks right now people and I can't smile and laugh all day, please just be supportive and stop telling me to think positive and do yoga."
6. Law school was the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life. And the most expensive at over $150K in loans, which doesn't include undergrad.
7. I don't want to be a lawyer anymore. I'd much prefer a job doing something else. These past 2 months have reminded me that I don't actually like this stuff very much, even though I keep pretending I do.
8. I'm double jointed in my hips.
9. I LOVE junk food. I rarely eat it (Oreos, chips, etc.) but if they told me tomorrow I was dying in 6 months, I would live on sh!tty food.
10. I love to cook, bake and take photos. I'm not great at any of them and wish I had more time to enjoy my hobbies, but I do love them all and take pleasure in each of them.
See, most of my list ended up being whiny and negative. Gah. Sorry ladies.

My blog: Dodging Acorns
1. i have never been drunk.
2. i slept with DH on the 1st date.
3. i have a sister i havent talked to in over 10 yrs.
4. my stepson drives me absolutley bonkers.
5. on my W2 i grossed $5,095 for 2010.
6. i have a fear of vomit.
7. i am still friends w/ a handful of ex boyfriends, DH likes them too.
8. i wish i could cook as good as DH.
9. i have a magazine addiction.
10. i worry that i am not a good mom.
I'll give it a try too:
1. My bff and I have been friends for over 24 years. She will always be my bff and I love that I have someone so close who knows everything about me.
2. In 2013 my mom will be gone for 15 years and that will be half of my life. Makes me cry just thinking about it. She died on Friday the 13th and I cringe everytime the calendar shows that.
3. But because of my mom passing when I was 15, my dad and I are super close.
4. My brother is 12 and a half years older than me, and my sister is exactly 7 and a half years older than me. I wasn't an oops though lol.
5. I work for my dad. It is good and bad. Good because at this point with me being pregnant he lets me come and go as I need to. It's bad because before I got pregnant he would get annoyed if I took a day off.
6. DH and I were engaged once before and broke up. We got back together and planned the wedding we eventually had. Everything happens for a reason
7. Between the two of us, DH and I have no living grandparents anymore. Well, that's not true, his grandmother on his dad's side is still alive, but she won't talk to him. Nice, huh? Anyways, his mothers parents died within a year and a half of each other. My dad's mom died of a heart attack suddenly and my mom's mom died right before I got married. My grandpa passed away a year and a half ago.
8. I can honestly say that there isn't much I miss by being pregnant. Not to say I don't have a craving for wine or sushi every once in awhile, but nothing that makes me crazy about it.
9. I am having a hard time with this pregnancy (as I keep having 'obstacles' with it) It makes me wonder if I could/should do this again. Ugh
10. I HATE where I live. With a passion. We built the house before we got married, and the house itself is okay, but I hate the neighborhood and I hate our land. The problem is that we paid too much for it when we bought it, and I don't think I could sell it for anything close to what we need to. Guess I'm stuck here.
1. I can't eat sushi. The texture makes me want to gag. Any raw fish, and I can't do it. I've been to Japan and seen some amazing sushi and sashimi, but I couldn't stand a bite of it.
2. I was a huge band geek in high school. I was captain of the marching band's drum line my senior year. I really miss it, but there's really no way to keep playing the drums solo unless you like the drum set. That was my least favorite... marching band and concert band were always my interests.
3. I've been to Antarctica. I've never been to Europe.
4. DH is 8.5 years older than I am.
5. I've spent 2 months living on boats in the past 5 years. It was 2 separate research cruises while I was studying Oceanography, one as an undergraduate intern and one as a graduate student. 1 month off the coast of Japan and 1 month on an ice breaker between South America and Antarctica, and along a large portion of the Antarctic coastline. I do not desire to do it again, but I wouldn't trade those experiences for the world.
6. I haven't seem my dad since August of 2009, and haven't spoken to him since October when I told him I was pregnant. It makes me a little sad that he cares so little about his kids, but it's what I've grown to expect. (my parents divorced when I was 6)
7. I am also very shy - even on message boards. I am trying to change that, especially since DH is the same way and I don't want our kids to be as uncomfortable in social situations as we are.
8. I'm a total neat freak. Everything has to be clutter free or I go nuts. I hate dusting, so our house is not usually dusted perfectly... but if you ask me where something is, I can tell you exactly where.
9. I also hate spiders, and joke that I got married to have someone to kill them for me.
10. My brother and I are the first to get graduate degrees in our family, his in teaching and mine in oceanography.
1. I always pictured myself as someone who would live in a variety of places all over the world. Living in Providence is a "huge" distance from where DH grew up and I don't think we'll ever really leave Rhode Island. This depresses me.
2. I really wish I could feel confident in sending Cassidy to public school and not spend all of her college savings on private. Still debating this.
3. Being a high school teacher makes me too familiar with what teens are involved in. This freaks me out and is soooooo emotionally draining.
4. I originally went to school for marine biology.
5. I do not want to be a SAHM, I found out quickly that I suck at it.
6. My computer obsession is a real obsession, one that I don't think I can break any time soon. I may need an intervention.
7. My ILs drive me insane.
8. I've been to Tibet.
9. I love, love, love red wine. Like a lot.
10. I would eat ice cream multiple times a day if it wasn't "bad".
This is a fun thing, hopefully I can come up with 10!
1. I was a horrible teenager! I would rather party, than go to school. I am very smart, always got good grades, but think part of me has ADD. I could not sit still in class, be bothered to listen to a teach talk etc. So............(hangs my head) I did not graduate high school. I did obtain my GED when I was 20.
2. That being said, I still have not been to college, and do not have any interest in it. I hate listening to direction, people talking, doing homework etc. I am a very hands on person and learn better by teaching myself. Everything I know about computers, cakes, and life, is self taught! I guess I am still trying to figure out what I want to be "when I grow up"!
3. I met Marcos when I was 15, and have been with him since (with the exception of a year we broke up when I was 17-18). I never thought I would marry him, thought it was a fling type, but boy was I wrong! I love him more than life! And although he is a pain in my ass, I can imagine my life without him!
4. My mom dying was the hardest thing I have ever been through in my life. I did not realize that she was my best friend until she got sick, and I feel horrible about that. I would give anything for her to be here with us. What she wanted more than anything is grandkids. Go figure that the year she died, I was pregnant with Elijah and Krystal had Landen not too far after that.
5. I moved around ALOT as a kid. I went to Kindergarten in 2 states, 1-4 in one school, half of 4th and 5th in another, 6th in 2 schools, 7th in one Jr High, 8th (2 times) in another.
6. I have been dying my hair for so long, I don't really know what color my "real" hair is! I was blonde as a kid, and as it got dark in my teens, I started dying it blonde. Now I "think" it is a mousy brown color!
7. I am the only girl in my family on my mom's side. Here is how the generations went , Gram, Mom, Aunt, Me. There is 22 years between my aunt and me and I am the last girl, including the next generation which includes 3 boys (Elijah, Landen and my cousin's son William). However, my cousins girlfriend is pregnant with a girl (and I am kind of jealous).
8. I never met any of my grandfathers. My dad's dad died right before he was born and my mom's dad died at 42 from a heart attack. My mom was pregnant with my older brother who she lost at birth.
9. My mother and I have some really strange coincidences in life. It kind of creeps me out at times. Here they are. Marcos and my dad are from the same "neighborhood". My mom and dad are 3 years apart in age, and so are Marcos and I. My grandfather hated my dad at first, and my dad hated Marcos at first. My grandfather died while my mom was PG with my brother, my mom died when I was PG w/Elijah. Both my mom's and my first child were boys.
10. I too want another child, but I am so scared we will not be able to afford it. How sad that this economy is stopping people from having the family they want!
Ok, I am late to the party but I really wanted to play along and get some confessions off my chest.
1. I am super excited and super anxious about it but we are going to start trying for a second baby. I am excited to have another little baby but I am anxious about not being able to love it as much as I love my baby boy.
2. I hate coffee but I worked at Dunkin Donuts for 3 years. And no, I hated cofee before I started working there, not after.
3. My 65 year old college professor tried to kiss me. The majority of the class went out to the bar after class on tuesday nights (yes, the prof went too) and he had too much to drink one night and tried to kiss me.
4. I signed off of facebook because I can't stand my in laws. And my husband was completely ok with that.
5. I have at least 1 alcoholic drink a night.
6. I am proud I have been having sex with the same man for almost 13 years and it just keeps getting better every day.
7. I do not get along with my sister who is 3 years younger than me but my sister who is almost 8 years younger than me is one of my best friends.
8. I am also from a large extended family, 30 first cousins on my mom's side, 13 on my dad's side. They range in age from 45 to 6.
9. My first job was a little league baseball umpire. They originally didn't want to give me the job because I was only 14, and a girl. But I told them I had been playing since I was 5 and was more than qualified for the job. They gave me the job and I LOVED it.
10. I do not wear makeup. I will wear it occasionally for a big meeting or for a wedding but I hate it. And my skin hates it too, I can't find a brand that doesn't make me break out or make my eyes itchy.
And yet, I despise being barefoot. HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT. In my own house I wear shoes. On the island, I have to have something on my feet. The thought of stepping on a bug or something sharp skeeves me out. I'm practically the only Prudence girl who always has something on her feet. Drives my family crazy.
Hmmm.. this might be a toughy.
1. Not everyone "gets" my sense of humor. I don't take much seriously. Some chalk it up to me being a moron or a ***... and I'm ok with that. I'm shy and sometimes have a difficult time starting a convo.
2. I met DH in an AOL chat room. He lived 5 minute WALKING distance from me. I had never seen him before. I was having a rough day, told him if he brought me an ice cream cone he could meet me outside my house... he did.
3. I can't watch Nancy Grace anymore. I have this fear of my children getting kidnapped, murdered or abused.. Thanks Nancy.
4. I couldn't stand my BFF when I first met her. She makes AWFUL first impressions. Ever since she had her son she's a new person. I like to think I am her voice of reason for that.
5. I refuse to cook pork. I had a pig collection (not real ones people) growing up, and since then I don't eat it. DH loves pork. He has to buy it and cook it himself.
6. I always wanted to be a nurse. I work in the Mortgage Industry... couldn't get any different. I love what I do, and work for a FANTASTIC company. There are changes coming April 1st to the Mtg world... I'm hoping a lot of licensed Loan Officers are going to jump ship and come here.
7. I write & eat left handed. Everthing else is right handed.. including playing softball.
8. I am an Identical Mirror Twin. I am left handed, shes right handed. I have a freckle on my left eye, she has it on the right. I work with my sis as well. Good thing we get along!
9. My sis went through 3 IVF treatments in order to get pregnant with her 1st daughter. Our daughters are 6 weeks apart. All along I was telling her she was just waiting for me (I was getting married). Things happen for a reason.
10. Ever since my grandmother died I always get hawks that fly in front of my windshield. Before I found out I was pregnant w/ Alaina there were 2 hawks that flew right across my windshield. I didn't know what it meant. I believe it meant that there were going to be 2 babies (Alaina & my niece). Before I found out I was pregnant w/ Ben one Hawk flew in front of my windshield. Anyway, I always say "hi re-re" whenever I see one sitting on a lamp post or flying.
You ladies are FASCINATING!!!! I'm not - read and you'll see:
1. Irrational fear of spiders doesn't even begin to cover me. It's CRAZY. If I see a spider I HAVE to watch it, I HAVE to know where it is at all times. That includes AWFUL things like movies with spiders (yes, I've been crazy-psycho forced to watch Arachnophobia). But yet, when Peter started exhibiting signs of being afraid of spiders I sat down and read him Charlotte's Web so that he would see how "awesome" and "cool" spiders are, and then proceeded to have nightmares for a week.
2. I dated two of DH's roommates in college and both of those guys were 2 of the 3 of his fraternity brothers that I dated.
3. I've been BFFs with my BF since I was 2.
4. I was in a t.v. show when I was in sixth grade. Nothing famous, don't get excited. It was a local t.v. show in Boston called "A Likely Story" and my mother called channel 5 to get the tape of it and showed it at my bridal shower. HORROR.
5. I started wearing glasses when I was 5. My mother said that she didn't want to have to buy me a new pair each time I grew, so she bought me one pair that lasted from the time I was 5 til when I got contacts in middle school. They were HUGE then and guess what? They're STILL HUGE. Seriously, I look like an old woman if I put them on. AND the best part? They're red. Sally Jesse Raphael red. Awesome. I rule.
6. I used to ride on my skateboard and have my dog pull me on his leash. So fun!
7. My mom's memory is going. It scares me. It's really going. It's really bad. And I know I'm headed down that road. My grandmother had dementia and my mom is going that way too.
8. I'm super-protective of my mom and her lack-of-memory, so I've told DH that if he EVER gives me sh!t about my bad memory that I'll stab him when he's sleeping.
9. I don't think chicken is a lunch meat.
10. Everyone in my office that has a pet on their desk has fish. I have frogs.
LOL flecky!! and now, off to search for youtube clip . . .
