Questions for you ladies if you have a minute...

We are trying to expand our birthday business at the farm...Currently we just do them during the fall hayrides. They come and go out before the general public and just pay the regular fee. They have a couple of picnic tables reserved for them but that is basically the extent of it...

So we are looking to expand on that and try to expand it to other seasons as well...My boss was thinking we could do things during strawberry and blueberry seasons as well...

Any ideas? And if you were having you kids party or going to a kids party on a farm what might you want to see/have the kids do, etc.?

THANKS SO MUCH!

Re: Questions for you ladies if you have a minute...

  • We went to a party at our local orchard in September.  They let all the kids pick a pumpkin (a small one of course) and set up a decorating station.  That was a blast!  They also offered cider (warm or cold) for all the kids along with cider donuts.  They did the hay ride, and there were characters all along the way.  Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty (the kids had to wake her up), Robin Hood, etc.  It was seriously the best party I've ever been to.

If you did a summer one, you could have the kids make strawberry/blueberry shortcake with the berries they just picked.

  • an activity for the spring months..they could get those clay pots and have the kids plant a flower in them after they decorate them.

I was thinking little strawberry shortcakes for that season.

  • I would TOTALLY do that!  Sounds awesome!  Do you have any animals?  A little petting zoo perhaps?
  • We had my daughter's 2nd birthday at Pezza Farm in Johnston (in October) and for her party, we rented one of their empty greenhouses.  In addition to having a hayride,  we picked small pumpkins, visited their petting zoo and fed the animals some grain and played in a pile of hay that they had set up in the greenhouse.  Something you could do in the spring/summer months maybe would be to have a bubble station where kids could blow lots of different bubbles or something like that.  Definitely do something with animals if you can....kids love that stuff!!
  • We went to one in the fall, hayride and picked pumpkins- they had them already out in a field so kids all got the same size(ish) and played with cutouts of pumpkins and fall stuff.  They had a place inside for the party part, nothing special done inside besides eat and cake.  If strawberry or blueberry- could do small shells/biscuits (I like the shells taht are like angel cake...mmmm) and make individual shortcakes.  can have party favors as an additional cost of candy apples maybe.  summer/plant season, paint pots or even put foam stickers on palstic ones and plant plants or herbs they would actually use/eat... anything along those lines maybe.  i can't think f anything else right now... but it would be fun to do that!
