Other Nest Boards?

Has anyone ventured onto other nest boards? I was just browsing some, and some of them are not very welcoming. At all.

There were some girls on the Relationships board looking for some honest advice, and they were just being mean and not taking her thread seriously.

I think I'm going to stick to the DFW board!

Re: Other Nest Boards?

  • I'm guessing that it's a lot like the TK international boards... they probably have their "clique" of people.  I will probably lurk and only post if I can get a good vibe off of it.
  • I read them sometimes for entertainment... the buying a home one was particularly comical.   I never posted though.

  • hahah. Yeah, I recognized some of the people on Relationships. They used to be on Snarky Brides, years ago. I remember them from when I was engaged before DH, and was on TK.

I just kind of feel bad for the people who come here really seeking advice about marriage and all they get in response is crap. I mean you have to think, if they're coming to a public forum for advice they're probably pretty desperate and at their last resort anyway, so they probably really do need help.

I'm just too empathetic of a person I suppose, to ever be mean to someone who is really asking for advice on marriage, or relationships, or a tough situation that they're struggling with in general.  I mean, y'all know I have my snarky moments, but not when I can tell someone is genuinely needing help.

  • All of the October 2010 board moved to TN in Novemeber so I have been lurking and occasionally posting on there.  I'm kinda scared to go anywhere else.  Maybe I will read them for entertainment.  I'm also really freaked out by TB and I'm about to be in the same stage and just can't bring myself to go over there and lurk yet.

  • I think Brianna's right.  TN international boards are probably just like TK international boards.
  • Dana, I didn't know you were fixing to be a bumpie ;)

I won't hold it against you. Much.

    Kidding!

  • I went to my month board a couple of times right after I first got married and it was deader than DFW.  I even came here several times, tried to buy Rangers tickets from someone's kid, etc, and got nothing.  Those that were posting wouldn't even come back and check to see if someone had responded.
  • I was just lurking on TB.... weird, I know.

Pumping at airports, day care costs, lap child on airplane.

Yep, so not ready for that.

  • Well, we will rock this board.
  • Tiffany,

I'm not ready for pumping at airports.  Or anywhere else for that matter.

    Brianna,

    I "contacted" you.

I guess I feel like asking for advice on marriage is more personal and a bigger deal than asking for advice on your wedding colors.

I can see making fun of someone for wanting to use fish for centerpieces. But not for trying to ask advice on intimate problems like their relationship.

  • Having anything come out of my boob freaks me out right now. Airport, home, doesn't matter.

Whoa whoa whoa. Fish centerpieces.  Let's leave those on TK.

  • Julie - I have "contacted" you back

But, but, but, I'm using them at the prom.  The kids will love it!

  • I'm bursting with laughter at both Brianna and Summer's last comments!

    Literally bursting.

Ditto.  I get it is natural and all that but I find it weird.

As for the rest of the boards, I read the Entertainment board every day but don't post.  I posted once on Family Matters like 2 years ago and got ripped to shreds.  They misread what you say and when a regular misinterprets what you say then everyone thinks that what they said is right and don't bother reading any follow up post to get the story.  Um, yeah, not a fun experience.  Now I just lurk on Family Matters, sometimes Married Life, Money Matters and sometimes relationship but I enjoy Money Matters.  Lately I've been reading on 9 to 5.  BUT just like the international boards on TK, the advice they give is great I think but they don't always express it very nicely.

    EW.

  • Brianna, sorry, I had to go there with the fish. Because it helped my point.

    Fish=valid reason to make fun.

Haha... I just had to take it to the next step, didn't I?

  • You would be surprised the number of fish centerpeice threads that come up.

Dang it BRIANNA!  Quit the TK talk!

  • ITA.  Yes, breastfeeding is natural and yes, it's a wonderful thing.  But I don't think in church, during the mass is really the place for it.  But hey, that's me.

I agree.  Why does the company that runs this site feel the need to change the terms of things like that from one site to the next?  Stupid.

On that same note, Brianna, I replied to your contact.

Yep after our cruise next we we will start trying.  I'm just not sure I can be a "bumpie".  It's like reading horror stories sometimes.  I'd rather just not know, even if it does happen to me I'll talk to my mom and my sister and be done.  I don't like giving to much TMI especially about things that come out of you!!Ick!

  • I lurk once in a while on a few boards (mostly just for some really funny stuff, there was one thread one time on S&R about using saran wrap for a back up condom...DH and I were rolling! I'll link it if I can find it again).

I only post on the crafts board though (other than here). Some of the girl can be pretty mean, but then there are just some post that make you sit back and say "what?!?!"

Julie- Totally agree, breastfeeding is natural but please not totally in public, it doesn't take that long to go walk outside or in a corner with your back to the room (does it? I add this because I don't have kids so you can totally blast me away if I'm wrong lol)

  • Julie, don't you be tellin me I have to feed my kid in the bathroom! Would YOU want to eat in the bathroom?

I HATE that argument. Your baby doesn't know the bathroom from the eiffel tower. It's you with the problem Get. Over. It.

  • I haven't spent any time on any other Nest boards.  However, while lurking on TK, I saw a post from Kathy about TTC boards on the TB.  I thought to myself, "I would like to try to have a baby at the end of the year and I am pretty uneducated about the pointers that Kathy is mentioning.  Maybe I should check it out."

I was TERRIFIED!  And I haven't been back!!!

Yes, I am telling you to go to the restroom, or your car.

I will also admit to kind of confronting a lady who was talking on her cell phone in the bathroom at Target.  That's just gross.
