I will also admit to kind of confronting a lady who was talking on her cell phone in the bathroom at Target.  That's just gross.

Oh my gosh - This x 1M.  They are chatting along in the stall!  Really?  I flush twice just to piss them off.

ETA: I did the quotes right!!  Thanks Jaymi!

So the day that I did it, I just sat there and kept flushing.  It was very entertaining.

    Bragger.

Hahah. I will get it figured out.

  • Talking on the phone in the bathroom doesn't bother me. Women getting so flipping upset because people ask her to nurse in the bathroom, does. I will never understand their argument.

  • You guys are killing me with this breast feeding talk. Too funny.

  • You know, I never thought about that nursing in the bathroom thing.    Well, actually I've never thought about nursing this much, period.

I think the bathroom is pretty dang gross, personally.  I wouldn't eat in the bathroom, so why would I feed an infant there?

I don't think they should do it out in the open though....and mothers, correct me if I am wrong... but can't you "pump" in advance and give your child a bottle when you are in church, or at an airport... or other inconvenient places?

This whole discussion gives me the heebie jeebies.

  • Not on the subject of boobs -

The only other boards on here I go to are D&R and MM.  I'm on them - religiously.

  • If you pump in advance and then give your baby a bottle - I've heard it might cause nipple confusion and then it's harder to naturally nurse the baby.  Don't ask me how I know that.

They make those covers now, though.  That's better than whipping out the boob for all to see.

  • Sara - I went to the TTC board to see what you were talking about and holy wow!  I have never seen so many acronyms.   I'm not even sure they are speaking english.

Lacey - ..but wait.... at least some of these kids go to daycare right?   So they have to be bottlefed anyway sometimes, no?

    *stamps "baby stupid" on forehead*

I don't even want to breastfeed! I wasn't breastfed and I would like to think I turned out pretty smart :)

  • I think Robert DeNiro had the fake boob in "Meet the Fockers" for nipple confusion.

    Tiffany,

All the acronyms are one of the reasons I came back to TK after my wedding.  It wasn't English and it was an over-share of major proportions.

And blankets. It doesn't seem that difficult to cover yourself up a little, but what do I know?

  • Tiffany-  I was freaked out!  Temping and charting and drinking or not drinking green tea...OH MY!

Good point.  ::shrugs shoulders:: I don't know...

  • Lacey, yes that's true.

But if you ever want anyone else to be able to feed the baby, or go anywhere without them, you'll have to pump at some point.

This is another reason I am staying off of there!  DH and I are just trying it the good ole fashion way.  I don't have the time or the care to chart, take my temp every day.  It has worked for MANY MANY other people in the world just doing it the old way so we are sticking to that.

DH did ask me if anyone on those boards knew a secret to having a boy.  He wants one so bad!

  • I fed my child formula.

I should be tarred and feathered.

My FIL gave me some "tips" on how to get a girl. He really wants a grand-daughter. It was seriously one of the most awkward conversations in my life.

OMG.  My MIL had this conversation with me, but about a boy.  I seriously was mortified.

Temping and charting really isn't hard nor does it take that long (I promise this is all I'll say on the matter Wink), but I've heard if you want a boy you should have sex as close to when you ovulate as possible (so it would help to chart in that case). I obviously haven't tried having one or the other yet so I only know that's what I'e heard Smile

LOL! Wow that would be awkward  (in both cases)! Now I curious what they said though... lol

    You should.

Some women get seriously depressed and think they are a complete failure because they either can't BF or the latch is not good enough and they have to pump and do it with a bottle.  Good thing I am weirded out about the whole thing.  I think it's great you are so "confident" in your choice to use formula as I read over on TK when we discussed this one time.

    Sad Sorry.

  • Don't let my DH get a hold of this thread. He will have me doing things i don't even know I'm doing so we can have a girl. He wants one so bad.

    Ugh. Puke.

Oh, I wanted to at first, but she wasn't getting enough, I was getting stressed out and we both were exhausted.  I'm all for it, if you want to do it, but for us - it was easier on formula.  The "lactation consultants" at the hospital made me feel HORRIBLE though.

One asked me "well, do you want your baby to get sick and possibly die from diseases that could be prevented by breast feeding??"  I literally broke down into tears in the hospital room.  That's when DH said "You.  Out of the room.  Take your friend (the assistant) and if you or anyone else with the word 'lactation' in their title come in here, I'm kicking someone's a$$"

And that was that.  My child has never been sick either.

    Suck it lacation consultant.

This makes me incredibly sad that they would be so mean to you.  :(

ETA: Especially as a first time mother.  I'm sure you were doing your very best to be the very best mother that you could be.

  • Brianna - Ugh, I know we talked about it before but I REALLY hate that you had to go through that.

Besides, shouldn't discussions of what could or could not happen to your child be up to your pediatrician... not some weird hospital consultant?
