just have a minute as i am super busy at work but i wanted to check in and say top o the mornin to y'all!
anything exciting going on?
last night after my 4 mile run, my cousin came over with her BF. we had dinner, played some games, and hit the bed. fun night, low key but fun.
tonight i am trying a new pasta dish and the sauce is made from avocado--yum! planning to hit the gym again, but might have to work late, which would cramp my style.
big going away party for my cousin on saturday that i am hosting, really excited for that
Re: humpday hello
hello!!
Not too much exciting stuff here. We're obsessing about election results from yesterday. A lot of the major positions are super close and are all being re-calculated as we speak. With all the Governor crap that's been going on here in WI, these elections have been pretty important and it's nerve racking!
Other than that, I'm exhausted! Woke up at 3:45 am b/c my stomach was growling. WTF?!?!?! I laid there listening to my stomach, what I can only assume, was eat itself, and fell back asleep about an hour before I had to wake up.
Also, it's rainy and gloomy here. Would have been a great day to curl up and watch craptastic lifetime movies.
Shauni- How much snow did you end up getting?
Not much going on here. Greg and I got in a little thing this morning.. boo I think I was the one who made it more than what it should be ( another reason why I think I will be POAS this afternoon). So I was late for work feel like crap.
Tonight we have outr trivia league.
At our house we got about 2" before it turned to a warm rain and melted the new snow away. but our entire yard is still under snow, anywhere from 6" in some spots to 3' in others!
however up north, where we spent the weekend, there were 10" of fresh snow! we skied fresh powder all morning which kicked my asss, i am so out of shape! and then i took a major digger because of said fresh snow, but i was glad it was there to cushion my fall.

I'm tired and my eyes are burning. Cheated like holy hell on the diet last night (at Red Lobster), but I still seemed to only gained .2 lbs. Prolly will catch up w/ me tomorrow.
Came home from RL, finished watching Biggest Loser, cried like a baby when my fave got kicked off (hence burning eyes), then went to bed. Put on my nice pants for work today and they fell right off. Have 'em cinched w/ a belt and feel kinda slobby cuz they're so big.
Our server is working, but now we have a connection problem. Qwest is supposed to be coming sometime today, so I'm at a loss for what to do at work. Just wanna go home and go back to bed.
Shauni- 4 miles? That is awesome!
I came in early because I need to leave at noon today to take care of a personal matter. Not much planned tonight but I do want to go for a run outside. I have to really push myself to do it.
I'm exhausted. Yesterday, I worked late, came home, cooked dinner (hot dogs and mac and cheez so yeah, it took like 15 min) and H and I took Petey to training class. Petey got within 2' of another dog without going berserk. That's apparently his current threshold, cause he went nuts at 1.5', several times. The trainers think he is possessive of H and I and that if we were removed from the situation, that he'd be fine. While it would be nice to know for sure what his problem is, it's a pretty annoying problem. Once we got home from dog training, I worked out, took a shower and crashed at 10PM.
Tonight, we have a dance lesson. I kinda wish we didn't have anything so I could take a nice, long nap.
Oh and the roofers started working today! I'm pretty excited about a new roof. They say they should be done in 2 days. We'll see.

What are you taking? I've always wanted to take salsa lessons but Richard can't dance.
I do love a party, what's the menu for Saturday? And please report in on your avocado sauce.
Ahoy mateys.
Last night I left work and froze my tuckus off on the train. 55 and raw? AC on. 95 and humid? No AC. Hate.
I went to the library to pick up some books on hold, then home to change, empty the dishwasher, do a load of laundry, put three or four loads of laundry away, lay out clothes for today, and packed my lunch. MFD and I ate and he vacuumed then went to mummery.
I watched a Neeleys episode on DVR (obsessed with the neeleys), along with Body of Proof (is that the right title?). I talked to one of my BFFs for a long time and headed to bed at 10:15. MFD got home soon after, and I think I was out like a light before 11.
Tonight I have a Relay team meeting followed by a committee meeting. I won't get home until around 10. That makes me sad in advance.
saturday's menu is:
shrimp cocktail
pasta salad (a healthy one!)
bruschetta
deviled eggs
quac and hummus with chips and veggies
crabbies
pull apart antipasto pizza
chocolate chip cookie dough truffles
blackberry pie crumble bars
and i need a signature cocktail--something easy! any ideas??
do i need to change anything on my menu? there will be about 25 people. i also really need a signature cocktail idea that is easy!
Blog
Love it. I love all picky foods. As long as you make a good quantity of all, you should be good. Can I have the crumble bars recipe? And how are you doing your pasta salad?
This is super easy:
Neely?s Frozen Grape Sangria
3 cups green grapes
1 Granny Smith apple, cored and chopped
1 lemon, sliced
1 cup grapes, sliced in 1/2
1/4 cup superfine sugar
2 bottles dry white wine, chilled (recommended: Pino Grigio)
1 cup white grape juice, chilled
1/2 cup vodka
Place 3 cups grapes in a freezer about 2 hours before you want to serve your sangria.
Combine the chopped apples, lemon slices, grapes halves, wine, sugar, white grape juice, and vodka, in a large glass pitcher filled with ice. Stir well to dissolve the sugar. Add frozen green grapes to glasses and fill with sangria.

Stealing, sounds amazing!
I love sangria!
Nothing much exciting here today. We got about 6" of snow on Monday, but yesterday it was up to 56* so everything started melting and now our driveway is a giant puddle. I am cleaning and transplanting some of my seedlings, then I am going to work from home a bit before going to work tonight.
Hey y'all. Shauni - I def recommend sangria. It's easy, delicious, and great for groups.
My inbox if full of spam, I guess since that company was hacked. I *almost* fell for a FedEx phishing thing because I have a lot of packages being delivered in the near future, and it came from an address @fedex.com (usually they're like...fedexx.gmail.com). Sigh. Why do people want my info anyway? I'm broke.
Tomorrow everyone comes back to my lab and I no longer have to eat lunch alone. Speaking of lunch, I'm starving and it's not even 11 am. Ughhhhhhhh. Busy work day ahead!
haha after posting this, i spoke to my cousin and we decided on sangria
i make killer sangria, although stephanie's recipe sounds awesome too-might have to make a white and a red!
stephanie, i cannot find the recipe right now for the blackberry pie crumble bars, they are at home. but the pasta salad i am making is this (with reduced fat feta):
Pasta Salad with Tomatoes, Zucchini, and Feta

Yawn. I'm exhausted after a 13 hour work day yesterday.
That sangria recipe sounds delicious. I may have to steal that for my Easter menu, which I can't believe I've planned already.
So I have a question. How much does a lack of etiquette bother you with wedding planning?
Someone I know is getting married and has said multiple times that she doesn't care if labels are tacky, she's not paying for a calligrapher and not handing writing her invites, she's inviting 50 people over the limit of her venue, invited people to pre-wedding parties that aren't invited to the wedding and is throwing her own pre-wedding parties.
I had to change the conversation because I had nothing nice to say.
Married / The Cookaholic Wife
I think as a whole, us ladies have a big problem with it, since we put the effort in to be on a forum like TK, ask questions, get feedback and ideas, etc. There's a girl at work getting married next May and I've tried to give her advice etc and she's just not interested. Apparently not everyone truly cares the way we did when we were planning.
And don't even get me started on cousin's July wedding: STD via email from groom's mother, wedding website just created, bride doesn't have a dress yet....yeesh!
Eep! That stuff drives me nuts, and I'd change the topic as well. But if people aren't rubbing it in your face that they don't care about etiquette, I try to overlook it.
Like the wedding we're going to in May - e-invitations, I'm sure there was A/B list because we had to RSVP by March 1 (wedding is late May), 2pm wedding so I have no idea if they'll feed us (which is more important to me these days!), stupid poem asking for money instead of physical gifts, etc. But I like the people, so we're going - and giving them cash!
labels don't bother me, I know 9/10ers did this. I did handwrite all of mine.
overinviting is not a great idea.
the inviting prewedding but not to the wedding is ok sometimes only if its for the bach parties, my reasoning >> You have a limited guests at wedding but want to go out and dance/party for bach but you've only invited nana and aunts that are not gonna want to shake some booty I think it's perfectly fine to invite the gfs.
There are some things that even the unclassiest of wedding need to have though and that is a decent invite through the mail, food and lots of it and make it good and drinks.
I am also gettting these in my spam folder. From Fedex and US parcel.
Yesterday, I stayed home from work because my stomach has been messed up for like 4 days now, it constantly growls and I have to use the restroom more frequent, (sorry if tmi) other than having to go to the restrooms I fell totally normal.
Last night my mom call me and says she has 2 flat tires and she needs me to pick her up and wait for the tow truck to take her car to the dealership. So I head up there and she now has 3 flat (on the rim) tires. She is a district manager for Ulta and obviously being in a position like that you make people mad at you so she's pretty sure one of the manager (of the store she was at yesterday) got some of her family to slit her tires while she was in the store. When the tow truck got there he found puncture holes in all four tires, he said it looked like someone used an ice pick and stabbed them. We saw the holes and thats exactly what it looked like. So now she has to buy new tires for 800 dollars today. Not to mention she just bought this brand new car like maybe 5 months ago and it has brand new michellan (sp?) tires on it.
I technically did labels. They were pretty ones though and they came with my invitation set from Michael's.
It really depends on whose wedding it is. If it's one of my family members, it better be etiquette approved or I'm flipping sh!tz on my mother for putting me through the he!! she did. As for my friends, I really don't care what they do. Since most of them are far away, I'd just like to know the hotel and stuff as soon as possible so H and I can book travel arrangements. And if I'm flying to go to your wedding, you better feed me some d@mn good food.
And no matter what they do, my wedding and the way I did it is always better.
(I guess it's kind of like how moms think their kid is always the best at everything)

I don't care as much about strict etiquette (labels don't bother me a bit) as I do about things that are just plain rude - A/B lists, tiered receptions, etc. Anything that would insult me as a guest or make me feel less welcome, those things bug me. Sometimes a bride doesn't realize they might be hurting someone's feelings, but it really bothers me when people point it out and then they say, "Who cares what they think?"
I really wanted my guests to be happy and have a good time. When a bride (or groom) does something that they know is going to upset someone or cause them discomfort, and uses the 'it's my day' excuse, it really ticks me off.
I have nothing bad to say about labels & am all for them since I went that route - they were wrap around and looked nice.
I am, however, against her attitude towards basically everything else. Why do some brides absolutely lose their minds and all sense of etiquette when it comes to their pretty pretty princess day. Yes, the day is about you (& don't forget the husband to be) but that doesn't grant you a free pass to act like a complete asshat.

Ditto this to a T.
She did, the night it happened.
