Re: Thursday Poll
1. I am grateful that my day started with my kid saying "bus" unprompted when a school bus went by - super cute.
2. The other day, some kid rang the doorbell at 9:30 pm as a prank and it really ticked me off...
3. ...especially since I was watching "Sex & The City 2" which was ginormously awful and I didn't want to be disturbed.
4. Vacation in May! Charleston, baby! Mmm I am dreaming of bbq and shrimp and grits.
Ohhh - these are good questions!
1. One gratitude thing: I'm grateful that DH is good with money. I had no idea we had enough in savings to put down 20% for the house we were looking at.
2. One whiny thing: I was psyched to take my first pilates class tonight, but it's full. Boooooo.
3. One embarrassing thing: I considered not even going because I couldn't remember if you had to do pilates barefoot and my toenails are atrocious. (My yoga class is on hiatus and is in a big dark room, so I've gotten away with ugly feet)
4. One thing you're looking forward to: I have tomorrow off and am spending a chunk of it at the Stone Ridge Academy Used Book Sale. I can not wait for a morning along to load up on metro reads!
1. I'm thankful that no one in my house is sick right now. This is probably short-lived, but I'm enjoying it while it lasts.
2. I'd really like to know if I'm going in to work on Monday. Get your act together, Congress!
3. I've been snapping at DH a lot lately, and I really need to chill out and express my feelings in a better way.
4. Tomorrow is our 5 year wedding anniversary, so we're both taking the day off work and going out to a nice lunch.
1. One gratitude thing - I spotted a friend waiting for the bus this morning, so I picked her up and had such a fun commute. She makes me laugh so hard, and it's such a better way to start the day rather than thinking about what I have to do at work.
2. One whiny thing - They are in the process of creating a new position at work that I have been earmarked for, and it is taking FOREVER. I seriously don't know why they need to fifty thousand freaking meetings about it. I'd enjoy the work in that position so much more, and it's killing me to wait.
3. One embarrassing thing - This happened a few years ago, but it's crazy embarrassing. At the time I lived in Adams Morgan, I walked over the bridge to Woodley Park to catch the Metro. So, I'm walking, enjoy the beautiful weather, and I notice I'm getting a lot of really strange looks from people walking past me. I'm like, "What the eff? Why are all these people staring at me?" Then, I realize that my bag has caused the under, opaque layer of my dress to ride up all the way to my waist, where it is all bunched up. So, it looked as if I was going to work in a sheer dress, hose, and underpants.
4. One thing you're looking forward to - I'm doing a 2.4 mile open water swim in the Gulf in Florida next month. I can't wait!
I see nothing wrong with that.
1. I'm grateful for this gorgeous weather today. I love it!
2. But I'm annoyed it supposed to rain tomorrow. Although perhaps this will work in my favor and the rain will cause my tennis class on Saturday morning to be canceled
3. Umm, hmm. Probably the amount of time I spend on PetFinder looking at dogs, especially since we probably won't want to adopt until the fall, at the earliest. I spend upwards of 2 hours/day looks at doggies. Here's my current crush: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/17783649
4. I'm looking forward to giving my notice at this job. I can't wait. 3 weeks from tomorrow! And then I'm only 2 weeks from a) leaving this job and b) going to Jamaica!!!
1. I'm grateful to be spending time this week with a girl who I became friends with on TK. Super dorky, but she's wonderful and I'm glad she's in my life.
2. I am tiiiiiiiired. Seriously, this getting healthy thing means eating less and less caffeine and though I was expecting it, to be this exhausted on a Thursday is lame.
3. I have to have surgery and am considering putting off my waxing appointment because I feel like I'll be overly exposed to a whole lot of people in that room.
4. My mom is coming Tuesday for said surgery. I was annoyed at first, but I'm kind of glad she'll be here.
Stand up for something you believe in.
1. One gratitude thing- I'm greatful for the sunny day today and getting to run without hat, gloves, and three layers of clothes this morning!
2. One whiny thing- The potential Government Shutdown. Just let me know what's going to happen so I can get on with my life!
3. One embarrassing thing- I just tore the seam where the back and sleeve meet of my dress shirt. Thank goodness I'm wearing a sweater!
4. One thing you're looking forward to- Finding out if we are getting the house we put an offer on last week. We are waiting for the owners to find out about a medical test and then we get to do the inspection. The anticipation is killing me!
1. One gratitude thing: Like everyone else, I'm grateful for the awesome weather! I would also be grateful for a day or two of furlough, paid or not. I need a mani/pedi and some shopping time!
2. One whiny thing: DD has been waking up hysterically crying between 6:00 and 6:30; she used to sleep solidly until 7:00 and wake up happy. I both don't want my sleep shortened, and am a little stressed out as to why she's waking up earlier and unhappy.
3. One embarrassing thing: My scalp has been dry lately, resulting in dandruff. I've been using shampoo to help, but it's not fully disappearing. I'm trying to wear light colored shirts so it doesn't show!
4. One thing you're looking forward to: Anniversary plans in June for Volt and a B&B in Frederick! Then, a week later, a big family vacation to Disney! Woo hoo!
1. One gratitude thing
with the way the first three point five months have gone of 2011- I am so thankful for the wonderful health insurance my company offers. Hospital stays, spinal surgery, ambulance transport, spinal steroid injections, cardiologists, now an ENT, neurosurgeons, etc... are d@mn expensive.
2. One whiny thing
I went to zumba last night and I am sore. And, it reinforced my coordination issues.
3. One embarrassing thing
my dancing in zumba
4. One thing you're looking forward to
DH's cousin is in town. He has not seen her in 20+ years and we are both looking forward to having her and her BF over for dinner. His family rarely travels so this is huge!
2. One whiny thing - I hate how big I have left myself get. I am now just a few punds shy of my pregnancy weight and I am not pregnant. I looked better after Molly was born. Even though I have already lost 7 pounds it is going to take a long time to get to where I want to be and it sucks especially because in the amoutn of time it took me to lose 7, DH has lost 20.
3. One embarrassing thing - My house is in such a state of constant disaster I always need to take a day off before company comes just to clean it.
4. One thing you're looking forward to - Molly's 2nd birthday party is in a week. While the family visiting and all the work is a little stressful, I always love throwing their birthday parties. Plus my sister and her family will be over and the kids play well together.
1. I am grateful my child, after refusing to nap yesterday, was asleep 10 minutes after we went to bed last night.
2. Would congress just stop acting like children and pass a stupid budget!
3. I don't think I"ve washed my hair since Monday.
4. Looking forward to a 1 yr old bday party this weekend
with a friend who left work after she had her baby.
Call me jealous!
1. One gratitude thing: my dogs that snuggle with me when i'm sick (like today and yesterday)
2. One whiny thing: I want this cold to go away!!!!!!
3. One embarrassing thing: I peed a little every time I sneezed yesterday.
4. One thing you're looking forward to: A vacation in Mexico. Which may or may not happen.
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
1. One gratitude thing - Just got back from a fantastic trip to New Zealand. It was also really nice to be away from work for three weeks.
2. One whiny thing - Jet lag. I tossed and turned most of last night, so I am tired and cranky today.
3. One embarrassing thing - Nothing lately. Probably one of my most embarrassing moments was during my freshman year of high school, when I fell backwards over a desk and took two other desks down with me in a study hall full of juniors and seniors.
4. One thing you're looking forward to - Getting DH's credit card bill paid off in the next two months and being out of debt.
Baby248 - ETA 1/10/13
1. I'm grateful that we've reduced DS down to one night-time feeding at 2AM, other than that he is STTN.
2. DH had to get his crown replaced. Apparently his tooth had gotten really bad, so he had to have a root canal as well = $1000
3. The same day as DH's dental work, I proceeded to back out of a parking space and hit a yellow pillar, producing a huge dent in our just paid off 2009 Dodge Caliber....= $500 for the deductible plus increased insurance fees later on probably
4. My mom is coming into town this weekend. I'm excited for her to see how much DS has grown and changed since she last saw him at Christmas.

1. One gratitude thing: For the great, relaxing day that DH and I had earlier this week when we took our anniversary off work and just went out to lunch, took long naps, etc. It was much needed.
2. One whiny thing: It's a choice of two: 1) I wish they'd decide if the govt is going to shutdown. I can't stand the waiting or 2) The LOs NEED to start STTN with no crying. They don't need to be fed, but they wake a few times each night. We've tried Ferber with limited success.
3. One embarrassing thing: I've worn the same three pairs of pants continuously for the past few weeks and only got them cleaned after they had visible stains.
4. One thing you're looking forward to: There's a Moms of Multipes sale this weekend. We don't really have the money to spend right now, but I can't wait anyway--just to see all the other twins there will be fun.
1. One gratitude thing I'm thankful to have a secure job, and not have to worry about a shut-down.
2. One whiny thing I hate this in-between/back and forth weather we've been having. I've been clueless as to what to wear for most of the week.
3. One embarrassing thing I've really missed my Friday nights in front of the TV watching Say Yes to the Dress. I think it's been like 2 weeks since I've seen it... not sure if I'll get to tomorrow either.
4. One thing you're looking forward to Our anniversary in a little over a month!
Planning Bio
1. One gratitude thing: after 5 months of filing claims, faxing, and phone calls, i am grateful to finally be getting some help from unemployment even if it's from NY and not DC.
2. One whiny thing: my entire body aches from priming/painting while volunteering at arlington arts center on tuesday. and advil doesn't seem to do squat. getting older sucks.
3. One embarrassing thing: i've gotten totally hooked on angry birds. someone needs to take my phone away.
4. One thing you're looking forward to: visiting my fam & friends in MA next weekend, sans DH. i haven't seen them since thanksgiving and haven't had any one on one time with my mom since before we moved down here. of course, my mom will be driving me nuts within hours of my arrival but for now, i'm looking forward to it.
1. One gratitude thing - I'm grateful that if I am furloughed and even if I'm not retroactively paid, we'll be OK. It will be a good test run for me for when I leave in June or July. Also thrilled that we have a start date for our two new civilians-replacing-contractors by the end of the month. The sooner they're acclimated, the sooner my boss and supervisor will feel comfortable with me leaving.
2. One whiny thing - Even though I'm on allergy meds year-round, this past week has been killing me! I'm stuffy all the time, it's hard to fall and stay asleep, waking up with a sore throat every morning, and tired all day as a result. No fun!
3. One embarrassing thing - Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays I wear the same pair of black pants to work. (I do wash them every other day.) I also used to wear them Wednesdays and Fridays, but now I telecommute or wear jeans those days. It's like my work uniform. I'm too lazy to shake up my frumpy style and probably won't until I leave and can just buy some new office casual-type clothes for my new career.
4. One thing you're looking forward to - I suggested karaoke to my old kickball friends and we're planning to hit the Rock-It Grill in two weeks. I'll be practicing! I also love that we get to do line dancing (rock/dance, not country) in between sets!
1. Health, safety, job security (shutdown affects DH but his job won't go anywhere), financial ability to handle a shutdown/potential loss of DH's income for us both.
2. People who don't follow directions. Right now a large part of my job is collecting paperwork from parents and co-workers. Fill it out correctly the first time and I won't have to hound you about it. Thanks, thanks, thanks.
3. I made a kid cry today and I don't really feel bad about it at all.
4. Spring break!!!! 6 more school days away, but it feels like forver, man.
My Food Blog
1. One gratitude thing: Grateful for such wonderful doctors in this area working with FIL's exceptionally rare heart condition
2. One whiny thing: Annoyed that hubz got his very first speeding ticket while driving in an unfamiliar part of town, with his foot off the gas, in a "residential" (yet totally not...) neighborhood, and that the cop was a total d-bag about it... $100 later... (you think he could expense it since he was coming from a stupid meeting for work?)
3. One embarrassing thing: Similar to PP's Zumba class, I hope no one ever watches me in my Thursday step class... especially the push-ups afterward
4. One thing you're looking forward to: Hawaii in August for a wedding... though the thought of planning another big vacay is overwhelming me at the moment
Scout
Chocolate Blog!
1. that DS has graduated from being highlighted at the gym (kids who can't walk on their own are highlighted) and it is harder to get in at certain times
2. my house is way to small, and we can't do anything about it, we bought in nov 2005 and nobody will touch us to refinance etc...I have many friends in these really big houses that spent less than us....yesterday was a hard day for me in this dept! and that DH does not know about work next week, he is a contractor and though the feds will probably get paid back the furlough like in the past, the contractors don't!!!!
3. I don't know how to parallel park!!!
4. that spring is coming!!!
1. One gratitude thing - it's sunny!
2. One whiny thing - I had my 30w prenatal appt this morning and, once again, gained more weight than I thought I would. I'm now only 5lbs from what I weighed when I delivered each of my other two kids... but I still have 10 weeks to go and am averaging more than a pound a week at this point
3. One embarrassing thing - putting on my maternity bathing suit for DD2's mommy and me swim class tomorrow
4. One thing you're looking forward to - Easter - the next few weeks are crazy busy, but once we get to Easter weekend things will slow down for 2 weeks until my sister's wedding brings on the crazy again!
1. I am grateful for the warm weather today and being able to take the kids out to ride bikes for the first time in awhile!
2. Every freaking person I know is pregnant. This morning 2 friends from high school announced their pregnancies. I'm happy for them but honestly I'm a little sad too. I so badly want a third and it's going to be awhile before we can even try again
3. We have two hampers in our room and they're both overflowing. I don't really plan to do anything about until the weekend.
4. DH's 30th birthday is next week. We're going out to dinner and I'm going to eat unhealthy food and not feel guilty about it. I have a surprise trip planned for him and I am so excited to tell him!

3. One embarrassing thing- repeat--I am 30 pounds heavier than I was 3 years ago:(
4. One thing you're looking forward to- summer, hanging out with my sister and family in June, graduation and new opportunities!
1. One gratitude thing: DH is gov't and I am a gov't contractor. I have been listed as essential for the time being. So I am grateful that even if the gov't shuts down we won't lose both our paychecks.
2. One whiny thing: I am stuck in Hawaii on gov't travel for a month. I am considered an essential contractor so chances are I won't get to go home early even if the gov't shuts down. (Yes, its whiny)
3. One embarrassing thing: I signed up for a triathlon this weekend, even though its 50-50 that I'll be able to finish before they tear down the finish line. ( Course isn't closed)
4. One thing you're looking forward to: Returning home :-)
