OB/Gyn recs..I know, I know...

It gets asked all the time. I apologize for a repeat question..

Anyway, SW or W metro..(i.e. Edina, SLP, Minnetonka, Golden Valley) would be preferable. I was seeing an NP that I liked before I lost my health insurance for yearly exams, but I want to start seeing the Dr. I will hopefully have for pregnancy and birth a few times before we start TTC. Although I have only seen women, I am not oppposed to a man. I am just looking for someone who isn't going to freak out on me for staying active and will be open to my wants and needs. I know that's a little vague since I h aven't decided any of this in detail since it's making me light headed just thinking about being pregnant...

Any advice would be appreciated!

  • Clinic Sofia in Edina.  Dr. Block.

  • Dr. Nicole Dean at Park Nicollet SLP is fantastic. I also used to see Julie Rice (NP) there, but she isn't quite as friendly and accessible as Nicole is.
  • I saw Sari Witzke at Park Nicollet SLP. I really liked her. I have only seen her once. Plus she referred me to a primary care Dr as well who I love!
  • Ditto on Dr. Nicole Dean at Park Nicollet-SLP.  Loooove her!!  She is so encouraging and nice and doesn't take any of your concerns lightly.
  • I really like Erica Berven at Park Nicollet SLP.

  • I too love Dr. Block.... not sure if she is taking new patients though.

  • Dr. Melissa Mark at Fairview Uptown.  She's family practice, but I've always gone to her for the GYN stuff.  She's FABULOUS.  She's still my doctor even though I'm 5 hours away.
  • My mother and I have always gone to Southdale OB-GYN in Burnsville for years and have both been very pleased. They also have an office in Edina. Many of the NPs and MDs work at both. I see Meg Linden, CNP. I'm not looking to become pregnant anytime soon. If I were, I'd definitely find a doctor too. Good luck!

Interesting - I saw Julie Rice, too and felt the same way.

    Thanks all!

I go to Southdale OB/GYN Consultants in Edina. I've seen Dr. Majkrzak (pronounced ?my shack?), Dr. Gengerke, CNP Karen Sherk (I don't think she looks anything like her photograph!! She looks much younger/cooler to me) and Dr. O'Halloran. I've loved everyone that I've seen there.

I used to see Julie and have noticed she is not as accessible as she used to be.  This may sound strange, but she updated her clothes and hair and her bedside manner seems to have closed off some when she did that.

I was at the clinic twice a week during my pregnancy due to other medical issues and alternated between Julie and Dr. Dean. Needless to say, I got to know them well. :)

ETA: I saw Dr. Sari Witzke a few times as well when I couldn't get into Dr. Dean for varying reasons and really liked her.

  • I've been going to Southdale OBGYN in Edina since I was 18. I have seen quite a few of the doctors but my favorites are: Stark, Tweedy, Meschke and Majkrzak. I have always felt comfortable and recommend them 100%.

I see Dr. Majkrzak and love her. She's young and up on new technologies.
