Re: Confirmed: Guess where we're going.
You will have a blast. :-)
Yes! We have a multi-park pass or something. Definitely Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios, Animal Kingdom, and a waterpark.
I guess I did mean that :-)
Any tips for me based on your recent experience? Would love to know some must-see's, must-do's, must-stuff your face places...
I was told to avoid Epcot with small kids as they are going to be bored. But, that Small World thing is intriguing to me. Do you think kids would like that part? If we already paid to get in the park, I have no problem spending only an hour or two there and leaving.
It is going to KILL me to not go on the roller coasters (I assume Maria is too short). I don't want to make everyone have to wait for me to go on a coaster by myself. But maybe with the fast pass thing? Maybe if I do it once or twice I'll get my fix. My addiction to roller coasters started at Disney World way back when?
It's a Small World is at Magic Kingdom. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/magic-kingdom/attractions/its-a-small-world/
And I agree that small kids probably wouldn't get a lot out of Epcot.
Tigers, you've got to go on Space Mountain! One of my favorite roller coasters ever. And it's not too intense, so maybe Maria could ride. Oh, I just checked (can you tell that I'm excited for you?!). The height requirement is 44 inches. Is Maria anywhere near that (I have no idea how tall kids are)? http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/magic-kingdom/attractions/space-mountain/
I haven't been to Disney since I was in 5th grade - but what I can remember is that the Canadian Pavilion at Epcot nearly ruined one of our family vacations.
My Dad REALLY wanted to go and all 5 of us kids were moaning, dragging our feet and rolling our eyes the whole time. My dad gave up and kind of left the area in a huff. My mom started to lecture us about being appreciative. It was an awkward time - but all was fine once we went to a restaurant in the Chinese area and had a rib eating contest.
Honestly though - I think I may have been in 1st grade the first time we went to Epcot. I thought everything was so exotic and cool because it was different from anything I had ever seen. I bought a ring from "Morocco". Haha. But I was the second youngest - so my 3 older siblings were probably the reason we went.
It seems like the parks you are already planning on - especially Animal Kingdom - would work best for your age range.
This just reminded me of something. My husband and I went to Epcot when we were dating (like 8-10 years ago). A massive thunderstorm hit and we ran for cover at the nearest building which happened to be a gift shop in the Canada section. We were there for like 45 minutes while it poured. I remember thinking that of all the areas of Epcot to get stranded in, Canada had to have been the least interesting!
Bottom line, Tigers - Avoid Canada and you guys will have a great vacation.
Yes, something about a river/bayou? I can't remember the name.
THAT is the one that got me addicted when I was a kid. That was the first one I rode! Yay! Maria can be kind of flaky about stuff like this so maybe I'll try to get her interest up. Flaky referring to a 6 year old probably shouldn't be used in the same sentence. She just is not that daring... yet.
LOL! But what if they have a tribute to Rush?
I give up! Tell me!
I am new around here- so this must be from before my time or I am just really dense.
Also - I am in support of you riding a roller-coaster even if your kids can't yet. It is mom's vacation too! I mean, just once can't take that long, right?
I don't know either. Although I noticed that it's old school Mickey.
Yes, you may not get it. That tells me I need to do it more.
You focused on the wrong part of the picture to get it
hmmmm...
Does it have to do with Clarabelle? Horace Horsecollar? the Beach Party?
I need more clues.
You got it!
D&M got it right! I "ring" the cowbell when I really like a post (assuming I have time to find a unique picture using one). I think I've strayed a little bit from the tradition, so I will be on the hunt for new opportunities to ring it
