I totally agree Shellac is pricy, but its good for special occastions and its nice to see it last.

Agreed!  The nail place I go to (off Preston and Alexis near Addison) does it for about $30 and mine lasted 3 weeks.  Be careful though, if they don't use the real Shellac (something like Gellac) it doesn't last as long.  I had a really great color done for my wedding, but it didn't last more than a week and a half before it started peeling off :(

What about beauty schools?  I've gone to one before and had a good experience. As long as you request someone who is about to graduate, it can't be that bad right? Stick out tongue

  • RE: threading vs. waxing.

     I've done both.

I find that threading looks much better - it's much more precise and you can get a fantastic shape - however...  it was much more painful for me than waxing.  I did it for about two years and when I changed jobs, just went back to waxing since the only place I got threaded at was too far away.

  • I usually get my nails done, however, I was once told to rub a little rubbing alcohol on the nails before appyling paint. It takes off the extra oils. I tried it a couple times and it helped last a little longer. I also use OPI too.
