my read shelf:
view from the living room, with my model Lucy, this is also our "Dining Room"
view from our bedroom/hallway ( there is a red cherry picture over the sink, that is my "red theme")
view from behind the table , as you can see our kitchen is small
and my red appliances
it obviously isn't my dream kitchen, but it works just fine. This isn't our forever home and we are WAY upside down in it (we paid 96k, the last two that were sold went for 7500 and 9000) so we aren't putting any extra into it, hopefully we'll be able to rent it when we need more house
The Kitchen is on the otherside of the wall we ripped out that I showed yesterday.
Befores: (Please ignore the mess! I took these the day we got home from our HM) Also check out that awesome wall paper.... it had barrels of apples on it! What were those people thinking? And how did J live with it?!
Check out the original siding (found 3 layers in in the wall we ripped out)
Afters:
New countertops and new paint (no more wall paper! yay!) We also got rid of the nasty flooring and added tile.
We added an island and a dishwasher! Thank god!
We also added cabinets where we ripped out the wall.
The decal over the sink says "The Four Basic Food Groups" Around the edges it says "Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, White Chocolate, Chocolate Truffles" (YUM!)
These 3 pictures are from things around our house that I blew up A Tree, the moon and the corn.

my read shelf:
We did our backsplash (and the bathroom), and the "stick down lux vinyl" floor - which is basically the same as tiling with less mess since you dont need adhesive for the back of the tile - and it is super easy

OMG look at that! What are you guys doing for cooking in the mean time? Grilling?
That was my first thought, too. Then I thought about how I would be having a panic attack.

I know you weren't asking me but when we did our kitchen we had a makeshift kitchen in the other corner. I would bring a large bottle full of water home everyday so we could have coffee or H could have oatmeal. We grilled, microwaved and ordered out. 90% of the stuff we used was plastic b/c if I washed dishes it was upstairs in the bathroom sink. Towards the end of the renovation I found myself very depressed. Clutter stresses me out and the whole downstairs was a mess. When we layed the floor in the living room we ate dinner and watched TV in the bedroom. We did the renovation during Sept so our anniversary was a night away from the mess and not working on the floor. We saved thousands of dollars by doing it ourselves so I guess it was worth it.
haha. grilling and pizza. and we do have the microwave hooked up (most of the time, when Tim hasn't turned the power off). We have no stove/oven (it's in the garage right now). The fridge is in our downstairs hallway taking up a lot of space (but is plugged in)
and I've actually been surprisingly OK the past 2 weeks it's been like this. I think it helps that we have the doorways from the kitchen to the rest of the house sealed so it's really separated from the rest of the house.
by the end of the weekend I'll have walls again, by the end of next week I'll have new floors, and then the cabinets are going in the weekend before Mother's Day
Here are some befores (from the building process) and afters from just before Christmas. Most of the pictures are taken from the eatin/dining area, the door on the left leads to the garage and is the laundry room, to the left is the sun room, directly behind me when I took them is the family room. Open concept. A few of the upgrades we went with when we built were the taller cabinets (neither of us can reach the top shelf...DH can barely reach the 2nd to top, I can't), the gas line to the stove, cabinet fronts, and recessed lighting. We have plans to add a tile backsplash, crown molding to the cabinets and possibly a trim to the bottom of the cabinets. I would also like like to add some under cabinet lighting
Our pantry is HUGE, I love it!
This is inside the island, all of the lower cabinets have the pull out shelves.
