I think part of it for me is also that I am really skeptical of her at this point. I don't see how anyone, can have a husband, three kids, a cooking blog, homeschool, run a ranch, photograph/edit, blog about all of it, and be doing it all themselves. I mean, just her recipes must take hours, when you are photographing it all, every step, typing it out, commenting on it, editing photos, etc. Do they have more hours in a day out there? It feels like there is a puppet master behind the scenes or that there is more "help" than there is made out to be (maybe this has been discussed on the blog, IDK, I can't read it anymore, it makes my brain hurt).
Your suspicions are ones I've seen crop up a lot, especially when the What's Cooking? ladies get started on PW (there's a lot of dislike for her over there, it seems). I can understand where you're coming from and totally get that she's not going to appeal to everyone. From my perspective, she may well have help, but I just don't care. I enjoy the vast majority of the content, so I keep reading. If she does it all herself, I have no idea how she manages and I bow down to her powers of time management.
I'm kind of with FIA - I enjoy PW but it's not entirely because of her - I love the recipes themselves (that's all I really read on her blog) and I don't particularly care if she created them or her best friend or her daughter or who is uploading them or what. I just like the recipes.
I do think its likely, given the incredibly popularity of the blog, that she is doing less and less work on it in certain areas, but I think that's natural. I don't think Rachael Ray does every aspect of her magazine herself, kwim? It doesn't make it less enjoyable for me. and I think Ree is pretty upfront about crediting people for recipes, for photographs, for blog posts, that kind of stuff. It's not one of those things where I'm all OMG she's not doing it herself, she's a lying liar! I think its fairly obvious she's not doing it all herself.
But the recipes are still awesome.
IDK, I do like some of her recipes(i thought that shrimp pasta everyone raves about was sort of blech, chocolate sheet cake, gooooood), and I actually like her sense of humor, most of the time. It's not that I don't like her. I just think it's the "front" that she has the ability to do all of these things with relatively little help, and does them so well. Even when she does give credit where due for, it seems very rare, though she is upfront about guest bloggers, and where recipes come from. IDK, it seems like just another way to make others feel shitty for not being superwoman.
I am weird. I know this.
...people who don't clean up after themselves.
...bathroom reading, I have never understood that either.
Although, I do understand my purchased dog, I respect why others don't believe in it though. Clearly from my weekend plans, we do a lot of activities together that we couldn't otherwise do.
-people who throw their cigarette buts out the car window.
-people who let their dogs bark outside the backdoor... PLEASE let them in! TY

I have never been a big follower of hers, but I have made a few things. I thought she'd been upfront that she does have help. I've read at least one blog entry where she refrerred to her assistant. I agree though, she does make it look like "hey, I can do it all" when you can't and there's no reason to.
Crocs.
Why people who are miserable being a parent & can't handle one child usually have more.
Throwing cigarettes out the car window.
Why people can't keep their bra straps hidden.
What is the big deal about George Clooney.
How people like my husband can eat canned tomato soup and think it tastes good.
Why my dog spins around in circles and goes through an elaborate ritual before doing his buisness.
Oh, and men. I don't understand men.
Mine are kinda random:
- why people hang or have bumper stickers of Confederate flags.
- Ditto with the throwing cigarettes out of car windows.
- what the big appeal is about Brad Pitt!
yours too? mine loves the stuff as well. ick.
As you know, I'm into adopting, but you went about it responsibly and I don't think anyone can fault you for that.
For mine, I will never understand how you can move and not take your pets with you. In addition to my 4 foster kittens and 3 resident cats, we now have 2 more who we got because their owner was going to put them outside because she "couldn't take them with her."
5 cats. 1 baby.
