Re: FU too Mother Nature!
I finally got around to uploading some pictures to FB last night.
Here is a sorta before and after of the kitchen. The kitchen is a lot cleaner now as the after picture was taken closer to the "during" stage rather than "after."
I really like the way it turned out. The kitchen feels a lot brighter and cleaner now.
OMG! That looks amazing! Is that the rental house? You guys have some serious talent/patience.
Seriously - your flip work is flippin' awesome D&M.
This weather just makes me laugh. I mean seriously, could this weather be more Michigan? 85 a week ago and inches of snow today. Typical.
But I'm thrilled to be escaping to NO in 4 days. :-)
Oops, yes, it is the rental. And thank you! I had such a fun time turning my vision into reality.
We started saving for our next one and hope to buy another one in 2-3 years. I can't wait to do it again.
Thank you.
I missed out on the 85 degree weather! It was about 65 in Boston when you guys were basking in the heat here.
YAY for NO!
It looks really nice. I would rent it if I could.
Great reno, D&M
Is it snowing in GR? I was there yesterday and it was fine...haha, that's Michigan!

How was the trip? And 65 seems like almost perfect weather anyways. :-)
It was meh. I worked on Saturday until 3:00 (yay money!), and then just kind of vegged. Sunday was church and I made a cake, and homemade pizza crust. Then we napped and....that was about it. A pretty low key weekend.
Nice work, D&MJ! The wall color is similar to my kitchen's wall color. I love seeing before and after pics!!
Friday I developed a head cold which was no fun. I didn't get as many things checked off the To Do List because I pretty much headachey and fatigued all weekend. We had a 5K race on Saturday afternoon (that I somehow managed to win despite feeling like poo). Andy went out with friends and their parents that came to town for the run on Saturday night and I stayed home to rest. Sunday we celebrated early Easter with my family and Jackson melted my face no less than 6,000 times.
It was awesome. We can't wait to go back. The east coast is so pretty and historical...loved it.
We didn't have enough time in Boston. We were there from 11:00 am Saturday until about 6:00 pm Sunday. While we did a lot (really, we did almost everything we wanted), we could have easily filled one more day.
The NH mountains were so gorgeous! But I did *zero* research for our trip. Nothing was open due to being there out of season, and they still had feet of snow. I didn't think about what we would do. So when we decided to go hiking, I was like
. Haha I didn't bring any hiking shoes or tennis shoes.
Even though there was a ton of snow, the air was suprisingly warm. I and my feet never felt cold.
Sabbaday Falls:
Boston:
Boston Common ^
Portland:
Littleton, NH
And funny story about this:
We decided to go try to find some falls up in the mountains. We used a feature on our GPS that located local tourist attractions. It was taking us on some crazy, non-maintained back roads. We get to this little river running through the road. I told H I think we should turn around because I don't want to get stuck. He said that he would floor it and we'd be fine. So he did. And we didn't get stuck. But we lost a chunk of our car. So finally he was convinced to turn around. He parked the car and got our to try to find the chunk of our car that hopefully did not get washed away by this river running over the road. Ha.
I took some pictures:
The long piece that trims out the bottom of the car underneath the doors is missing. ^
You can see the piece is still attached on this side. ^
Walk of shame, part I.
Walk of shame, part II. But he found it! Yay. And we found a body shop to rig it back on the car for $50. Boo. Oh well.
Overall, it was a great trip.
We loved what we saw. I think we decided that our next trip there will be split between Boston and Portland. Short drive and both great cities.
Oh, sweet Jesus, I was just talking to SIL on FB and she now has a new boyfriend who is apparently the best and sweetest guy in the history of the world. And she's sooooo into him and soooooo happy. And she really wants us to meet him because he's just so great.
Interestingly, that's almost exactly what she said about the last boyfriend who she got bored with after a few months.
Anyway, hi!
Des&Molly, the house looks awesome! And your vacation sounds very fun too.
We had a nice weekend. It was actually really relaxing, which is very rare. I loved the crappy weather because it meant I didn't have to go outside and do yardwork.
And we went to a birthday party on Saturday which was a lot of fun.
My parents and brother are converging on my house this weekend. It will be nice to see them. But in preparation for their visit, I have to find time this (busy) week to clean my house, meal plan, and go grocery shopping. And I also need to find a church for us to go to on Easter (my mom's request).
Grrr, that sounds a bit annoying to say the least.
I'm kind of a dork and tracking the Boston Maraton right now. :-) American Ryan Hall is in the lead, but it's still really early in the race. American Kara Goucher is losing speed in the women's race and is back to #12 at the moment.
Thanks!!
I loved your Boston pictures - i'm glad you guys had fun out there!
H gave me a pair of rollerblades for Christmas. I finally got around to exchanging them for the correct size this weekend. Yesterday, I busted them out and rollerbladed through my living room, diningroom, kitchen and entryway. I felt like I was about to get yelled at by my parents any minute. Hehe. Then I was like "Duh, this is your house, do what you want."
I totally left roller marks all over the place.
Thanks!
Everything new is scary and will make you nervous - the first day is always the most nervewracking. I'm sure it will be great - good luck!
Breaking in a new glove is the worst! Good luck.
Good luck on your first day!!
