Baby names - just for fun
Re: Baby names - just for fun
I like Elizabeth, obviously.
I love the name Charlotte and I think it suits your little family well. I like the MN Nichole or maybe Grace to go with it.
I also like the name Amelia. Haha.
For a boy, we were going to use Price Monroe. (both are family names - Price was Guy's dad's MN, and Monroe is Guy's MN.) I also wanted to use Nicholas, but Guy vetoed that since he has a cousin named Nicholas. I also like it when last names are used as first names, haha. Like Jackson, Smith, etc.
Me too! I've actually considered using my maiden name (Holland) for a girl. I don't know if Josh would go for that, plus it sort of doesn't flow well with our last name which starts with a D.

Our short list right now (which could change... we are waiting to meet the baby- yes we are weird) Its more of an excuse to not sit down and talk about it.
Boys- (were using the middle name Thomas after my father, however, we might use it as a first name if it fits) Landon, Wade, Porter are the tops- we loved Finn but with our last name it didnt work... We have two cats, Charlie and Jack which we love however, not naming baby after cat. Most of our favorites were taken by family members- Benjamin, Lucas etc.
Girls (this is where we struggle) - were planning on using Jane as a middle name since that is my middle name- right now top runners are Nora, Tracey (my moms name and we would love to use it however, it stirs some emotion in our family), Aubrey (Teen mom might ruin this for me), and Charlotte. We have packed the baby name books because it could be a game time decision.
Nora Jane would be super cute if it's a girl! Although Nora Lee sounds like one name when you say it out loud. "Noralee."
I like it! Holland your last name sounds good together, and you could call her Holly for short, which I love.
I agree, I think Holland is really cute. They say not to end a first name with the letter that starts the last name, but I think Holland sounds fine with your last name.
I wish I had a maiden name that would make a good first name. I have a coworker whose last name was Nolan, and if she'd had a boy instead of a girl, she was going to name him that. One of my good friends has the maiden name of Griffin, which would make a great boy's name too. I also have a friend whose maiden name was Finley and she considered it for her baby girl's name. All very cute, in my opinion.
I agree! Holland would be really cute, especially with Holly for a nickname!
I'm hoping to use my maiden name as a middle name. But Doug's already given me the side eye on it, so I need to work on him....or, just fill out the birth certificate without him present. Whichever works.

My thoughts exactly!
Haha. I understand. My stepmom's name is Juanita, so we're in the clear there. ;-)
I love the name Evelyn, but that's Robin's grandmother's name, and honestly we don't like her that much. It would be weird to "honor" her with a name, when we like our other grandmothers much more.
I can't recall if I've mentioned this before, but here's a girl's name I LOVE: Swan.
If I have a girl, I'd love to name her that. The problem is, my co-worker (one of my direct teammates) is named Swan, and it'd just be really weird if everyone thought I named a daughter after her.
Eh, it wasn't so much because of the Judgey McJudgersons (though I'd be lying if I said I didnt consider it), but more so that I wouldn't start second-guessing myself with our decision. That and I did enjoy keeping people guessing. Because I have a sick sense of humor like that *points to Kelly's ADITL

Jay and I are going to ahve problems when it comes to naming our kids. I want unique names that flow well into adulthood; Jay wan't family names and I want to steer clear of that to avoid hurt feelings. These are names I like...
Girls: Adelaide (Addy), Charlotte (Charlie), Evangeline (Eva), Felicity
Boys: Declan (one of my favs), Silas, Jackson (Jack), Jacob (Jake)
I know- that is where we STRUGGLE. I tell Mark all the time our last name blows.
A friend of mine's maiden name is Connelly and she named her Connelly and they call her Elly- its pretty unique and very cute!
No monogrammed burp cloths for anyone who keeps their baby name a secret!
Oh noz! However have I lived sans monogrammed burp cloths?!

I prefer it pronounced Deck-lan, but I know other people who pronounce it Deck-lin. I think if it was meant to be pronounced the other way it would have an "i" in stead of an "a" in it! We really do have similiar tastes, like how I love baby's nursery pictures on FB, so cute but you won't have to change it the minute he's to old for it or if you have a girl (if you plan on having another child at some point!).
I'm a fan of Silas too. Amos is another one I like.

I went to high school with a Declan... he pronounced it more like "Deck-len" ... of course, that could just be our accents screwing it up. But it IS an Irish name after all, and we're in Boston, so I don't think it's that far off...

As far as boy names, we're lost. Middle names from our families that I like are Rider (his mom's maiden name) , William and Michael. First names I like are Bennett and Elijah. Matt likes Landon. We can't seem to agree. I'm pulling for Bennett Rider the most.
I actually loved the name Olive for a girl but there's no way we can do that. But I also loved Olivia and now it sounds too close together.
I think Holland sounds great Rach! My maiden name (still my last name) wouldn't make a good first name.
I went to college with a kid named Blaze. His parents were fire fighters...and that's where his name came from. No joke. I give a side eye to that reasoning.
Random question:
No one would ever see the name Kyler and think it was pronounced "Killer" would they?!
I don't think so, I didn't anyway. As long as it's definitely a 'y' and not an 'i'. Maybe if you replaced the 'e' with an 'a' like in Sklyar it would be even further looking from killer.
