I know we have a lot of teachers and soon to be teachers on this board. Just curious how many we actually have, and what everyone teaches. (grade level, subject, etc.)
I am certified 6-12, in History/Social Studies and English/Language Arts. I am actually working through the U of I right now while finishing up my Masters of Education, because my last teaching position was cut last Spring. I just accepted another job for fall, which will be teaching 10-12 grade English.

Re: Teacher roll call
my read shelf:
Does being an Assistant Prof count?? I teach neuroscience & anatomy to medical students, physcian assistant students, PT students, & dental students & grad students.
I should say I am LEARNING how to teach those things. It's not as easy as it looks!! And I quickly learned that learning something to take a test is like 1/3 of how well you need to know it to teach it!!
I have a bunch of lectures this week. I can't believe how exhausting it is!! I hope that next fall, when I am giving these lectures for the second time, it will be easier.
I'm a former teacher. Certified 7-12 Math, have my MAT (MA in Teaching, it's like a practical version of an MEd) I used to teach HS math (Alg 1, Geom) and left for many reasons, the biggest being the administration @ my school and not being allowed to teach new courses (I was basically told, well you have 100% SOL pass rates, so you're going to teach these two classes forever b/c we need the test scores). I still coach over at the HS with the marching band and winterguard (competitive indoor guard).
I am now working on getting my MAIS in Higher Ed admin so I can be an academic advisor and (hopefully) teach Univ 100 courses where ever I get hired (hopefully where I am working/going to school right now)

Where were you in central PA? My DH went to school in the Harrisburg area, and I taught at Franklin-Regional (near Monroeville) when I was getting my BS and MAT at Pitt
I miss Pittsburgh lots and lots!
I'm one too! I teach 6th grade math....lots of fun! Next year will be my 9th year teaching, that makes me feel old!
