Friday Five

Let's do our 5 favorite things at the moment. Some of the things in our lives we just couldn't live without. Stick to consumer products-so your DH and dog don't really count on this one :)

I'll start:

1. iphone- couldn't live without it. Sad, but true.

2. Clarisonic-Yes Brianna, I'm an undercover sales rep ;) But no, I really do love it and I'm going on week 4 now and I can see a drastic improvement in my skin.

3. My YellowBox flip flops. Love love love them!

4. My "butt" jeans. God didn't bless me in that region, so I have to buy jeans that make me look like I have one. So sad. Obviously every pair of jeans I buy I try and make sure are flattering, but I have several pair that just really make me look like I have a nice booty and for those, I am thankful.

5. My e-ring and wedding ring. I don't leave the house without them, and even though I will be married a year in August, I still catch myself staring at them several times a day.

Your turn...ready...go!

Re: Friday Five

  • 1.My laptop: We used to only have a desktop and Matt and I used to battle over who would get to be online and when.  It was just annoying, life has been so much more simple since we both have a computer

2.My water bottles: I have a serious addiction to water bottles.  I probably ahve about 10 different ones scattered between work and home and buy a new one every couple months.  They all have to be at least 32oz and I prefer they are pink but thats not a requirement :)

3.Body by Victoria bras from VS:  I used to HATE all bras with a passion because usually if they had enough padding they werent comfortable and if they were comfy they didnt have enough padding.  The push up from VS is perfect...sorry if that was TMI

4.I have to agree with Summer on the wedding band and engagement ring.  While its much newer for me to have both of them they just make me so happy.  On that same note I have to add Matts wedding band in here.  There is something about him having a ring on now that makes me smiley everytime I see it.  I think part of it is because I have had a ring on my finger for 22 months and he hasnt.

5.I dont really have possession of them yet but our wedding pictures.  I still find myself looking at them on a daily basis because they just make me so darn happy.

  • BL- did you get your wedding band fixed from the HM?
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
  • No I didnt :(.  Its annoying but not super noticable and I just dont know where to take it.  I was not pleased with the issues we have had with Jareds but I dont want to pay an arm and a leg to have a little diamond replaced so I am just kind of at a stale mate right now.
  • 1.  My iPhone.  I use it when I'm waiting on Bill (which happens to be a lot), to find movie times, to respond to emails when I'm not going to be home until late, etc.  The only thing I hate?  The phone function.  I hate talking on the phone.  And my dad worked for AT&T!

    2.  My husband.  The other night, when I got home from the baseball game, he had a bottle of water sitting on the night stand for me.  He leaves the shower running for me when he gets out, he waters the girls every morning.  I'm just not sure when or how I became so dependent.

    3.  Our three TVs.  I spend more time in the "computer room" now.  I scrapbook in there so it doesn't have to be on our kitchen table, I type up school documents (it's easier on the PC than on the Mac due to some software differences).  It's not like I'm always watching as it's more just for noise than anything else.

    4.  The Time's Up game.  I play it with the students when it's a slow day.  It seems mindless and fun to them but they're still working on their communication skills, even if they don't realize it.

    5.  This may be too soon to tell but the iPad.  I think it will save my poor little iPhone from dying too soon.

I didn't know you had problems with Jared's. That's surprising. You don't think you could deal with them just to get the diamond replaced? I hate where we bought my rings. They've been nothing but problems, but I know I have to suck it up because they service them for free and nowhere else will- since we bought them there.

Julie- you cheated. I said no husbands. ;). Jk.

    Bobbileigh,

Have you tried going to a different Jared?  Bill originally started off at the one near Vista Ridge and they couldn't understand that the ring was supposed to be round.  Never mind the fact that, when I told the manager that they ruined Bill's proposal, he said, "Well, you still got the ring didn't you?"  I like to include that he was not wearing a wedding band.  We switched over to the one in Southlake and will now only go there to have jewelry talk.

    Summer,

Well, I'm special and I can do whatever I want.

We had my ering sized at Jareds and its tension set so they have to size it a little differently.  They diamond came loose 3 times in a little over a month and they warranty the sizing for 6 months but what if it comes loose after that?  I had the ring for a little over 2 years with no problems before they got their hands on it. I could suck it up and go to Jareds but I really dont want to give them more money when I wasnt satisfied with the work they did on my ering. We bought my ering and band from a local place in Omaha and they would have replaced the diamond for free but you have to bring it in for inspection every 6 months. There are no locations in TX so I would have to mail it back to them every 6 months for a cleaning which I am just not willing to do so the warranty is void.  Matt just wants to buy me a new ring so that if anything happens its covered but I am SO against that.

I also agree you cheated Julie.

  • Oh, fun!

    1.  The Navigation on my phone -   First off, I hate my phone.   I loved my Blackberry Tour and I switched to the Android and I just totally hate it.   The only reason I haven't re-activated the BB?   Navigation.  Seriously, it's the best thing ever.

    2.  My Wedding Rings and my TCU class ring.   Both make me happy and I feel naked without them. :)

    3.  My wedding album.   I look at it almost every day.

    4.  My new running shoes.   I've worn them everywhere possible since I bought them 2 weeks ago.   I've never, ever had shoes so comfortable.

    5.  Stole this from Bobbileigh, but totally the Body by Victoria bras.  They are the best, ever.

ETA:  Bobbileigh - Check out the Mom and Pop type jewelry stores.   My Mom had a diamond fall out of hers a few months ago and she took it to a small shop in my hometown and they fixed it for about $60, I think.

  • 1. My new one is facials.  I'm addicted.  They are going to be a regular thing for me now.

    2.  It's been over a year and I still look at my E-ring/wedding band--and I still haven't stopped "checking" throughout the day to make sure they are still there.  I even do it in my sleep.

    3.  Email.  It's how I do everything.

    4.  Facebook.   This is how I keep up with everyone and everything.  I have learned so many things about my friends and family's jobs, kids, etc.

    5.  I'm with Bobbieleigh on the water bottles.  I don't leave anywhere without one. I keep one in the car and by my bedside also.

  • Oh, sorry Julie I didn't know you were the exception. ;)

  • Thanks Tiffany, I might do some googling and calling around this weekend.
  • BL- I also suggest small family owned places like Tiffany.

    Hopefully you find someplace!

  • 1.  My Burt's Bees lip balm.  Can't live without this.  It has to be on me at all times (or at least I need to know where it is at) otherwise dry lips annoy me.  And I may have an addiction.

    2. Briannas' Poppy seed salad dressing

    3. Gillette Power razor- if you've gone a week or two without shaving your legs, this thing only takes one swipe to get rid of the hair instead of going over it a few times.

    4.  Razorback Red Grape Wine.  Technically I can live without this as I have not had any since last summer but it is one of my favorite things.

    5. Rolls from Black Eyed Pea or these rolls/swirls.

  • Bobbi - We have an excellent mom and pop jewelry store near us. We had DH's ring restored there (it was his grandad's) and they did a great job. I think it is too far for you, but just in case you don't find something else - Collections Fine Jewelry in Saginaw.

    1. Iphone. Love it for boredom, for supporting my never-ending need to Google everything, just all aroud love it.

    2. Brooks Trance 10 running shoes. They have changed my running life for the better and I would not be able to run as long/far without them.

    3. Chick-Fil-A Berry Balsamic Vinaigrette  - This dressing has changed my relationship with salad. I am to the point now where the waffle fries do not even appeal since it means I will miss out on the dressing.

    4. Lime Green Ford Fiesta - I LOVE my car. Commuting is no big deal and driving is a joy. 40-42 MPG with gas prices like they are doesn't suck too much either.

    5. DVR - I am never home to watch shows when they are actually on. I love being able to sit down on a Saturday and just veg out with all of the shows from the week.

  • 1.  My Clarisonic.  My skin has never looked better.  It is firmer, smoother and break out free.  I also notice that my sunspot is less noticeable.

    2.  My T3 hair dryer.  I haven't used my Chi hair straightener in over a year and I owe it all to the T3.

    3. My new Merona sandals from Target.  They were cheap, they are comfy and they go with everything.  Perfect summer sandals.

    4. FB (even though I hate to admit it).  It is a great way to "keep up" with people you care about.

    5. Country music.  There is some great stuff out right now!

LOVE them!  This is where my e-ring, wedding band and DH's band are from.  Great customer service.

I know! My DH wanted to wear his grandad's ring, the only problem was that it was so dirty. Normally you could just have it re-dipped but DH wanted to keep both the inscriptions inside and a welding mark on the ring. His grandad was a welder and hit the ring with a torch once and it marked it. We also needed it sized. Collections made the ring look brand new and kept everything just as we asked.

  • 1.  Chapstick.  I'm seriously addicted... I have it on my car keychain, and I am not one of those people with everything in the world on there.  Keyless entry for the car, the ignition key, the house key, and chapstick.  I also have some on my bedside table and my desk at work, and in a little organizer thing that lives on the coffee table... basically I keep it within reach of anywhere I'm likely to be for more than 10 minutes.

    2.  My tempurpedic pillow.  Seriously.  This thing goes everywhere with me - I've been known to pack an extra suitcase when flying just so I can bring it.  I sleep so much better with it.  I used to have tension headaches alot that started with how I slept (or maybe how I slept just aggravated them, idk) but this thing has really changed my life.  It's probably 4 years old, and worth every penny I paid for it.

    3.  My laptop... I really enjoy just piddling around online in the evenings, even while watching shows that I like - I like listening to the shows more than watching, because I'm a little weird like that.

    4. My rings - they're put together, so it's basically just one.  I stare at it a lot, and always check to make sure it's still there with my thumb.  I just love it.

    5.  Bread.  I love bread.  Sandwiches on yummy bread, sweet rolls like cinnamon, pillsbury crescents, biscuits... bread just makes every meal better.  And I like it for snacks, too haha

Ummm, yeah I am.  Plus, I didn't read that part.  But seriously, I think you girls are just jealous because Bill gets me water.

  • Well I'll jump on the bandwagon with some of you ladies! :~)

    1.  My e-ring and wedding ring - I'm in love and it makes me incredibly happy knowing what they symbolize.  It's so weird yet so awesome to see my rings as a set.  I can't imagine leaving the house without them.

    2.  Blistex chapstick - This is my current favorite chapstick, but like Angie I have a tube of some form of chapstick everywhere.  Easily accesible and yes I'm totally addicted!

    3.  Coffee and flavored creamer - It's a must, can't live without, drink for me.  I have to have one cup of coffee everyday.  I'm not sure if that means I'm addicted or what!

    4.  Yellow Box Flip Flops - I LOVE flip flops.  If I could wear flip flops daily I would!  For some reason this brand is like heaven to my feet!

    5.  Facebook - Well I hate to admit it too, but I love this form of communication.  Email stacks up pretty high against FB.  I love keeping up with my mom this way, especially since she lives 5 hours from me.  We talk almost daily, but I know she can check out my pictures and such there since it will be months before I see her again.

Ha I know I totally am.  I can be getting ready for bed and think crap I have to go get my water.  If only my DH would think about it while he is still in there shutting house down, that would be nice.  Oh well.

  • For all you Yellow Box flip floppers, definitely try the Sanuk Yoga Mat flip flops if you see them somewhere.

I got them as a gift last year and they are like heaven for my feet.

That's why he does it!  He would be turning off all the lights, etc, and I'd just yell "Oh, yeah, I forgot my water!"  Unfortunately, I can't get him to tighten a cap on anything.

  • 1. Flip flops for sure - I would wear them everywhere if I could!

    2. Our pool - in the summers we have a pool party every weekend and I love it!! ....even though of our staining/spotting issues.

    3. Vintage home stuff - loving finishing our house and while I never was before I am a huge fan of vintage stuff so mixing the new and old.

    4. Ering/wedding ring - I also check my finger multiple times a day

    5. The is a joint love hate - wedding season and the gym....love them both but one is expensive and two is a drag until I get there :)

  • Okay, I'm stealing some of your responses:

    1. The Internet.

    2. Facebook

    3. My phone - but only because it has the Internet on it and a FB app.   Like Tiffany I recently switched from a blackberry to the Android.  I really miss my blackberry and I do like the idea of an Android (Android market, etc.), I just HATE my particular phone.

    4. My clarisonic.  I actually like to wash my face now.  It's crazy.

    5. Green tea.  My new addiction.  I actually carry a few tea bags in my purse.  I have no idea why - just in case, I guess.  Ha.

  • 1. My Kindle and the Kindle app on my phone and work PC. I read a lot and reading on the Kindle is so much easier than lugging around a heavy book, and I love that I can read my book on my phone or my computer at work if I don't have my Kindle with me.  It's awesome.

    2. My new car. We bought a Murano last month. It's my first new car ever and I love it! My car was 11 years old, so having a new car with all the bells and whistles is really cool. I also got fun patterened sunshades for the winshield and they make me smile every time I walk up to my car.

    3. Cuties brand Clementines. I eat 3-4 a day.  Love them

    4. Colorscience powder sunscreen. It comes in an applicator with a brush, so you can just brush it on over your makeup if you're going to be in the sun, and it's not sticky or greasy.

    5. Bra top dresses from Victorias Secret. My favorite thing to wear in the summer, no bra required and they can be tossed in the wash.

  • Amanda- I have never found a more comfortable brand of flip flop ever. And it helps they are ADORABLE. I love the blinged out flip flops :)

  • I may need to buy a Clairesonic and I am going to have to google these flip flops as I have never heard of them.
