Re: Highs and lows.

  • High:  All of my good stuff is coming up this weekend.  It'll be a busy weekend but I'm so excited for everything that is happening!  One of the best parts is that we're going to dogsit PattyMcTatty's dog Rusty!!!!  FUN!!!  :-)

Low:  Happened this morning.  I had to do a fasting blood draw to check my thyroid and glucose levels.  I don't do well with blood draws to begin with so being tired, hungry, nervous etc. = I almost passed out.  Things got really fuzzy and my ears starting ringing so I sat down in a hurry!!  I ended up sitting in the lab waiting room for awhile.  It was bad.  BUT then I treated myself with a caramel latte and now all is good.  :-)

  • High: My nephew came home less than a week after having brain surgery - two sugeries, actually - the last one was minimal to remove the  stuck drain.  He's still weak, but HE'S HOME!!  I haven't spoken to my sister because I wanted to give her time with just her family, but I know she is soooo happy that everything went smoothly. Ever since her other son died, she has a horrible fear/anxiety about the hospital (even drives a different route so she doesn't have to pass it) and I know it must have been painful to be back there all week. But he's home and from all reports, doing really well! Yay!

Another BIG high:  I've been wildly productive in getting our condo ready to sell. Clearing lots of clutter (into storage unit), replacing closet doors, getting ready to redo the kitchen floor and update range - LOTS of other things. It is amazing and I feel so proud of myself!! DH won't recognize the place when he gets back on Sunday!

Low: I haven't been sleeping well. I just can't seem to shut off my mind, even though my body is exhausted - except for the weekends when I stay up so late doing house stuff I am a zombie  - but can sleep in the next morning, During the week, I can't seem to fall asleep (up until after 3 am last night!) and have been averaging less than 4 hours sleep a night for the past few weeks. It is getting really frustrating but I don't want to take sleeping pills since the one time I did try that I had a horrible reaction - and still didn't sleep!

I've gone through periods of insomnia in the past and it usually lasts for a few weeks and then goes away. I'm hoping that is the case this time.

I started doing meditation before bed and that has helped tremendously with sleep.  At first I listened to some podcasts which helped me chill out and then I learned to do it on my own.

Hope you get some good zzzzzzzz's soon!!

  • High: We close on our house in TWO days!!! A big high for us! :)

Low: My allergies started yesterday and it isn't even nice out. I feel like the rain and crummy weather make me feel more miserable.

Thanks! I've been taking melatonin and that helped for a while - but not soo much anymore. I should maybe up the dosage . . .  I think I've been so consumed and busy with all the condo/selling stuff that I am constantly making lists, researching, packing, etc and I don't give myself time to "come down" after all that.

Meditation is a good idea - I should give a try. In college I "trained" myself to listen to a Russian Orthodox chanting CD when I went to bed and that really helped calm me and put me in sleep-mode.

  • High - we closed on our mortgage refinance which will save us some money.

Low - I'm just all around grumpy this week. PMS has something to do with it plus it is just plain yuck outside too which doesn't help.  I have some stuff I want to do outside and I can't because we've got "wintry mix" out there.

  • High: Our master bedroom & bathroom remodel is nearing completion.  We have sheetrock and it's so great to see it looking like actual rooms.

Low: I've been feeling icky the past few days.  Not bad enough to say I'm sick, but just enough to feel off most of the time.   Also, H has been working crazy hours the last month or so and I'm so tired of it.  I know he is sick of it as well, but he doesn't even see DS most days other than a couple minutes in the morning and (maybe) a few at night.  The days get very long when you're home with constant construction noise and an 8 month old and a dog.  Ugh.  I just keep telling myself that all of this is short-term and will be over soon.

I'm the same way and am so glad you didn't pass out.  This actually happened to me and let me tell you that it is not cool to pass out during a blood draw.  I have learned to close my eyes and half the time I make them put me in the recliner or bed so I can't pass out.   Hope you're feeling better and have eaten something.

  • High 1: Due to the crappy weather, DH's track meet and practice were cancelled yesterday and today so he gets to stay home with us all day.

High 2: I'm taking a break from my unpaid job as a therapist to re-evaluate my career goals. I'm still really struggling to find my niche in this career field, and want to take a break before I get in too deep and feel forced into licensure. Thankfully my supervisor is awesome and will allow me to take a break but still have a place at the office in whatever capacity I want.

Low: We still have no answers from the endocrinologist regarding Samuel's labs and possible CAH diagnosis.

  • High: My dad is scheduled to come home from the hospital on Saturday. He hasn't been home permanently since the first week of January. Also, he had an MRI last week on his brian (they found a tumor back in Jan and has been having chemo for the last month) and the tumor is not there! He still has a long way to go and about 11 months of chemo left, but this is a great first step.

Another high: We had tickets to the Twins game for yesterday and thankfully it got rained out. We are going to the rescheduled game tomorrow night and we decided to take Fri off work. Yay for a 3-day weekend and I get to watch some of the wedding coverage (will not be getting up at 4am)

Low: The weather. I seriously think it's been affecting my mood. I need sunshine!

  • High:  I'm finally back at work!  As pathetic as that sounds I was out all last week with pneumonia and could barely move off the couch.  Now hopefully next week will bring me back into the gym!  and my second is that today is little Nick's 3rd birthday!!  He is our little friend with Alexander's Disease.  The fact he has made it to 3 years old is a miracle in itself!!!

Low:  we found out DH may need surgery.  soon.  He screwed up his rotator cuff on his right shoulder and is in pure agony. He has been to pt daily for the last month, but can't take time off his job (he moves pianos for a living) so it's basically all been useless.  :(  It's not the worst thing that can happen, but it sucks.

  • High: I've been cleared by both sports docs I'm working with to get back to full-on half marathon training now that I'm in rehab stage for my injury. Just saw one of them this morning and she was so impressed by how well my body has been adapting with the PT and cross-training and rehab running work I've been doing. She gave me a glowing report! A month ago I was in tears in her office thinking I'd never run again, and it definitely was looking that way once I got my MRI results back and they weren't good.

Low: I honestly feel like I'm just sharing a house with my husband. He's pre-med at the U of M, working full-time at the hospital, on-call most nights at the hospital, and volunteering at HCMC in the emergency dept on weekends. That, combined with my work schedule, means 2 weeks can go by where we don't see each other for maybe 20 minutes a day. I'm really starting to have a very hard time with this and not sure how to handle it. I'm doing my best to be supportive, but if I'm not working, I find myself very alone all the time. Huge bummer around here right now. He was at work from 11AM yesterday till 2AM this morning.

  • High: Our bedroom is almost done being decorated. I just need to wash the new duvet, clean, vacuum and get some new artwork and then it will be finished.

Low: The old washing machine crashed and burned. Sears was helpful though so they're delivering the new one on Thursday.

One more Low: I keep thinking that it's one day ahead of what it really is. I woke up this morning thinking it was already Thursday.

  • High: We had a great, relaxing day on Sunday with family, eating outside, enjoying the sun. I love days like that!

Low: Yesterday.. ugh. Jenson escaped his kennel and also let Chloe out of hers between lunch when Joe went home (12:30) and 3:30 when we both got home from work. We intended to make a quick stop - let the dogs out to use the bathroom and then head back out because we were attending a happy hour for Joe's last week at his job. We got home and both dogs greeted us in the kitchen. They made a huge mess in the house - ripped to shreds a bunch of food I had set aside to drop off at the food shelf (promo products from work - hamburger helper, good earth boxed dinners, other dry pasta, peanut butter, disposable razors..) and pooped 3 times inside the house - one of those times on our bed. :( They seemed fine though, so we cleaned up after them, let them go to the bathroom and then super-secured Jenson's kennel (again). When we got home after happy hour, they were not fine at all - I thought that Jenson had bloat because he looked pregnant. He didn't have the typical boxer shape - his rib cage/stomach dip area was completely gone. We rushed both dogs to the e-vet. It ends up that they got into their dog food and after the vet induced vomiting, they each threw up 4 pounds of dog food. $500 later, we had to wake up to walk them every 2 hours last night so that their bowels would keep moving the rest of the food through. Thankfully they didn't swallow any of the disposable razors or the other food items, but they were in pretty sad shape. I'm exhausted and at my wits end today.

  • High: My dad is retiring today! He has been putting up with some BS at work and was really getting to his wits end. He has worked so hard to provide our family with all the essentials and then some (all 4 kids got our own cars growing up, went to college and are all married with the help of our wonderful parents). I am just so excited for him.

Low: I woke up this morning with a horrible cold, headache and sore throat. On top of that I had to get 9 viles of blood drawn at the doctor so now I am sleepy too. I don't want to be at work, I just want to crawl back in bed.

OMG. I'm glad they're ok and they didn't get into anything more. But.. ouch on all accounts. Ouch for Chloe & Jenson, ouch for your stress levels and ouch to your checkbook!

I hope they're feeling better today and I hope you and Joe can get to bed early or take a nap today. Eek.

High: My DH has a leader assesment today for a job he's interviewing for tomorrow. It's an internal job, a huge promotion and overall he feels pretty confident. He has two, one-hour interviews tomorrow and he knows who he is interviewing with and he has a really good working relationship with all of them.

Low: The two other people that applied for this same position, are the only people in his department that he sees as competition. So basically, everyone who applied would be a really good fit for the job. It's really going to be a tough call for the interviewers and I think all the applicants are feeling a little stress.

Also, this morning sucked. I woke up late, didn't realize we needed gas on the way to work, my gas light went on right as I was dropping DH off, a semi pulled out in front of us and I'm glad we were both paying attention or we would have been killed, no doubt about it. So...all of that just set me off for a really cranky morning. Once I got my coffee though, I was all good.

  • I am pretty much a lurker, but thought I would play today.

High- enjoyed a nice evening at Minnehaha Falls and Sea Salt on Monday night.

Low- pretty much on bed rest right now until further tests for Pre-E No  Having a little pity party.

  • High: My Grandma flew in yesterday and is now a permanent resident of MN. I'm SO happy to have her back.

Low: LO has been teething and SOOO crabby. This has been going on for weeks and I am at my wits end.

  • High:  my business was featured on Fox 9 morning buzz yesterday AND I didn't even have to appear on tv!

Low:  DS found a can of spray sunscreen and sprayed it all over my house before I woke up this morning - took the furnish off my wood floor, which I guess is okay since last week he pulled a belt sander around my living room by the cord so there's some damage from that.  2 year old able to climb out of crib + sleepy mommy = disaster.

Yes! I totally will! I'm super excited! Next on my list is a new headboard, I was thinking about going to West Elm later in May (darn budgets!). This weekend my goal is to get a few antique frames that I can either leave OR spraypaint some fun colors to get more art framed. EEP! I can't wait!

  • Low: Carly was sick Sat-Tuesday. Sad I was home with her on Monday and Tuesday, so today is my first day at work this week, and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed.

High: Since I was home I got lots of stuff done around the house, most importantly all the laundry!

I'll send you some pics too.  I always like it when people share what they have done to their home, so feel free to share Patty.  :)

If I come to the gtg, I'll show you what is done so far.  I'm still a maybe though due to H's crazy work schedule.

  • High:  I got a "B" on my test today!  After totally blowing the last test, I was a touch nervous, although I studied my butt off.  (Keeping in mind that blowing it in nursing school is less than a 80%).  Which means that for finals in a couple weeks I will go into the test knowing I can get a 60% on the final and still pass the class...yeah!  And, we get new carpet on Friday!

Yes, a strange way to look at it, but I need to pass to be on schedule to graduate in December.

Low:  My H has brought more computers home to fix and is now taking up too much of our already small house.  Busting at the seams over here.  Speaking of busting - I went to the gym today for the first time in forever and I'm out of shape.

Edit:  We also found out that my SIL will be expecting a little girl this fall!  (That should be my true high, I love being an aunt).

  • High -Had a really good work review (my first here). And DH got the promotion he has already been doing the job for.

Low - As I walked thru the skyway my mile to work this morning, my too tight skirt hoisted itself all the way up around my middle and turned around backwards. Thank god I was wearing a longer jacket that I held down in place, so I hope no one really noticed it. Now I've been holding my breath all day until I can take this stupid suit off. Guess I should work out tonight.

  • High:  DH had a good 2nd phone interview this week.  It would be somewhat of a lateral move as far as status and pay, but it would be daytime hours and probably benefits.  I am so excited at the prospect of not having to put the boys to bed every night by myself.

Low:  We had to take the baby to the ER Easter night because he was having a hard time breathing.  He had croup and a bad ear infection.  He's feeling much better now, but it was pretty scary.

  • High: I actually started unpacking stuff again after moving in. It's been three months, the place is a disaster still (literally not one room done. even the kitchen!) I think that's been getting me down, so it felt good to just take the time to make some real progress.

Low: This sounds weird, but my boss got fired a week ago. I was so dumb I didn't even know what was going on.  I guess I haven't gotten into the flow of things yet. Either way, people are really on edge and a little nervous about the future. Plus, the guy hired me on a job and gave me a chance on something new. I feel bad for him.

Low #2: My sister is badgering me to 1) pitch in money for the house she, my mom, and my brother live in. She only lives there so she can help pay the mortgage on it or she'd have her own place. bro is a deadbeat.  2) she also wants to go on a vacation with me and mom this summer and 3) come visit me at my new apartment,  I know most of this should be a high, b/c my sister wants to work on our relationship. Still, it's all overwhelming and exhausting me. I think I'm taking it out on DH b/c he gets frustrated when I talk about it.  Whew. That kind of felt good.  Stick out tongue

  • High...I was pretty proud of myself for the yummy meal I made on Sunday.  In addition, I started the couch to 5k program last week and I am feeling good so far.  I am even losing weight, which is awesome.

Low: As always, my job frustrates me.
