NFL Draft

Is it just me or did Nick Fairley look less than thrilled to be drafted by the Lions?  He was glued to his phone pretty much the entire time.  But I suppose who WOULD want to be drafted by the Lions right?

Re: NFL Draft

  • I asked DH the same question, and his reply was they are happy to be drafted even if it's by a crappy team. He insisted that Fairley was just keeping a serious face, and probably concentrating on the phone call/details.

I see both sides, I guess.

  • I know, being drafted is being drafted but you would think they would hope a good team would want them so they could actually have Super Bowl dreams.  Who knows - they actually improved last year so maybe this year they'll be worth cheering for?

  • I could be wrong, but I heard that most of the player already know ahead of time who is going to draft them.

  • I think players are just excited to be picked up in the first round that they could care less where they go.  If you're a first round pick being drafted by a crappy team, there's a better chance of becoming a starter than if you're picked up by a team who is already established.  Figure the #1 draft pick goes to the team with the worst record- you don't often hear players complaining about being the #1 pick.  Not to mention, teams always trade players, so there's always a chance of being picked up by a better team.
