I feel like some people (on FB especially) are putting their noses in the air and saying that they don't care about the wedding.  I can't help but wonder if these people also hate puppies and rainbows.  And, I mean, c'mon, it's so rare in history that a wedding like this takes place.

Well I guess you can put me down as a puppy hater then because I thought the hoopla was so so so overdone.  I get that it is historical but I don't think it warranted AS much coverage and attention as it got.  I wanted to see her gown but that is honestly the only thing I was even remotely curious about.  I'm happy that two apparently stand up people found love but I just don't feel the need to obsess over it.  I'm certainly not going to think less of people who are all swept up in it and I would expect that the swept up people could feel the same for me.  Wink

I agree that the hoopla was over the top and as someone who is not obsessed, I just love a good wedding, that's all.

  • With all of the sad and terrible things going on in the world, it was nice to have something to celebrate and have a big party. They have been together for years and truly seem to be in love. I got warm fuzzies from it. I do agree with PP who only liked the top half of her dress, but I also admit it was a timeless look. I expected her to wear her hair up, but she looked great.

  • I got up at 5:30 and watched. It was already pretty far into the ceremony when I turned the TV on but I dvr'd it. :)  I've been to Westminster Abbey and it brought back so many awesome memories of my trip to see that church and all of those London sites shown on TV. It was quite an amazing wedding, I'm glad I watched!
  • I have a few friends on facebook and twitter who are being ridiculous about how the RW isn't "real news" and there is no reason the news media needs to be covering it 24/7.

I am a bit baffled by this - as I listen to MPR on my way to & from work, and we have CNN on in our lobby all day, and although coverage of the wedding on CNN was heavy right away in the morning (when the wedding ceremony took place) they broke away for other stories until they arrived at the palace, and then after the kiss on the balcony, CNN moved to other stories again. I didn't hear more than 1 minute of RW talk on my drive to work.

I think the RW had a lot of coverage, but I hardly feel it's the only thing the news media was reporting today - so I don't know what these people are talking about! Of course the RW is a bit of fluff news - but it's all in moderation. I thought that NPR and CNN did a great job balancing the fun, festive wedding (we all could use more to be happy about in this sad world!) and the serious news stories of the day. All I've got to say is that haters are gonna hate. :P

That said - her dresses were gorgeous. The fabric looked like frosting it was so luxuriously smooth. McQueen was a fantastic, patriotic choice. Her earrings were beautiful - I love that they include her family crest. http://fashionetc.com/news/celebrity/1686-kate-middleton-royal-wedding-earrings-robinson-pelham-jewellers
