Gone with the Wind

Has anyone read the book?

I'm reading it right now, and it is amazing. It is so well written.

I have never seen the movie and don't know if I intend to or not- it's over 1000 pages, I just don't know how all that goodness could be represented in a movie.

Re: Gone with the Wind

  • I've read it several times and obviously love it. First read it in junior high. Despised the movie. It wasn't normal length, so they fit a lot more than you'd think, but they turned Scarlett from a strong survivor into a flat out b!tch.
  • I watched most of the movie with my mom once...wasn't that impressed, so never read the book. Guess I'll read it now! :)

That's the main reason I don't want to watch it- I cannot handle other people's interpretations.

  • Yeah, I get pissy about that too. If I care less about the book, the movie doesn't bother me quite as much, though.
  • the book is amazing! definitely one of my favorites! when you're done, find the sequel, written by another author, called Scarlet. it continues where GWTW leaves off.

i loved the movie, but it doesn't come close to the book (as is usually the case)

  • Umm....I think I read the book in high school.  It sounds so familiar.  I think I'm going to have to re read it!!
