We couldn't remember last night who had the next one, is it Rai?
Re: May Book Club?
I would offer to take it, but I'm going to be on baby watch near the end of the month, and I don't want to have to cancel.
Though I can host in July, or wherever we stopped planning.
If we're going to start picking months again, should we keep going with the genre's too? Or just have the host pick any book they want? We've had seriously great choices so far so I could go either way...though it does help to have a genre to narrow your choices, and it gives us diversity.
WDYT?
I'd love to do a fantasy one in a few months. Need to get into the house first.
I'd love to do alternative history to make everyone read my favorite book. muahahaha. hehe
But it's kind of fantasyish too, so.. I could find a different book in the same genre if we're already doing fantasy.. Orrrrr some other genre...
And I won't use Time magazine reviews as a jumping off point.
Prentice Alvin?
your limited nesting lately has taken it's toll, i see
ITA with you, I never would have picked up Dark Places or Rebecca, especially, on my own. And loved them!
I'd like to sign up for October, if that's okay with everyone, because once maternity leave is over and JJ's in season, IDK if I'll be able to commit to Nov and on.
ETA: I'll take whatever genre no one calls dibs on!
ETA2: I'll call dibs on Mythology, I think I just found a book that looks interesting.
Yep! Seventh Son
Awesome choice. That's more historical fantasy and I was going to go a different direction with my fantasy pick/suggestions so we could definitely do both! That is, if everyone else is up for it, LOL.
Does the 1st Monday of the month still work for everyone?
If Rai can't do May, Britt you can just keep June 6 (1st Monday of June) if that's ok, the Monday before is Memorial Day.
I'll have to see what would work for July -- I may need to switch to August. The first monday is the 4th, and I think the week after that I'm house-sitting.
Oh, and I could do a science/nonfiction book too. I've been meaning to read The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks for a while.
Ok, so here's what I have so far, and if Rai wants to keep May 23, we can adjust if necessary:
June 6 - Brittjoy/Horror
July 11 - Lucky?/Fantasy
August 8 - Jenhappy/Alternative History
September 12 - Sikes/genre?
October 3 - Ashlee/Mythology
November 7 -
December 5 - LB/Mystery-Thriller
Works for me!
Okay I'm going with it. I was just trying to think of something that wasn't on the list already. I'll wait until tomorrow to hear back from Rai and then I'll post a poll for the next book if it's my turn.
I'm so sorry I've been MIA, ladies! Life has been a little crazy and I don't have a computer at work.
I am still interested in hosting in May (Childbirth class has interfered with my attending the last few), and I'm trying to think of a book as we speak. I have it narrowed down, but it's so hard to choose a classic lit piece without feeling like an english teacher. I should have a choice by the end of the night.
Oh, I see what you mean. Has it always been the first Monday? I thought it was the last. Or are we changing it? I am so very confused. I hate to do May 23 if we are also doing June 6th, it doesn't give people much time...Maybe we'll skip May and I can do November? Or does that make me flaky?
