Re: Say Anything!
Well... I will start by saying that he flies standby... and that's how they all got out there. When he checked the flights before they left, they looked wide open. BIG MISTAKE.
They went down the Wednesday before the wedding, supposed to return Friday evening (my wedding was on a Sunday). Well, Andrew checked the flights that Friday morning and started to panic because they had booked up and even oversold. They went to the airport and spent the whole day on Friday there, because there was a small chance they would get on.
Well, they didn't get on. He checked flights to see how much it would cost to fly on a different airlines... the tickets were $900!!!
So, my DH and 3 of his 5 groomsmen are now stuck in Las Vegas Airport... scrambling. Andrew decided that they were going to rent a car and drive, because that was the only option at this point without spending 1k and still getting back in time, so they left Vegas airport at 9 pm on Friday.
I wasn't informed they were driving until they were 3 hours into their trip home when he called and asked if I had checked Facebook (because one of his groomsmen posted about it). I hadn't, and he proceeded to tell me what he was doing and how sorry he was. I told him that I didn't care as long as he was back in time for the rehearsal dinner the next day.
Welllllll, everyone was dressed and ready for our 6 pm rehearsal dinner around 4:30. At 4:45, the guys walked in the door from the drive... none of them had slept and 4 grown men had just driven across the country in a Chevy Cruise (not a very big car). They hadn't shower, hadn't slept, and they were GRUMPY.
We went to the rehearsal dinner and the rehearsal, and all of the guys went STRAIGHT to bed after that.
Cue 'The Hangover jokes'....

This is the longest week ever!
Julie - Who would want a date night at a HS Prom?!? I mean do dinner before or after if you want to do something while you are dressed up for goodness sakes.
Brianna - uh, no, you did not tell us about Andrew reliving "The Hangover". Spill it!

Brianna,
If it doesn't involve a baby named Carlos and a tiger, then it just isn't going to be as funny. :-D
And when I said, we need extra room sometimes, I mean that we might need it if Lacy ever needs me to babysit her kids.
Cursed standby flying!!
LOL, I bet they have some good memories from that looking back, though.
There was one teacher last year who begged me to let her come with her husband because it would be a fun date night. I told her I could only do it for her since we weren't at breaking even then (I was going to pay for Bill to come up until a few days before when my bookkeeper told me it should be fine). I had another this year who wanted to come since it's their first anniversary and she wanted to leave at 10 PM. I told her I needed her to stay until at least 11 PM.
They made Hangover references the whole trip.. up to and including pictures standing by a pay phone bank, carrying around a stuffed tiger, and taking pictures an "Alan" impersonator.
Which, in hindsight, turned out to be foreshadowing.

This. Some of my best memories have come out of stressful or crazy things that didnt go according to plan. That sucks that you had to go through that especially at a time that is so stressful already. Glad he made it back though!
Speaking of cars, I was driving behind this Mercedes sports car when I went home yesterday and I had never seen anything like it. I remembered the model name and went home and googled it.
Yeah, it is a half million dollar car. Um, whoa.
Thanks Ladies, I made a list of all your recs.
Looks like we are test driving cars this weekend.
Brianna - oh wow. That's a really good story.
Sara - why does work suck?
Laura (I think): I would never read a Western. Note to book club peeps, please don't ever choose a western.
Is your H a pilot? I was just asking because of the whole flying standby thing. Mine is a pilot too if so!
But would you be happier if you worked there?
I wanted to go check out the book for the book club from the library, but it looks like somebody already beat me to it! :-(
Oh actually they have it in the large print edition....I guess I will have to go with that! No one make fun of me for it though :-p

Meh - no, he's on the ramp!
Tiffany - why do you need an AE?

Why?
Frustrated about something that could get found.
Maybe you should FB message us.
Possibly. I know someone over there so I'm going to see if he knows anything about who I would be under. It's just several steps down from my current position (and I would be super bored) so that is what holds me up. We will see!
I second this.
Let me count the ways! 12 hours days, computer crashed and fried over the weekend (I drove in Sunday to work instead found a dead computer), unhelpful and absent coworker, working weekends.
Sorry to whine. With luck, this project ends on Friday night and I will be a free woman. I am so ready to have my evenings and weekends back, be able to contribute here again during the day, blog again, sleep and not dream about work.
But on a positive note...my BSC neighbor sold her house!!!!
I third this! If that even makes sense! :-p

Whoa, it's only 10:20 and I missed a lot!
Brianna, I can't believe you never told us that story, that is crazy!
Lacey, DO NOT but a Suzuki Aerio. Ours has been the biggest pain in our sides ever.
Re: Pens. I developed tendonitis in my writing hand in graduate school (a side effect of this education that has gotten me nowhere yet), and the doctor told me that gel pens are best for your hands because ball point require more pressure, so that's all I use now.
Lacey, we are car shopping also. I'm ready to go test drive some cars and narrow my choices so we can decide what we are going to buy. Right now #1 on my list is a Mazda CX-7. I love the way they look and DH's Mazda has been a great car so hopefully I'll like the way it drives. If that doesn't work out not sure what else we will get. My dad is a huge car nerd and he has said great things about the Kia Optima and the Sonata. If we were getting a new car it would probably be one of these but we are looking for a used car right now.
I can't believe it's only Wednesday. Why is this week dragging???
Anna, there are so many stories that I haven't told... I guess I just got back into the swing of things and forgot!
I also forgot to take any panties on the wedding day. I had to make an emergency stop for some, or the garter pull wasn't happening!

Those are very nice Dana. This was a few years ago but the one we test drove had this alert system in the mirrors that let you know when someone was on either side of you and I love that feature.
Ahahaha. I can't believe you hadn't told us that!
