At our last ophthalmology appointment, it was determined that Bobby's "moderate farsightedness" really hadn't improved. It was time for glasses. Here's my little stinker! He reminds me of Ralphie from A Christmas Story...so cute (if I do say so myself!)

Re: Bobby's new GLASSES!
He's adorable! I just can't get over how big he's gotten!

Someone's getting a little brother!
OMG, E, look at your little gummy bear! I have such a similar photo of Bobby at ~10 weeks that I framed in a "Coming Soon" frame and used to tell my parents we were expecting! So cute!

Aw thanks!
The scoop:
He was assessed by the doc over the past 6 months and wasn't improving. The way she described it is since babies don't read or really have the need to focus on close up things for long periods of time, they just focus until they accomplish what they were trying for (picking up a cheerio, for example) and then let their eyes relax again. The purpose for the glasses is to see what he should be seeing and encourage him to focus for longer periods of time thus exercising the eyes and helping them "grow out of it" potentially. That's also why they said they didn't give him his full, assessed prescription...to encouage him to still work some on his own to focus.
Luckily, the doc suggested Miraflex. They're really flexible...almost like rubber...and they have a strap across the back.
DH took him to pick them up the other day, and he'd only keep them on for about 45 second spans. When I got home from work, I sat down with him to look at some picture books. We started looking at them, and he started to get engaged, then I slipped on the glasses. He froze, opened his eyes really wide and made a surpised "OH!" Face when checking out the book. It was as if he was saying, oh, so that's what that looks like! Then he left them on until bedtime (2 hours later)! He seems to really enjoy seeing up close much better. I had no idea his eyes were that bad, but looking thru his little glasses, there's definitely a decent prescription on them!
That's a seriously cute kid you've got there
Love those glasses on him! Glad he is adjusting well, he is precious.
