When we named Cadence, people came out of the woodwork saying "ohhh, that's SO my girl name!!"

Then, within the next 18 months, two friends of ours had girls... named Kaydence and Kadence.  That kills me.

Her middle name is Denise, after my mother.

Our boy name is Chance William.

Brianna, I do not think I have ever heard of Cadence before I met you.

Jaymi, my cat's name is Wednesday!

I know!  It's cute.  Plus your cat is black, right?

Yep! That's how we came up with it.

The sister on American Wedding (that hooks up with Stifler) is named Cadence in the movie.  That's not where we got it from, but that's what a lot of people asked!

  • imagejuliebug1997:

Your Olivia could be Lizard and my Olivia could be Livy for when we babysit each other's girls.

    Deal!

  • I'm so behind on this post!  Brianna, I think I told you that I used to want to name my girl Cadence when you first came to the boards!  I LOVE that name...and I fell in love with it after seeing American Wedding LOL.

But now I like Ava or Avery, which are both on the list...but oh well.  And Christian for a boy.

P.S. No lie, my best friend named her son Creek. (play on words with the last name)  I hated it at first but now that that's all I've known him as, I couldn't imagine anything else for him.

Ava always reminds me of Reese Witherspoon's little girl. It's a pretty name, I agree.

Wow.. I am impressed so many already have their names picked out..

We are no where close.. every time I suggest a name, DH claims "Veto!".

I have always like the following girl names:

    Alyssa

    Alexis

Celeste - apparently this one is too stripper name sounding??? :-/

Evangeline ( Eva or Evie for short)

    Magdalena

Too stripper sounding?  What is on his list then?

Alexis- it's close to Lexi, which I really like.  It has gone from 440 in 2000 to the 200's last year.  Maybe I'll add an 'e' to the end because it is not moving very fast.

Are you going to find out whether it is a boy or girl?

That's my list of names that I like that he has vetoed.

And yes, we plan to find out the gender. I am a planner and would also just like to know. I have never understood the appeal of waiting,

  • Brianna, I love Chance!  I also love Cadence though so I just think you have great taste in names.

Me either! I don't know how you could plan anything. I guess you just do all gender neutral colors for the nursery, clothes, and baby stuff. But, that doesn't seem fun to me. After the baby came, I'd still want to run out and buy all pink or blue stuff. Especially if it were a girl.

And you can't get all the cute onesies and things beforehand that say "Mommy's little man" or "daddy's little angel" if you don't know the sex!

DH makes fun of me for this.  My mom wants us to not find out when the time comes but DH knows me so well he said that would never fly because I'd be so stressed about not getting to plan that the doctors would end up telling me just to keep me and baby healthy.  At least he knows.  I am a big planner and having a baby is a big deal so a big plan has to happen!

:)  Thank you. I actually really love the name Emerson.  I know a girl that named her daughter Emerson and calls her Emmy for short.  I thought it was very classic.

A co-worker of mine has a girl named Charlotte.  I like that too!

  • imageMrzHoz:

One reason for me is that I don't want a lot of blue or pink stuff.  If you don't know, you get a variety of colors!  I'm the opposite of Summer I suppose ;)

I don't think I have actually seen American Wedding.

Chance is cute too.  I've only heard of it once.

I love Charlotte. Very pretty. Of course it will forever remind me of SATC. But, that's ok. Because it's not a bad thing to be reminded of.

Some argue that the element of surprise of finding out at birth is so special, but um, you are bringing a new life into a world, I think that pretty special on it's own.

I already have the reveal to our families planned.. It's been done before in different variations, but we will get a neutral baby themed cake ( with pink or blue icing ONLY on the inside) and invite family over for a get together and serve the cake as dessert and have our moms make the first cut together and reveal the surprise.

Oh yeah-I will be the sterotypical mom who puts a boy in blue and a girl in pink with big bows on her head.

    Sad but true. :)

I like Emerson but when I think of that name, it reminds of this PITA kid.  And Charlotte, such a cute name.

I also like Scarlett (I think that's what it is) and Amelia.

I definitely told DH when we decide to have a baby I want to announce it to our families in a cute, (probably gag-worthy to some of you) way, and also when we find out the sex.

A gender reveal party!!  How fun!!  I just read a blog about them and they seem fantastic and now I am semi obsessed with them.  Honestly that is one down side to me if we keep it a secret- no party :(

My mom used to put bows on me every day until I was in like 2nd grade. I remember the little bow racks in the bathroom. The kids I went to school with STILL remember that I was the girl in elementary school who wore dresses every single day.

I'm such a girlie girl, if we have a girl DH is in trouble and we'll be in some major debt.

  • My Mom too... that's probably how I got in the habit.  We have giant bow racks for Cadence too.  Andrew fought it at first, but they look so adorable with the bow, so he gave in.

  • Kathy,

Are you or DH hoping for a girl or boy in particular? Or just a healthy baby? :)

I know some people really have their hearts set on a specific sex. A girl I worked with a few years ago wanted a girl so badly that when she found out it was a boy, she cried for days. DAYS.

    That's sad to me.

On the subject of babies, a friend of mine posted pictures from a baby shower that she recently attended where the whole room was decorated with baby dolls and stuffed animals hanging from their necks from above.

I thought it was the weirdest thing ever.. I wonder who came up with that and thought it was a good idea.

That's funny Andrew fought it. Because I pointed out a cute headband with a big flower on it when we were out in public one night on a baby girl's head and said "Oh yeah babe, get ready. If we have a girl, it's all about those." And he goes "Uh, we'll need to talk about that" And I said "Um, no. Decision has been made. You weren't consulted. Sorry." bahaha.

    Butting in here...

When we went to the gender sonogram, Andrew was CONVINCED it was a boy... and lo and behold, we had a baby girl.  His face was bummed out for about 10 minutes and he was right back to happy.  I think it's SO sad when people place way too much emphasis on sex of the baby.  Happy and healthy all the way!

  • Um ok those pictures are creepy.

It's like a 5 year old was in charge of decorating for the baby shower, and raided their room for decorations.

No I want a fun way too and I know this will be something I will obsess over.  I'll have an extremely hard time deciding what to do though.

We just want a healthy baby , no preference.

I think the best scenario with would be a boy and girl twin, but of course that didn't happen, but honestly, we will be happy either way.

Totally agree. I would be happy with either sex. I don't care as long as they're healthy.

I know DH wants a girl, and he would be a tad disappointed for about 30 seconds if it was a boy but then he would be super excited he could teach him football, and baseball, and all that fun stuff.
